Needed my furnace replaced. Devin and Cody were on time. Did a professional job though the furnace was in the crawl space. Very knowledgeable of the job they do.

Scott showed up exactly on time for the free estimate. He was very helpful in helping me select a furnace. Later when I decided to add A/C, he very quickly gave me an additional bid. Not only was the price reasonable, but the quality of the Carrier units specified (58TP furnace and 24ACC A/C) was a step above the other bids. Quality at a reasonable price. Once I accepted the bid, Sebastian and Alex came a couple of days later to do the installation of the new Carrier furnace and A/C. They did an exceptional job not only in the installation but also in explaining how the system worked and how to maintain it in top condition. They even took away my old swamp cooler. The experience could not have been better and both Sebastian and Alex were very friendly and professional. My two cats, who aren't normally so sociable, really liked them and allowed them to pet them, which is quite unusual. I would definitely recommend B&B to my friends.

Very professional and great attention to detail. Had a room without a heat duct and they installed a new run including a core drill through what was previously an outside wall of the home. Great results all the way around. In addition, I shopped this job with 4 other providers including Sears. They were not the cheapest but they were very reasonably priced for top of the line equipment. They were 10 - 40 cheaper than other bids. The cheaper bid was for tier 2 equipment for almost the same price. Very impressed with these guys, highly recommend.

Based on several factors I felt his experience and knowledge was not satisfactory and I would not recommend him, no matter the price. By the way, 3 days after the visit we still have not received a quote.
Description of Work: I had Steve, one of the owners, out for an estimate on replacing a furnace and a/c. I had already had two other companies out, but thought I would go for a third estimate just to see if I could get a better price. Steve was 1/2 hour late, although he did call to let me know he was on the way. When he arrived and I explained that I had a 12 year old furnace and a non-working a/c and was considering replacing both for a more efficient system, he "guess-timated" the size furnace I needed based solely on the size of our house. He didn't check the upstairs, number of windows, amount of insulation, etc. That was the first warning sign. We went down to look at the furnace and we discussed that the furnace was still in good shape, (although he never looked inside the furnace or even checked the age, size or condition of the furnace), so maybe I just needed an a/c. We have a too-large furnace at 135 BTU, he did not mention that since he never checked the size. He measured the ductwork going into the furnace and determined from the ductwork at the furnace that I needed a 4 or 5 ton a/c. He never looked at the cold-air returns on either floor and when I gave him a chance to he brushed it off saying that they could always cut another cold air return in the basement duct work if they needed to. We went outside to see the a/c, which was a 4 ton a/c and he confirmed that this is what he'd put in. He never checked the size of the furnace to see what btu/blower size the furnace had to complement the a/c system. Both other contractors who came in, and from my experience and reading of Consumer Reports literature, tells me he did several things wrong showing lack of knowledge or experience. Based on my actual house insulation, windows, air flow through cold air returns we need a 2 1/2 ton a/c with a 90 BTU furnace. He would have replace the too large a/c and furnace with the exact same thing, causing icing up on the a/c and an inefficient system that couldn't breathe to work well. We will not use them and feel that they have an undeservedly high rating for the knowledge shown.

Response from B&B HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING INC
We would like to thank Regina Gleason for expressing her opinions about our process of estimating. When a customer requests an estimate for new equipment, we only send out two employees. These two employees are Steve Bartunek and Tim Bartels and are the owners of B&B Heating & Air Conditioning. They are not salesman that work on a commission. They are trustworthy individuals that use their 30+ years of personal experience in the heating and air conditioning field to determine what would be the best system for your home. Steve Bartunek currently holds the following certificates: * Energy Star Certified * International Code Certificate * Refrigeration Service Engineers Society * Xcel Preferred Vendor List * Supervisor License in most cities including Denver * Manual J, Manual D, Duct Calculations with Elite Software and we have held a mechanical contractors license in over 30 cities in the metro area. In [member name removed] situation, we would like to express some concerns her statements. [member name removed] requested to have an estimate to add air conditioning to her home. When we arrived, she wanted to have the most cost effective system added to her home without replacing her 12 year old furnace. Her return air drop is 12" x 25" and her duct trunk line is 19" x 8". Her return air drop can handle five tons of cooling but her trunk line is limited to 4tons. When determining the amount of heat loss/gain in a home, you must perform a heat load calculation to determine what size system will work for the home. The heat load calculation in new homes is very precise because you know the exact R-Values of the exterior walls, insulation, interior walls, doors, windows, roof insulation, etc. In existing homes, the R-Values are not available and require the estimator to have the expertise to determine the R-Values. Her duct has been designed for a 4 ton system, and installing a 2.5ton evaporative coil on her existing furnace would restrict the air flow, and the coil would not provide enough cooling for the volume of air that is blowing across the coil. In conclusion, we always tell our customers that they should get at least two other estimates to compare. They should look at the company credentials such as this great website, Better Business Bureau and referrals. They should also look at how long the current owners have owned the business (B&B Heating & Air Conditioning has been in operation with the same owners since 1984). After looking at all of these factors, we know that choosing B&B Heating & Air Conditioning is an excellent choice! Please feel free to call us at 303-423-7905

