GUTTER MAXX

I called Gutter Maxx for a free estimate to replace the gutters on our house. We have many trees in our yard and have had issues with leaves and pine needles clogging our standard gutters so were interested in Gutter Maxx's no clog guaranty. The office assistant promptly returned my call and scheduled a salesman to come to our home and provide an estimate within 48 hours. The salesman Steven arrived on time and spent an hour inspecting and measuring our house, providing a product demo and developing a written estimate. He provided a list of approximately 50 references with contact information for us but mentioned they pay their references $300 for serving as reference for 3 months. They provided a list price for 84 linear feet of gutters with no corners and 4 downspouts of $5,600 (over 6 times more than quotes I received for standard gutters). However, if I signed a contract with them before Steve left my house, the price would only be $3,600. The salesman said this is how Gutter Maxx does business and if he left without a signed work order, $5,600 was the best price I would ever get from them. I told them I don't care if that is how they do business, that is not how I do business. What good are 50 references if they don't even give you the opportunity to check them? Anyway, I am not sure if this experience is indicative of Gutter Maxx service as a whole as I have heard some good things via word of mouth about their product and installation, but my experience with this sales rep was very disappointing.

I sent the company an email through another search site, and forgot about it. The company called back several times to make the appointment...which was great b/c I was on vacation, and never picked up. Their persistance was appreciated. They are also great about flexibility in appointments, coming out to the house as late as 8PM. I didn't meet with the salesman outside, but my husband did, and could tell this was going to be a high estimate. They do not offer anything but their Cadillac of gutters--look like commercial grade gutters with a gutter guard. The salesman did measurements, which included 100 feet of gutters and 100 feet of downspouts, and then he came in the house to discuss his estimate. We had two other estimates from other companies without gutter guards on either side of 1000 bucks. After he did his informmerical type demo, he said the retail price ws $5000, but he'd do it for $3350! Yikes!
