After calling 10+ companies only 2 were able to accommodate our request due to a high volume of snow/ice removal requests. The other company was slow to respond and when they finally did respond, they quoted us 3 times the amount of money as Zaman Carpentry! He was able to come out the next day and take care of our roof. He was prompt, professional and very easy to work with.

I called in a panic at 7 am Seweryn was here by 8:15 am. Job was completed by 9:15 am. Great job. Would highly recommend.

We just completed an extensive renovation -- adding new space, kitchen re-do, etc. Of ALL the many, many contractors we had to deal with, Zaman was the best. Seweryn was responsive from the start, fair in his quotes, patient with delays on our end, professional and produced high quality work. We had a leak last night -- from contractor work, not roofing -- and I emailed him at 11:30 pm. He was AT OUR HOUSE by 7:15 this morning, in the crawl space, on the roof, repairing and assessing. So impressive -- he really cared.

Severyn appeared for the a visit to view the work and provide an estimate. He set a tiome to start and he was at work on that date. The work was done well, very clean and expert.

.This is a great roofing company- Seweryn is a very hard working and knowledgeable tradesman. He really knows the roofing business and works hard to provide a top notch job at an extremely reasonable price. He provided his estimate only after a through inspection and careful examination of the roof and condition of the sheathing and attic ventilation - other providers only gave a cursory review and would have grossly underestimated the scope of the project. Seweryn knew all that would be required to complete the job so that everything necessary would be here on day one - no delays, very professional. This was an extensive replacement and new gable construction with removal of sheathing and replacement and new ventilation system - Seweryn met at the job site with other tradesmen including carpenters and remodelers and coordinated the project - his help made it go very smoothly. All this at an extremely reasonable cost. I would not hesitate to use this firm again and have recommended his services to friends and neighbors. Great company, great price, great job.

Best price of everyone who gave me a quote - often by far. Others charged more to just tack on a second layer of shingles. These guys tore off the old shingles, inspected, repaired the roof where soft, and put on brand new shingles. Great communication by email - timely, informative and professional. AMAZING job of cleaning up after each day they were at our house. Not just after the job was completed. Would highly recommend and would gladly use again - though my hope is that I won't need to for another 20 years or so! ?

The workers were professional, got the job done quickly, and cleaned up so you couldn't even find a nail left behind. Mr Zaman personally made an adjustment we requested, and did not leave until we were satisfied. We would use this company again, and we would recommend them to anyone who has an older house. The house got a new lease on life, and we were relieved and satisfied with the results.

He came out on a rainy day, took pictures and said he would return to fix the problem. After a week we called him and he said he was still coming. After another two weeks we hired someone else.

My house is reverse graded and is therefore all roof line. I wanted something special but was not willing to install cedar. After about one million questions and estimates I finally choose a triple laminated product.. ZAMAN prepared many different estimates for me because I could not make up my mind on the product. Once we started, his work was professional and he did a great job. The roof is gorgeous and I could not be happier. He was the only roofer who correctly insisted on an open valley gable, which was critical on a triple laminate product, His price did not change and he did not pressure me to choose something quickly. I would use him again without hesitation.

He is very prompt on his responses and keeps in good communication. He always showed when he said and did an excellent job. Did a great job with clean up as well.

Zaman is very nice and was very prompt with the turnaround time for the estimate, contract and getting the roof on. They did a good job picking up and we didn't have a lot of nails or debris at all. The guy were very nice and we're very pleased with our roof.

I found them on Angie’s List and I like them. They are charging $600 for the front porch. They return calls, do a good job, and reasonably priced. If I need to wait a couple weeks, it is worth it. They are coming tomorrow to finish painting as long as it does not rain.

I emailed Zaman Carpentry late in the day on Dec.5 stating a problem with a gutter and the board it is fastened to. Seweryn emailed me back early the nest day estimating the problem and offering to come and see the situation for a better estimate. He came out the following day and we also discussed a problem with rain leaking into the upstairs bedroom. He went up on the roof for a better look and more discussion. I asked when the work could be done, he said it would be best to wait until Spring and he could put a tarp on the roof for the winter. He later emailed a quote for replacing the roof and gutter, which I accepted. Then it snowed a couple of times so we kept in touch about when the roof was clear and he came out on the Saturday before Christmas and put on the tarp. So far everything is staying dry. I have signed the contract and we are waiting for Spring. At this point no money has changed hands.

A large crew arrived on the specified day and removed the old decking, reinstalled new decking and put on the shingles. I was amazed at the efficiency, each crew member seemed to know just what to do. The next day Seweryn came by himself to finish up the flashing and detail work. My house has no soffits and I believe the problem with the old decking was 1. It was a minimum thickness and 2. the ventilation was inadequate. Most of the other roofers I talked to just wanted to install a roof and their solution to my concerns about ventilation was to install an electric ventilation fan. Seweryn was one of the few roofers that seemed to understand the problem and be able to propose what I thought were good solutions. He proposed to add "SmartVent" drip edge ventilation and a ridge vent to provide airflow under the entire roof deck from roof edge to ridge. Considering how many workers there were and the job they had to do, they did a reasonable job protecting the landscaping. All the shrubs did fine, but a few of the smaller plants took a hit. I think they will recover by next year. All in all they did a great job.