During a very hot summer, I decided to replace the furnace and install A/C in an older home. I received several bids for the job, and some bidders told me that it would be impossible to install A/C due to insufficient room to place the A/C coils on top of the furnace. B&B not only told me that A/C could be done, but they gave me a fair bid. I really liked the fact that they offer Trane products instead of Lennox. With regards to the furnace, I went with a high efficiency "low boy" furnace which was the only way to have enough room for the A/C coils due to low ceiling height and unconventional duct work in the basement. The guys showed up on time and worked all day long trying to connect an old home's funky duct work to the new units. I have been very pleased with the price, service, and product. Highly recommend.

Steve came out and gave me the estimate. His pricing was inline with others, I thought it was competitive even though it wasn't the cheapest. It was worth what I had paid for. Told us what we needed. they did exactly what we discussed. They actually did a bit more with helping remove an evaporative cooler. They went above and beyond because they finished earlier than expected. When the installation was done, he looked at the electrical panel, he did recommend a electrician to make sure we had enough electric to run the system. After about 5 or 6 month, there was an issue with how the air filter was installed. He sent someone out within a couple of days and did not charge for the service. They stood behind what they did and the warranty.

The job overall went great. They were competent from the first meeting. I had estimates from 4 different companies. B&B was a strong competitor amongst those. The crew that came to do the work was efficient, competent, got things done right and they were on time.

We have a Trane Furnace & Air Conditioning Unit. Using Angie's list B&B was listed as a Trane service company. Since the unit was installed in 2000, we have used 2 other vendors before we retained B&B. We initially used B&B on service call to balance the heating/ac vents and returns. The Tech was very thorough and informative. The movement of heat and air signficantly improved after this call. Because of their quality of work we entered into an annual service contract for the furnace & the A/C unit depending upon the season. In May they performed a detail servicing of the A/C. Based on their timely reminder, they are scheduled to perform maintence on the furnace this month Their work was far better than pervious firms. They are a very responsive professional firm. Their techs are competent and informative giving a detailed briefing at the conclusion of their call. The techs do not attempt to "rachet" you up to buy & install questionable parts. They are straight, spelling out possible scenarios if there is a part in question. Bottom Line: this is a good trustworthy company.

We needed a general cleaning and servicing on our furnace, as well as a certification since we are selling our house. B&B was very responsive, including squeezing me in to a same-day appointment, and was actually available earlier than they thought (they called back and asked if they could come earlier). Their prices are reasonable - they quoted $80 per hour, which would have been the fee if I didn't need the certification as well. The young man that did the work was punctual, professional and cleaned up the work area when he was finished. Overall, very pleased with this service and will use them again.

Estimate for work accurately reflected what we wanted to have done. I was astonished that several of the other estimates that we received did not address heating our poorly heated addition, even though I emphasized that work in our discussions. Work was performed efficiently and cleanly. Adding supply lines to heat our addition took more work than estimated, but they didn't charge any more money to do the work. B&B's estimate was the lowest we received to do all of the work we wanted. Extremely satisfied.

Response from B&B HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING INC
WE TAKE PRIDE IN SERVICING EVERY CUSTOMER WITH THE BEST SERVICE POSSIBLE. UNFORTUNATELY, B&B HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING DID NOT INSTALL THIS SYSTEM. WHEN A TRANE SYSTEM IS INSTALLED, IT IS THE INSTALLING COMPANY THAT COVERS THE LABOR WARRANTY AND TRANE COVERS THE PARTS WARRANTY. THIS SYSTEM HAS A FIVE YEAR PARTS WARRANTY FROM TRANE. THE CUSTOMER WAS NOT BILLED FOR ANY PARTS BUT WAS BILLED FOR THE LABOR. WE REGRET THAT THIS CUSTOMER HAD TO PAY FOR THE LABOR OF A WARRANTIED PART. IF A CUSTOMER WANTS TO HAVE A FURNACE REPAIRED AT NO CHARGE, THEY MUST USE THE ORIGINAL INSTALLATION COMPANY. WE ARE GUESSING THAT THIS IS WHY B&B HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING WAS GIVEN A 'C' IN PRICE.
