The Garbage Man

I have never had a problem with the Garbage Man Service. We have had them for years. We live in the Cottonwood area of Parker and I would recommend them.

I was with them for 3 years. I had fair luck, but they were touchy about what was in the trash. They missed occasionally, but this year it got worse, and other folks I know were having more problems. Due to time, I just resigned this year although I was planning on going with someone else more reliable in March, and haven't had a pickup since. They cancelled service in castle rock, and won't answer the phone, send a refund and won't return messages.

American now puts more demands on what and when they will pick up. Not happy with either company.

I just cancelled my service with The Garbage Man. They stopped picking up my garbage the first part of September for no reason (I had paid my bill!). Each time I called, I was told there was no reason for me to have been missed and they'd send a truck the next day. It finally happened yesterday, after 2 weeks of phone calls and missed garbage pickup. That was too much for me and I can't trust that they'll pick up again. On top of the lousy service, they refuse to give me a refund for the unused portion of my account. But hey - at least they said they wouldn't charge me for terminating my account! Ha! Fortunately, I'm back with my previous trash company who treated me fairly and professionally when I first left them. Lesson learned Garbage Man!

I realized this am that we had written a mediocre review of them in June of last year, so,we had hung in there until now. Again a major delay of recycle pickup after Thanksgiving holiday pushed pickup to Saturday. I am writing this on Wed. and they still have not responded to my calls. Andrew put me off three days. Gave me his "personal number" but did not call back. I cancelled things out this am. I am now downgrading these guys to F. (As in FIRED!)

Called to set up service seeing all of the trash cans in the ally. Was happy with the way they treat you when you call. However, not once did they pick up my trash. I was even on a do not skip list and still got skipped. I wouldn't use this company ever.

Run away, don't walk from doing business with this company! Their biggest claim is that they are a and quot;Green Companyand quot;. Yet week after week I saw them empty my recycle into the same truck that my trash was emptied in. My recycle bin was clearly marked and even had one of their own recycle stickers on it. When you call to complain, they are nice and apologetic, but the problem persists. One time Andrew, who is the area manager and is useless, told me the driver admitted to dumping both the recycle and trash in the same truck and that it was a mistake. The only mistake here, was me staying with them as long as I did. They should not be allowed to do business in Colorado!

A very nice young man came to my door and wanted me to try his garbage service. At the time my garbage company was not doing well. I asked if there was a senior discount and he said they don't do that but they would return my trash can to the garage. I have a bad knee so I thought that would be great. Well, it has now been 5 months and my trash can is rarely taken to the garage. It is taken to the corner of my house where I will hit it when I come home, halfway up the driveway, or just left at the curb. I call every week. Andrew, the Colorado representative, gives an excuse: there is a new driver, the regular driver was sick, etc. He keeps telling me that he will talk to the person that will take care of it. Last week he said he would talk to the owner in this area. That conversation didn't do any good because it was left at the curb AGAIN! I called Andrew again and they said he would call back. I'm still waiting. I, quite honestly, don't know how they go an Angie's Award. After reading the other reviews and adding my experience it's quite mind boggling. Since they have broken my contract I will be calling Andrew back and letting him know that I will be terminating the contract.

They did not service my address, so I wasn't able to use them.

WARNING TO ALL POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS......THEY LIE. You call wondering why they have not picked up the trash and you are reassured in a very convincing voice that they are sorry and this delay has been caused due to the Labor Day holiday, a driver called in sick and whatever LIE they can come up with. I am so sorry that I paid for this service over the phone. Wish I had not paid them until they could prove that they are honest and actually provide the service they promised. I have lived in this house for 32 years and have NEVER experienced anything like this. I was paying $94 every three months for another service and they offered their service plus recycling every other week for $59 so this sounded very enticing. The college kid who was selling this service came to our door and was very convincing that this was a company that was very trustworthy and provided a good, honest service. DON'T FALL FOR THIS LINE.......we are very honest people and apparently we believed that this company was, too. We didn't sign up for this using Angie's list but saw that Angie's list gave this company some kind of award. I am posting this on this site so others can be forewarned. Please NOTE........this service has NOT YET BEEN PERFORMED as promised!!!!!!!!!

Garbageman's price is very competitive, $51.00 for three months. However the service has been somewhat questionable in that they have missed either the trash or recycling every week requiring a call to take care of the missed trash or recycling. A telephone call takes care of the missed service and the company has been courteous and helpful in resolving the problem. After almost a full month they should have it right. My old company never missed a pickup from day one. I am somewhat hesitant to recommend this company at this time and the vote is still out on continuing to use this provider. Hopefully they can get it right. I will update as appropriate.