If every company did business like Seweryn Zaman there would be no need for a Better Business Bureau. From the initial contact to the final wrap-up details he and his team did an outstanding job. 1. Fair price and detailed estimate. 2. Excellent communication at all times regarding what would be done, and when. 3. Punctual - did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it. 4. Professional - at all times. The new roof looks terrific, and better yet after a few days of heavy rain not a single leak. What more could you want? 5 stars, A++. Highly recommended.

Everything about working with Zaman was wonderful! Professional, quick, dedicated. From the first contact, to cleaning up the yard this team was great. They worked for 13 hours on a 95 degree day, with beautiful results, and a thoroughly pleasant experience.

It was worse than he thought once he stripped away the shingles. They took all day to fix the roof . Certainly not the job he signed up for. When done, I paid him $1600 ( $150 more than quoted) He didn't want to take it, but I insisted. Not the end of the story.... Next big rain, guess what, roof leaked, I called him and he was over immediately. He spent another evening checking the roof and eventually tested the roof and chimney for leaks again. Eventually he found the chimney was the culprit as when he hosed a section of it he could see the water being absorbed into the mortar. He fixed it and now no leak. No extra charges. Very professional and I highly recommend him. Prior to Zaman we had 3=4 knuckleheads that just took our money and fixed nothing

Classic nightmare story... we just moved into our new home and the first morning we discovered that there were drops falling from our living room ceiling!! In a panic we called Zaman Carpentry and got an actual answer (not an answering machine) the owner was courteous and offered a visit tomorrow - when I told him we were actually experiencing active leaking he said he'd find time to come over today. At about 6pm there was a knock at the door, Seweryn introduced himself and proceeded to hop on his ladder and inspect the roof... a half hour later and a whole bunch of banging he was back in the house and provided pictures of the issue and let me know how he repaired the issue (an exposed nail head). I asked him how the roof looked... expecting to hear that i would need to replace it soon... his response... 'Looks pretty good'. When asked how much i owed him... he said 'Don't worry about it'! Are you kidding me... who does that!?!?!? What started as a nightmare was wrapped up with a sigh of relief. Seweryn has earned a customer for life! I can tell you i have a lot of roof and it's probably going to cost me a fortune when it's time to replace it, but i will be bringing my business straight to Zaman Carpentry without a second thought... clearly he is fair and most importantly he is honest!!!

No phones calls back and I still have never heard from him. Forget it already...

Seweryn Zaman and his team were wonderful. He communicated ahead of time the date/time for the start of the project. Due to the weather they were not able to start on Monday but Severyn was there and discussed the plans for the next day. He indicated the project would be completed in 2 days and it was. Everything was to completed to perfection!! Fantastic job. Seweryn and his team are polite, pleasant, professional and such a joy to work with. I am going to miss having them at the house tomorrow. Even the individuals performing the gutter and gutter screen installation were outstanding. Can not say enough about this company and how pleased I was with their work.

Zaman's estimate was competitive with the five other estimates I got, so in February I asked them to replace my roof whenever he was ready. Seweryn called in March and we set the date for the job. They did an excellent job on the roof, and also did a great job of cleaning up. Everything went very smoothly, with no surprises, and I would recommend Zaman to anyone needing roofing.

I found Zaman Carpentry on Angie's List after Storm Sandy damaged our roof in the Fall of 2012. Seweryn (the owner) recommended complete roof replacement and covering the damage with a tarp and waiting for better weather in the Spring. His estimate was the most detailed and also the lowest. Work began on the specified day and lasted longer than expected because: 1) the boards on this 1925 house were in poor condition and needed to be covered with plywood sheathing. (This did not come as a surprise to me because I had noted their condition from the attic.) and 2) Seweryn noticed that the chimney was in need of immediate repair and I had to call in a mason to replace the exterior portion. Seweryn coordinated the repair with the mason and came back later to complete the roof installation. The work was done in a professional manner and care was taken to clean up the work site every day. My concerns with locating a dumpster on our driveway (Stone pavers) were addressed. When the chimney problem arose, Seweryn's concern was not with how it would affect his schedule, but whether we might encounter leaks if it rained before he could complete his portion of the work. He returned to complete the job the day after the masons were finished, coming in to work for two hours after he had completed a regular day on another job. The entire crew was professional, efficient, and courteous. I plan to use them for a large carpentry project later this year. I heartily recommend them.

I highly recommend Zaman Carp. LLC. They were prompt, courteous, professional and very well organized. They gave me a date and time and were right on the dot. Great experience!!

Main roof was stripped and replaced in one day. Garage overhang was repaired on day two at which time 99% of job site was cleaned up and hauled off in roll away container. Clean up was pretty good except for a handful of stray nails found throughout the yard. Seweryn Zaman was very pleasant and easy to get along with. The new roof looks great and has gotten many compliments from the neighbors. I will definitely use again!
