The estimate came in substantially lower than the two other fence companies that we consulted. The product used was also superior (not mixed hard wood). Joe was able to fit us into his busy schedule as close to our move-in day as possible. The job did take a day longer than anticipated, partially because the supplier sent the wrong materials, but since Joe charges by the fence length, not by the labor hours, it was not detrimental to us in any way. The installers were accommodating at the end of the job when I asked them to put a little more wire under the gates because I was concerned a large gap would temp my dog to try to escape. The fence is sturdy, attractive, and well installed. The final price came in a couple hundred dollars under the estimate. we are very pleased with the fence and highly recommend. We will definitely use Pleasant Valley fence for any future fencing needs.

Professional, courteous and clean. Total length installed, and as a result the total cost, ended up below the original quote. Build quality is very high - all of the joints fit snugly, posts don't wobble, mesh is tightly connected and well tensioned. Visually looks very good and matches the log house well. No dogs have escaped and no predators have broken in.
Description of Work: Rebuilt dog yard fence to contain my new Husky. Removed approximately 200ft of rotting wooden post-and-rail fence, pulled off the wire and salvaged the timber in a neat pile at my request to repurpose into raised garden beds. Replacement fence followed the path of the original fence, plus added additional area around the corner of the house for 230ft total. 6' high, round red cedar post-and-rail with round posts and rails at the top and bottom. Entire fence has 2" wide x 4" high wire mesh, tied together instead of welded, so it can flex when a dog jumps against it without welds breaking. Posts were augured into challenging soil full of large rocks and high water table. Each rail custom cut to length with large mortar-and-tenon joints to match the elevation contours. Custom built swinging gate to match rest of the fence. Accommodated my build-day request for three additional posts at the end of driveway for me to install an aluminum gate.

I called Joe at Pleasant Fencing on Thursday and he arrived at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning to look at the job. He was punctual, accommodated my request for an early weekend morning appointment. Using his laptop, he showed me fencing options, made a recommendation for what he thought would work the best after asking lots of questions about how we use of back yard. As promised, the estimate arrived via email on Monday morning. We received two other quotes, Joe's was the best although all three quotes were very close. We contacted two references (people in our neighborhood we did not know) and based on their recommendation we sent our deposit to Pleasant Valley Fencing and asked for installation as soon as the weather would permit. Exactly one month later, on 4/22 Joe called to scheduled the install on 4/24 (today). The crew arrived at 8:00 a.m., they were pleasant, professional, and did an amazing job. I just received a call from our neighbor (other side of fence) to thank us and compliment the contractor. The old fence and posts were removed, they cut stumps that were in the way, installed the fence, and cleaned up everything. I am beyond thrilled!!! Can't recommend this contractor highly enough. Oh, the email address for this contractor on this site is incorrect. The correct email is http://www.pleasantvalleyfence.net

I checked Angie's list for local fencing contractors as well as a neighbor business owner to see who had installed his fence. Based on the one F rating for Pleasant Valley, plus the excellent referral I got from my neighbor, I asked for quotes and was unsurprised that they came in better than any of the others. Joe came out, measured, and gave me a quote with the day. I paid the deposit and his crew came out and installed the posts for the chain link on Monday, May 6. They returned on Friday, May 10 to install the chain link itself as well as the picket. They were very tidy and cleaned up well after themselves. The crew leader made sure he knew what I wanted and exactly how I wanted everything installed. Everyone was professional, courteous, and hard-working. If I had a question, they answered it and were always pleasant. I am definitely coming back to them when I need more fencing!

I left a message asking for a response ASAP as the dogs were able to get out and I needed a quick repair. I left a message on a Friday and I got a call promptly on Monday morning. Joe was cordial but joked that he had never heard of a dog breaking out of a chain link fence before and suggested that I get a rolled up newspaper and hit him on the backside if he tried to get out again. I don't believe hitting a dog is a wise suggestion. He told me on the phone that he thought the job would cost about 450.00. I told him that I had submitted an insurance claim and that was what money I would have to use to pay for the services. Joe sent a worker down the next day to review the job and provide an estimate. The young man that came was Mark. He was courteous and polite but I was disappointed I did not have someone with more experience and knowledge to talk to as I needed to know what options I had to keep my dog from doing this to the fence again. Mark suggested more ties anchoring the fence to the ground even though my dog was not really digging around the fence. I got the estimate from Joe that afternoon and was dismayed to see the following: Service Call 225.00 Repair Chain Link 265.00 Install approximately 40' Trench with 1 x 1 wire 380.00 Subtotal: 870.00 sales tax: 65.25 total: 925.25 Joe called me the following day to see if I had gotten the estimate. I called back and left a message saying I did but had questions which I would email to him as soon as I was able. I needed to know what the service call charge was for and I was not at all convinced that the 40' trench with 1 x 1 wire was necessary or that it would resolve the problem. I sent Joe this email today, March 5, 2012: Hi Joe,sorry for the delay, we had some unforeseen emergencies recently. I was wondering about the specific fees as they seem unusually high. The insurance benefit is not even half the cost of your fees and your charges are 1/4th the cost to put up the entire fence. Can you do any better with the fees and charges? I am also concerned that these steps will not alleviate the problem. Shiloh is not so much digging under the fence but he is pulling out the links when he gets excited. Do you have any suggestions to actually reinforce the chain links? I am going to get a few more estimates while awaiting your response.Thank you for your time. This was Joe's response: That is my price. Maybe you should contact the people who put up fence the first time. Best RegardsJoe WOW! That was, in my opinion extremely rude and unprofessional. I responded back to Joe and told him he was rude and that I would be submitting a report to Angie's List. His reply: You were provided an estimate in a timely manor.work would have been done last week; as dog getting out is one of our top prioritys just like horses that get out. What you paid for origanal fence or what ins. company gives you is a mute and not how I caculate the cost of a project. It is based on time and material. Sorry I am unable to help you or that you found me to be to curt. Any review from you would seem unwarrented as I have not done any work for you to judge. Best Regards Joe I would not hire this company to do any work for me based on the email conversation noted above and because they were neither able nor willing to help me resolve the issue of the dog pulling on the chain links in the fence.
Description of Work: I needed my vinyl chain link fence repaired after damage from the October 2011 storms and some damage done to the fence by my black lab. Aprox. 12 ft of the top bar had become bent from a tree limb falling on it and I had a few areas where the dog had pulled on some of the links and gotten the links out of order. There was one area about 12" by 15" where he had actually opened up the chain link to get out.
