Two workers came on the time they told me. They were quick and completed the job. I'm very happy with the job. Without Angie's List this would have cost me $575.00, I saved $249.00; now that's saving!!!

They were terrific. Jake was great! Professional and competent. Diagnosed and fixed my intermittent electrical problem.

My boss needed something done in his house. He had yet to hear back from the company, so he went ahead and had someone else do the work.

I took hours off of work to have the job completed. The first 3 times they called and then cancelled. The 4th time they didn't even call or anything. Today there was no follow call or anything. They were nice on the phone.

He gave me an estimate on the work that was outrageously over price that it is not a deal. It is a rip off.

They were very professional. The estimate they gave us to complete the work was triple what all other contractors estimated for us.

It didn't!

It went fine. They delivered what they promised in the work estimate. I have no dislike at this moment.

My husband met with them and he said they were punctual and professional. They took measurements and listened to what we had in mind to do with our basement. Overall, they were a good company. We may go with this company in the future but at this moment we have other pressing issues in the house to fix so this upgrade will have to wait. The issue I had with the whole process was the "plan or redering" of our basement design. I personally thought that paying $49 for a drawing that I could have come up with on my own was not worth the price. Personally, I was expecting a little bit more then a computer drawn square with a little square for the sump pump - maybe a 3-D rendering of what our basement would look like would have been worth the cost in my mind.

After I bought the Big Deal, the company contacted me within one business day to set up an estimate time. On the day of the estimate the electrician arrived promptly and even removed his shoes before coming in the house. The estimate went quickly and I was told that I would receive an email and/or call to set up an appointment. After four days I called the company back to find out the status of my appointment. I was contacted within one business day and the installation was scheduled. The two electricians arrived on time, were friendly and efficient, cleaned up, and finished the job quickly. If it hadn't been for the delay in scheduling the service and that I had to call, they would have received A ratings in every area.

Never called back to schedule repairs after requesting it 3 times.

They came on-time and followed up after with an estimate within about a week. I feel their pricing from the estimate is really high comparatively. They did not follow up with me after I emailed them back.

Came to my house and was told estimate would be mailed. I called to get price today 1/25/14. Price way to high for work needed.

Better Built Basements was a little disappointing. It wasn't as expected. I just wanted a minor thing done in the basement and not a big remodel and he gave me a cost of $1500. All I wanted done was to create a little area for the laundry and I thought that was very expensive. I don't know, maybe that the typical price because I hadn't prices it before but that was a lot of money. I said to him if I was going to spend that kind of money, I'll redo a bathroom or something. I have a washing machine and a dryer in the corner of the basement, it was a little bit dark so I could use some lighting and I wanted it kind of cleaned up a little bit and straightened out, a small area that have maybe tiles put on the floor. He didn't really give me options. It was okay, it was not fabulous. I was thinking he could have offered me some other options. In all fairness to him "you didn't give me a budget" and that's true, I didn't. He was professional.

They came out do to the sketch and estimate. I was disappointed because I was expecting a little more. I thought the layout should have had more detail.

