It was a great overall experience. We were not sure exactly what we wanted, but Bret was able to show us and provide samples of numerous possibilities. I had never even seen some of them. He was also able to help us decide which colors would work well together in the different areas. When he was finished we were very happy with the results. Some of the walls look an feel as though they are made of marble. This was a great finish I did not even know existed. In another area he covered a brick fireplace to make it look like a kind of stucco finish like you see on old Italian buildings. Hamilton Decor does an excellent job from start to finish and I would give them the highest rating of any painter (seems like more than painting) I have ever worked with.
Description of Work: We requested a variety of different applications with a number of faux finishes. Our favorite was had never seen before (I believe similar to venetion plaster.) We also covered a brick fireplace with another very nice finish which involved drywall compound as well. Another area was done in a metallic style. There were also rooms that were painted in a more traditional way.

Brett had done painting work for me before. Slightly over priced but great painter. I removed a chimney that sat int he middle of a room. When the chimney was gone drywall was placed, I need it to be taped and mudded. The ceiling had a swirl pattern on the plaster. I had two estimates come through, I went with Brett (although higher than other) because he had done work before. It took longer than estimated by 2-3 days. During the process he was very nice and great to have in the house. He applied several coats, after days they did not dry so he scraped it off and applied a new plaster. When he was finished he asked for more money than estimated because it took longer. In addition to looking horrible I responded that I could not pay him more because he did not know what product to use. In fact I asked him if it was his living room what would he say? He said if he knew he did it he did the best he could. I was shocked and did not know what to do. You could tell where the hole was, it was indented, the swirls were not smooth and instead were chunky and had pores showing. The hole in the basement was just as bad but more difficult to notice because of sand paint used. He knew I was unhappy but took the money and left. Days later a different contractor doing carpentry came in and said it looked awful and he could fix it without pay, He did in 5 hours over 3 days and now it looks great. The second guy said that Brett did not wait for plaster to dry and it was still wet when he removed it.
Description of Work: Repaired two 4x12 holes in ceiling where a chimney previously was.
