I like that they give me free channels every month. I do not like that we lose reception in bad weather.

I've been with them for three years this time. Before that, it was 15 years. When you call, sometimes you get nice persons and sometimes you get some hateful ones, like all the other cable companies. I pay $128 a month for the dish and the internet. I find it pretty high because I don't have any movie channels or anything. They'll go over the phone with you a thousand things that you can fix. If you can't fix it, then it might be 10 days or three or four days. It's not right away. That's for sure. If I had a different option I would probably try that.

I do not get Cinemax, Encore, and Showtime. I just get HBO. I like the Fox Sport channel. Their service is not terrible. It is kind of an automated thing, but it is not better or worst than others and better than some.
Description of Work: Dish is my satellite TV provider.

It went well. Installer wanted us to cut a tree for optimal placement of the satellite. But was willing to work with us when he found out we were renters and couldn't cut any trees. Had to place the dish a little farther from house than recommended, but worked with us to find a solution.
Description of Work: Installed HughesNet/DishNet internet service to our house. Had to set new satellite and run lines into house.

We decided to switch from DirecTV to Dish Network because DirecTV kept raising our monthly bill and we weren't even able to utilize all the features we were paying for. The hopper is advertised as though it itself can record up to 6 shows at once--THIS IS A LIE. The package that we were signed up with is not the package that we wanted or that I discussed with the Dish rep and to have that actual package, we would be back in the same situation we were in with DirecTV financially. If we were to cancel, they would charge us over $700 for the ipad mini, which is not even worth that much. They signed us up with the 120 (which was never even discussed) and we wanted the 250. We (me and the dish guy) even discussed the networks that we watched and talked about what a great deal we were getting because we would end up paying $20 less per month and would have all the same channels. We also were led to believe that we could record up to 6 shows at once per tv, only to find out once everything was installed that it was 6 shows total, so we were thinking 3 upstairs, 3 downstairs, but at least we can view anything recorded on either tv. THEN we found out that the "up to 6 shows" was only with the primetime feature they have (that was never once discussed) and that we could literally only record up to 3 shows. We had 3 shows recording upstairs and went downstairs to watch something else and found that it was not an option--this made us worse off than when we were with Direct. So I called to complain, talked them into sending me another hopper to have our actual recording ability, we get everything set up and THEN find out that we don't have any of the stations that we are used to watching. I called to see what was going on which was when they informed me that we only had the 120 package. To go up to the package we thought we were getting, we would just be paying what we were with Direct. I even called back to have them switch the deals--get the discount rather than the ipad and they said "it has already been processed, blah, blah, blah..." When I asked how much to cancel the account would be, 1 gal said it was like $17 per month for the 24 months. When I called back about switching the deals, I asked how much it would be to cancel and the guy told me it would be $720 for the ipad and $240 for the service. I asked what would happen if I sent the ipad back or if they cancelled that order and then he brought up the "agreement." Then I told him the ipad isn't even worth $720. He kept throwing "agreement" in my face. I said, "so basically you're making me spend like 3 times what this thing is worth and are taking money just to take it because you can?" They aren't held accountable for their promises, however. I would be interested in hearing the recorded conversations. In conclusion, every reason we had for switching to Dish was not even given to us and we're back to where we were before--deceived and over paying. Dish Network lies, they don't follow through on their promises, they don't give you consistent answers to questions, their Hopper does not have the same quality of functions that other DVRs have. It is not worth the money or the hassle.
