Description of Work: Provided design plans for finishing basement. We decided not to proceed with the project for unrelated reasons.

Description of Work: came out to quote a job - bought a "big deal" for a quote on basement measurements and plans. Had them then quote a bathroom remodel and living room repair due to a pipe burst. Punctual and friendly, knowledgeable. Quality in book and website look good but ultimately did not go with this company b/c double the price of any other provider (all of which we found on Angie's list)

Description of Work: BBB did a few things for me - they hung a jewelry box on the wall, they removed a wall a/c and sheetrocked the hole, and they installed an interior door in my lower level. As it relates to the a/c - they were to paint that wall, however they only painted 1/2 the wall and not all the way to the edges - so you can tell what was recently painted as it does not blend. As it relates to the door, it looks amazing, however it is very hard to open and close. They were on time and keep me updated with their progress. I would use them again.

Description of Work: It took about 2-3 weeks to set up appointment with Randy. He came to the house and listen to the small amount of work. He sent an estimate of work to perfom. We called to try to confirm if the plate colores were correct and cancelled 2 timed thermostats for the 2 heated floors. The price went from $275.00 to $260.00. We were told this over the phone rather than a new bill. We set the time for installation of 8am on a Wednesday. My wife waited until 8:40 when the techs arrived. They said that no arrival time was discussed by Randy. He called and left a mesage with my cell phone saying that they wer 20 minutes late because they hit traffic. Evaluation: we payed $49.00 which according to the deal was for 1 hour of service. We have not received that back and it was never applied in the quote. Setting up the first appointment with Randy was too long, the amount for the work quoted was too much and they did not arrive on time.

Description of Work: Our front door needed replacement, along with removal of rotten wood below the door. Better Built responded quickly and came out to do an estimate. At the same time, I was in need of new flooring in the kitchen, eat-in area and 2 bathrooms. It would have been great to have the same company do all the work. I waited five weeks for an estimate. After five weeks, I called the company to let them know that I was very frustrated having to wait so long. I received a call back from "the boss" and he explained that replacement of just the door would not be the right fix for the problem. The entire casement (with side-lights) would have to be replaced. Because I had requested just the door (not knowing, of course), he didn't know what to do. He admittedly set the estimate aside and never tried to reach me to explain. By that time, I had already had two other estimates and both of those companies upon sight told me that they would not be able to replace just the door. Very soon after speaking with the "the boss" at Better Built, I received a phone call from the representative that came out to do the estimate. He also apologized (the boss clearly explained that it was not the reps. fault at all) and asked if I still wanted an estimate on the floors. Definitely not I replied. If they had been up front with me at the start, I certainly would have considered them for the floor replacement. Not very professional on the part of Better Built, to say the least.

Description of Work: Complete remodeling of basement. Move heater, build 2 bedrooms, cedar closet, workroom, bathroom, storage room, and large TV/sitting area. Redo the electrical box, lighting, wooden doors, real wooden molding, track lighting, carpet and bathroom fixtures. Shelving and many other great touches.