The Garbage Man is garbage. They miss pick ups. They promise to come get it, they don't. This goes on and on for months. They'll be good for a couple weeks, then they don't show up. The Better Business Bureau has somehow given this company an A- review, and after filing two complaints via the BBB to get the Garbage Man to refund us as they promised they would, I joined Angie's list specifically to let everyone know --AVOID the Garbage Man. Don't be tempted by their prices. If you calculate the number of times they actually show up versus the amount you pay, you are paying waaaay more than if you hired Waste Management (which is one of the most expensive trash men). Unless you want the aerobic benefit of lugging your trash in and out for days while waiting in vain for the Garbage Man to arrive, don't even consider this company. The only choices for "were services performed" are yes or no, and the actual answer is sometimes yes, sometimes no!

See above. These guys have fallen apart. Not to mention the spooky guy of a salesman who has been haunting the neighborhood trying to sell "the product"! At first, he seemed fine, but after a couple of days, he started to park his car in neighbor's driveway while that person was at work for the day without the owner's permission as he canvassed the neighborhood. This guy seemed ok at first, but then, after too many days int the area, he got to be too much, as he came into our backyard patio about "five o'clock somewhere" time as we were watching tv and getting ready for dinner. He barged in to ask if he could borrow one of our scooters to ride to one of his appointments a bit farther afield as his car sat across the street in the driveway ... The unpermitted space ( see above) Back to my main point! It is now 8:30 on the Wednesday following the Memorial Day weekend slack off. The bin is still there.... Untouched by human hands, or better yet, a "Garbage Man" hands and truck!

So far, they've been absolutely horrible. They've missed our recycling pickup for several weeks now and it's overflowing. When we called customer service, they told us to either wait a couple weeks for the next pickup or drive it over to their location for recycling. I'm not wasting my own gas when I'm paying for this service in the first place. They also say that they are going to send someone out for pickup the following day and will follow up the next day, but neither has happened. Terrible customer service overall! Also when I signed up, Greg, the salesman said that they will cancel service with WM on my behalf and I had to call WM myself to cancel since the rep at WM said that they do this all the time and that they cannot accept what Garbage Man sends over to cancel service. Once the 3 months are up, we're going back to Waste Management!

GarbageMan markets itself as the local company yet customer service is in Minnesota. I've was once transferred to dispatch who does not have the name 'GarbageMan'' but I don't recall what company name was given when they answered my call. They call themselves a Green company but it's the recycle they can't get right. My recycle has now been missed four times and once I watched as they dumped my recycle container (marked in large spray painted letters on the lid) in with the regular garbage. Friday was my pickup day. On one occasion I was promised a special pick up on Monday since they had missed two consecutive recycle pickups. Again I wheeled my recycle to the curb only to have GarbageMan NOT show up. I was told when I started the service they would put the trash containers up close to the house just like Pro Disposal had always done for me. After calling them on the recycle problems and reminding them of this they began to put the containers by the house... Sometimes. You're told when the salesman comes to your door that you can cancel at anytime if you're not satisfied with the service. Reality is that when you call they will tell you that you are under a two year service contract. I've given them enough chances to correct their problems and have gone back to Pro Disposal.

The Garbage Man (TGM) had their sales rep going door-to-door. Offered both trash and recycling for a bit less than Waste Management. I'm a strong believer in competition, so I decided to give them a shot. Extra bonus for us is a preferred pick-up day. Put it out Sunday night, and it's gone Monday. The only very minor issue is that they claimed that they could cancel our Waste Management service for us. No so, had to do it ourselves. No big deal. Good service.

This is quite literally THE WORST service I have ever experienced. Regular trash pick-up has been decent, definitely wouldn't say stellar, but I've been paying for recycling service that I don't receive. I'm safer to bet that they won't pick it up then relying on them providing the service that I'm paying for. I have to call constantly because they don't show up, then when they guarentee me that they will come the next day to get my recycling, they STILL don't show up. I had some furniture and junk that I needed hauled away outside of my regular trash pickup, which I hired this company to remove. My junk sat on my curb for 2 1/2 weeks! Several phone calls later they finally picked it up. I would categorize them as the most incompetent service provider I have ever encountered. They are a joke and I am impressed that they keep enough customers to continue the business. It's truly a shame, because I'm all about supporting and promoting local family owned businesses. But they do very little to nothing to earn the respect and praises of their customers.