At first, the cost of the BBB quote seemed a little high, and my husband and I were going to wait before we moved ahead with the project. But after getting quotes from other contractors and subcontractors, we felt that BBB was a good value and really knew how to do basements. Their standard practice includes steel framing and mold-resistant sheetrock, which adds a little for material costs, but after having experienced a moldy basement in the past, is well-worth the investment. We decided to go ahead and sign the contract with Jim. The workers were incredibly efficient. They'd usually put in very full days and leave the basement spotless when they left. Even after jack-hammering up the floor to install pipes for a new bathroom, the space was swept clean at the end of the day. BBB provided us with a schedule of work, updated for each week. As questions and concerns arose, Jim was incredibly responsive by phone, email and text. He was very proactive in correcting these issues, having workers come by within an hour or two. We did run into a few unexpected issues though. So although I'm giving BBB an A rating, I was torn. I'd say they are really somewhere between an A- and a B+. The negatives: (1) The carpeting allowance included in the quote was for a basic carpet. We knew that we would likely pay extra for better quality. Our impression was that the $2.25/SF allowance was for carpet material and that everything else was included. It turns out BBB included carpet material, padding and installation in that price. What we thought would be several hundred dollars extra for a better carpet turned into $1,500. (2) The HVAC guy was not impressive. He made a few mistakes along the way (that were eventually fixed), but losing your heat twice is not fun. (3) The project took a few weeks longer than the 6 weeks we were originally quoted. Part of the reason was because we were never given firm deadlines for picking out our bathroom fixtures. "Pick them out ASAP" is not as helpful as "We are going to install your vanity this Friday, so make sure it's picked out by Monday," for example. (4) Jim and his crew are builders. They had some design suggestions, but are not architects or interior designers. I found it troubling that the framers designed our bathroom without considering that the low ceilings would not accommodate a normally-placed shower head. It wasn't until my husband was walking around the newly framed basement did he realize that the bathroom would need to be moved slightly. (5) The painting was not done as carefully as I would have liked. We had to have the poor painter return three times to complete touch-ups. There are still minor pin-holes and bubbles on one section of our wall. That said, the basement now looks awesome. My husband and I were involved with more of the design and selection of features than I originally anticipated, but we are very happy with the finished product. For full disclosure, we were told that if we complete a review on Angie's List, we could expect a nice Starbucks gift card in return. We weren't asked to give an "A" review, but I certainly thought the Angie's List folks should know that BBB customers might be getting an incentive to submit reviews.

I purchased the $49 big deal for $249 worth of electrical. It was to install a vented bathroom fan of which all parts were already purchased. I had received previous estimates for as low as $200.00. I thought that the big deal would have covered the cost. The estimate was for $425 so I would be paying them $176. plus the $49 for the big deal. It did not make sense. The company was very prompt in contacting me. The gentleman that came out was right on time, very quick and personable. They appear to be a very good reliable company just too pricey for this job.

Provider was prompt and professional, but I didn't expect the work would cost as much as quoted and I can't afford to have the work done at this time.

things went ok but I'm still waiting on my design.

I am still using and they redone my whole house. They were the only one that talked about going from the first level to the finish level. So, they did everything from putting in installation and all keep putting up the light bulb. So, they were full service for what I have heard. And that appeals to me. Also, they are very professional. You take this as a business and they take the business directly. It was not like a plant mating. So far it was about $45000. It was an excellent and fair price. You paid a lot of money that they did a lot of work.

There was no issues with this company and the Big Deal. It was a good service and they were able to give us a quote for the job. He came out was very professional and courteous.

The representative was very courteous and helpful when discussing my basement and the building code requirements.

Better Built Basements was the best contractor I've ever hired ever, from start to finish. They gave an aggressive bid and stuck to it with no surprises. They showed up every day when they said they would and worked full days, including many weekends. They were professional, efficient, pleasant, responsive. BBB obtained all the permits and ran interference with the town inspector. It was one stop shopping. Jim, the owner, personally was on top of the project every day and would respond to inquiries quickly. They started the project in early October and promised to finish it by Christmas. Incredibly, they finished AN ENTIRE MONTH EARLY! My basements was done and perfect before THANKSGIVING, not Christmas as promised. When has a contractor ever come in a month early, and on budget? I would unhesitatingly use BBB again for anything and everything, not just a basement. They use all of their own subcontractors and/or regulars, so all the plumbing, electrical, etc. was under the direct control and direction of BBB. I researched other basement companies and found BBB to be the most responsive and pleasant on the front end, so I went with BBB and could not be happier with the result. I have horror stories from years gone with contractors not finishing, not showing up, charging more, using my money for other projects, etc so I was wary about this new major project. Going with BBB was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. BBB is an honest and upstanding company, starting at the top with the ownership. I could not be more effusive in my praise for BBB. Look no further than BBB.

They surveyed my basement and gave me a quote many weeks later. Very professional.
