Better Built Basements LLC

I purchased a Big Deal for $56 for custom basement design with measurements & set of 2D plans. They never got in contact with me, I ended up finding someone else to perform the service.

It didn't go well. I wasn't ready to do a basement renovation. I asked them to map out the dimensions of the room. There was little detail. I though it was a disappointment.

My wife and I met first with Chris to go over our basement. He was very polite and helpful. Chris was in direct contact with the owner (Jim) and after some back and forth they provided us with a great quote to finish our lower level. I had several other quotes in place, but what sold me about Better Built is that they did not try to over-sell me and were wiling to work within my budget. They pulled all permits and promised no overages. They held their word on all accounts. My project started on February 4th 2014. The crew was on time and efficient. They worked so fast I could not keep up with the daily progress. They showed up everyday, even through terrible weather. I was in constant contact with Jim and Chris during the project. Jim was readily available and anytime I needed something he was quick to respond. My project lasted about 6 weeks. Right on schedule. They even did extra by hanging mirrors and a wall mount fireplace. I had a small issue with trim work and they responded back immediately and made it right. No questions asked. I met them at a home show and they prompted my interest in Angie's List and everyone I have came in contact with for the company since is amazing and has done an excellent job. The work they have done is remarkable and was completed in a timely manner. I am a very particular person and they did not hesitate to come out and address any last minute concerns. The way the ad was worded and what I needed were just not a fit.

They were prompt, did everything as asked, cleaned up and checked back to make sure everything was as desired. You can't ask for more.

The electrician that came out was great. He performed all the work we requested and he did it fast. Also, he cleaned up after himself. When he left, you would have had no idea that we just had all this work done!

They emailed me the quote after coming to look at our basement. He was very nice and very upfront.

I have not used them yet...Because the work I want them to do is outside I told them it could wait until April, although I have not had a return confirmation email from them.

The job went perfectly. Our new access was just as requested and the ceiling from the older access was completely replaced, the closet light was centered and both ready for paint. I could not be happier. BBB arrived on time for both the preview of the job and the scheduled job day. We had been told we would pay extra for materials but we were not charged. Very professional. I would definitely use them again. It certainly was a great deal.

The company provider a plan and a quote. We are waiting for the right time to do the construction.

I have had work done on 4 different houses over the last 20 years. None has ever come close to the quality, professionalism and enjoyability of working with the team at BBB. Starting with my initial phone call, and continuing through the weeks of consultation and work, Wayne, Jim and his team were an absolute delight and experts at their profession. They built hardwood floors in a brand new home and matched the existing hardwood hallway so that you could never tell they had been done by someone else. But the bigger job they did was a complete finishing of my basement. I told them I wanted it to be an extension of the house, and not just a basement. They helped with carpet and color selections, were totally open to any and all ideas, and very helpful with suggestions, after listening to what I wanted. I can't say enough good things about my experience with them. They answered my MANY questions along the way, completely, patiently, thoroughly and always right away. Always kept me up to date on everything going on. They were always on time, always cleaned up after their work, INCREDIBLY sensitive to the fact that I have allergies to dust (so rare), they are just the best! They also fixed a separate problem that occurred in the house (due to snowy weather) that had nothing to do with them, but went out of their way to ensure that the work was done correctly. The end result is a warm and beautiful basement that feels like a family room, not a basement. They also built a custom bar that is gorgeous designed ideally for the space and installed electrical outlets to make using it simple and flexible. They did literally everything, including finishing the "unifinished" storage area of the basement because of my allergies. They are the best! I will call them again anytime I need any work. It ended up costing me $500 but that was understood going in. They came and spent an hour. It took them a while to call me and then they had to cancel and we had to reschedule but that was just the logistics. Otherwise, they were quite good. They came and did what they were asked to do. They were on time and responsible. The initial deal was an hour's worth of electrical visit for $50 which is normally for $200 so they came and inspected it out. They came the next day and did the work. The fan had a higher amperage than the circuit that I had so they had to run a separate line down to the box so the extra cost was understood. We talked that through and I understood the whole thing so I do not fault them for the fact that it cost $500. They looked at the job and said, "Here is what it is going to cost." They were definitely worth working with for electrical work.

Fantastic! They came on time even though it was snowing. The whole process took aybe 2 hours.

It went well, the issue I had with the install was identifying the neutral cable but Randy'- the pro that he is - was able to successfully identify the neutral and hook the Wemo right up. No issues whatsoever. I also asked Randy to quote me on the install of the power outlet under the sink, I'll soon be using his services again. Couldn't be happier.

He was very professional. He was a very nice person.

The provider did not honor the coupon. Although an electrician came to give me an estimate, he failed to get back to me. After I contacted him, he did send an estimate and since then he is not responding to my emails. The company said that someone else will contact me in a few days. That was 2 weeks ago, but no one contacted me yet. I want my money back.

The estimate included a transfer switch for a generator which turned out too expensive and was eliminated.

It's been about 2 weeks since they have finished the project and we have received rave reviews from our family and friends who have visited us! We have a ping pong table and a projection and theater seats so far but we have plans to put additional items in the room. It's a great additional room that the kids are using to entertain their friends and well a great place for the family to watch a movie! We are extremely happy with this company and their services!

1) Better Built Basements sent out an electrician from a different company to provide a quote (Tranmer Electric LLC). Had I known that I was going to be hiring Tranmer Electric then I would have looked up Tranmer reviews rather than reviews for Better Built Basements. 2) The quote that I got from the electrician that they sent was hundreds higher than other 2 quotes I received, thereby giving the "coupon" NO VALUE. Specifically, the quote they gave me was for $659. Then they subtracted $249 for the "value" of the coupon I bought, indicating they would charge me an additional $410 to do the job. I was able to get the work done by another local licensed electrician for $150.

Extremely pleased! From appointment making, to estimates to the actual work performed....everything was very professional and I was completely satisfied. Would use their service again and would recommend. Thanks Better Built Basements and Tranmer Electric!!!

it went well, once the work was completed. I had a slight issue with being rescheduled, which was cleared up when I spoke directly to the owner
