Description of Work: I am 83 years old and my cooler went out during the latest heat wave. Royal, recognizing the seriousness of my predictament, was able to rearrange their work schedule to help a senior with health conditions out during his time of need. We need more companies like this.

The provider did nothing, including return phone calls or come out to do a quote. They lost the work, and the money.
Description of Work: I have used Royal Electric in the past, and have been very happy with their service and rates. Recently, I have been trying to get them to give me a few quotes on some projects that I want to have completed. I have called a couple of times and spoke with "Mike" who was going to get together with "Paul" to come out to do the quotes I have requested. I have yet to hear from them, and will now be looking forward to a new relationship with an electrical/HVAC provider.

Description of Work: When we did hire them to install an inline water heater, they pulled as much insulation out of the big hole that they should have not opened,up at all,for 2 small, pipes and floode my carpeted hallway and then tried clean and soak all the water up in my My Kirby Vacuum Sweeper which of course had to go,to the shop,to be repaired. no permit was pulled. When the reginal director who I called came out he said we could have DIED as they had not sealed. At least 5 trips out here to fix the problems. There were many. I cancelled everything as we really had to have our carpet all replaced. Mike Jones at Royal Electric would not even answer my calls. Terrible service all the way around. | Thanks for reading this if you do, Norma L. Charles normac82@comcast.net

This job was a nightmare. The work was done in Fremont County under a State of Colorado issued permit. With full disclosure my mother who is 83 hired Royal Electric. She asked me to get involved after waiting two months for Royal Electric to coordinate an inspection of their work with the State inspector. It took another month and a half for Royal to finish the work with constant prodding from us. The problem started when it was discovered there was no electricity to the house in late November 2013, and my mother contacted Royal. Royal diagnosed the problem as the San Isabel Electric meter having gone bad, but since the house is old, none of the electrical work was to code. My mother was given a verbal estimate of between $4,000 and $5,000 for the work to put in a new line, rewire one breaker and relocate and wire a second breaker box. Royal did that work in early December 2013, up to the point they could go no further until an inspection had been performed. At that time Royal installed a temporary electrical line from a different meter on the property so the furnace could run during the cold weather. Royal charged approximately $1,900 for installation of the temporary line and demanded payment on the spot. After two months my mother asked me to figure out why no inspection had been performed. I had to call DORA to get the permit number and speak with the State Electrical Board. I found that inspections had been attempted several times with notification to Royal of the date and time of the attempted inspections but my mother was never notified so she could have the locked gate open for the inspector on the dates he was attempting to do the work. I also found Royal had given incorrect phone numbers for my mother so the inspector was unable to contact her directly. We coordinated the inspection, but unknown to us the work done by Royal fail the inspection. Our first appointment with Royal after that inspection Royal was a no show at the appointment time of 8am. At 8:45 I was told they were a few minutes to 1/2 hour away because the electrician had needed to get gas and supplies. I said they would need to schedule a new appointment at a time when they were prepared and able to be on time. The second appointment they were on time but insisted the State electrical code required they install smoke detectors. The electricians then spent approximately 4 hours making two trips to and from Pueblo to get battery operated smoke detectors. Again, the work failed the state inspection because the wrong type of wire had been used from the pole to the house and we found out the State DOES NOT require smoke detectors to be installed and the inspector could have cared less if we had battery operated smoke detectors. So it took another appointment with Royal for them to install the correct wire and remove the smoke detectors. Then we had to schedule another appointment with the inspector and the worked pasted inspection at that time in March 2014. We requested consideration in the form of reduction of amounts owed due to the delays, incorrect work performed and the amount of time we had to spend just to keep the work moving, coordinating State inspections and number of times we had to schedule appointments with Royal before they did the work correctly. They did not reduce the $4,000 billed in addition to the previous $1,900 paid and sent the billing prior to the final inspection but started charging interest less than 30 days after the final inspection. It took so long for the work to be done correctly (late November 2013 to early March 2014) and no one at Royal seemed to care during the months we were waiting for their work to be inspected and the job completed. It was a joke and I would not recommend anyone ever use Royal Electric.
Description of Work: Relocate and install new breaker boxes and a new electrical line from pole to house.
