Dan the Window Man

Beware, you may not get what you were promised or all of the parts for your windows. We hired Dan the Window Man to replace 3 windows during a kitchen remodel. We were referred to Dan by our cabinet maker who was a friend of his. We had a quote from another company that had already done the windows in our family room. That company manufactures and installs their windows (I won't mention their name because this isn't about them, it's about Dan). Dan sells windows manufactured by other companies and he told us he selected a brand that would match the internal/external look of our family room windows. He was half the price of the other company and with the promise the quality would be the same, we selected him. The windows did not arrive on the date promised, I called them and they gave an excuse and said they would be a week late then delivered them a week+ late. Our contractor was installing them and once we unwrapped them we found they were missing the plugs that would cover the screws used during install and the external side of the windows looked completely unfinished. They were missing trim and had just exposed channels. We tried to get Dan to supply the missing items. Initially, he said they were hunting the trim down then he changed his story and said trim didn't actually exist. He also would not deliver or mail the screw plugs. Dan's company stopped replying to email and voice mail and never resolved the issues. Two lessons learned; first, when a contractor tells you they don't usually handle jobs your size, check them off your list immediately because you won't be a priority and second, only buy windows from the company that manufactures them because the middle man is under no obligation to ensure you have everything you need, have what they promised or even if you are satisfied.

After several assurances that he would call/come by to assess the problem, he continued to totally ignore the issue.

We just had Dan the Window Man install a big beautiful picture window overlooking our backyard. It involved cutting out larger hole in the wall. His crew did a phenomenal job both on the outside and inside of the house. going above and beyond to make sure it was perfect. The window looks beautiful, and we don't regret spending the money. By the way, Dan's price was less than half of what Windows by Anderson wanted to charge. You can't go wrong going with Dan!

Dan was great. We had all of our window's replaced on our home. He had a 3rd party contractor do the work....it took them awhile to complete the work. There were some questions about how our back sliding door was installed. Dan came out himself and inspected the property and I feel most contractors would have left it the way it was, but Dan said he felt it could look better. He went out of his way to fix the problem and have it installed the way it was in our contract. In addition to that, he went out of his way to wrap a door to look cosmetically match the windows. He really went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. Because of his customer service....we called him a month later to order our egressed windows. Would definitely recommend.

I contacted Dan in the morning and he came by that evening to look at/measure my window. He came by two days later to take the old balance rod in order to match it. He sent his technician the very next afternoon and replaced the rods. I am happy with his response time, professionalism, and cost point.

I completed a quote inquiry on this company's website for the replacement of two windows. I never received anything back, no call or email. I guess this company does not want my business. Go elsewhere if you want a courteous response back.

We received a referral to Dan from our Realtor.I found Dan to always be very friendly, professional and punctual. He is very knowledgeable about windows. Two things convinced me to go with Dan over other companies. Dan had a wide range of products/manufacturers to choose from. The other companies we spoke with only offered one manufacturer. So with such a wide variety, we were able to choose the windows and warranty that suited us.The other thing was design ideas. With his knowledge of replacement windows he gave us many design options for our replacements. Other companies didn't really take the time to do that. It was simple stuff, but I'm surprised other companies didn't mention it. Such as, if we're going to get double hung windows in one room in the front of the house, get double hung windows for all of the front of the house. It was something that we didn't think about, and other companies even gave us quotes for sliders and double hung on the front of the house. In time, we would have regretted that decision. The installation took a full day, and the installers were clean and professional. The only glitch was that I had to remind Dan a few times to perform the lead testing. I know that installers can use their knowledge of the area to determine whether lead paint is a risk, but I wanted the testing done. They did do the testing prior to the installation.We are very happy we went with Dan and would definitely call him again for windows or other work in our home.

I was looking for replacement storm windows. Although I did not purchase my replacement windows through Dan, I would recommend both his product and service. Dan has a diverse window selection from high end to lower end product. He has something for every ones budget. Dan is a wealth of knowledge on replacement windows and does not have a problem sharing that knowledge with you and helping you make an informed decision. Dan the Window Man is a two person office with installation crews in the field. He seems to have some difficulty juggling owner, salesman, customer service responsibilities all at the same time. You will want to be patient and persistent with him, he will get the job done. The product I was considering purchasing from Dan was very close in quality and price to my final selection. Even though Dan has been in business since 1981 I felt that he might be nearing retirement age and would not be there later for the lifetime warranty on product and installation. No one knows for sure which companies are going to be there for you in the long run whether they are large or small, it is a decision you must make. Pros: Is a great low keyed salesman who is happy to share his knowledge with you. He is not a high pressure salesman and will take the time to answer all of your questions. I feel that his customer service after the sale would be exceptional. Cons: After making an appointment with him at his showroom Dan was a no show. I called him from an adjoining office and reminded him that we had made an appointment. He apologized and did meet me at his office within 15 minutes of my call.

He is just very service oriented, he's been in business a long time. He price was right and he did a very good job.

Dan was honest, on time, and easy to work with.

Dan came to our home, got to know us and what we wanted, then invited us to come to his office to look at a variety of window options. He was able to help us find a good quality window that fit our budget and came in at about 50% of what other vendors were quoting. There was a lull in communication from the time we chose the windows to the time they were installed and I was surprised to get a call on a Wednesday to have the windows installed the next day. When I said I could not accommodate that we rescheduled for Friday/Saturday of that week. Installation: The whole process took 2 days. It was quick, clean, professional. Dan's contractor, Tom, was great. I felt confident with them in my home. They watched out for my dogs, when they left, the windows looked great and the house and surrounding areas were clean. One note...Dan is not always great about getting back to you because he has a lot of business. If you don't hear from Dan for a day or two you should call or e-mail him, he will respond very pleasantly.

Dan did a good job. He is a real nice person. We didn’t want to spend too much money because of the rental. So it was hard to find somebody who would do just two windows. I’m real happy with Dan. My experience with him was good. I would use Dan the Window Man Company again.

We had an existing sunroom that was made in the 1960s with aluminum. It got really hot in the summer and really cold in the winter. They put in low energy, high performance vinyl windows on the bottom where there were aluminum panels. We can now use it most of the months of the year. They charged us for 12 windows, custom installation and sizing and everything. They were good. The quality of work, responsiveness and professionalism were good.

Dan couldn't get to me during the week but offered me an appointment for a Saturday...cool. Sent the family off to enjoy the weekend without me as I waited for the call from Dan. Nothing.... SUN, MON, TUES, WED ...more nothing. On THURS Another business left me a message that Dan had referred him. Still no contact from Dan, though. Oh well. So, do I trust the referred business ?

A representative of the company came to my home, measured my window for an estimate, and I never heard from them again.

Dan came to our home, made measurements and gave us a quote. We made a payment of 50% at that time. Within a week the windows and doors were delivered. All were installed within 3 days. Dan came by to pick up the final payment and make sure that we were satisfied with everything. We were completely satisfied. We found Dan to be friendly, responsive and available for future contact. We will gladly refer him to all of our friends and family in the Denver area.
