The owner and his son showed up about 5 minutes late. They walked through the house to quote our two projects. The downstairs project was simple -- 150 linear feet of drywall at 2 foot high with an orange peel texture. The area was pre-demo'd, and all the carpet was out so there was no clean work constraint. The providers took no measurements and spent most of the time telling me how difficult the job was. I have hung a lot of drywall in my life, and I am very aware of the size and scope of any project. Instead, I got the feeling that they were looking to take advantage of the flood by soaking customers. As I said, no measurements were taken or pictures shot, but there was a lot of whistling and saying "boy, this is a big project." When they finally estimated, they gave me a quote of $3500 just for the downstairs and four days of time, which was ridiculous for the size of project. The same day, I got two quotes in the $600-$800 range from other suppliers and the work was completed in about 8 total hours (over two days) by another contractor. Stay away. It take a special kind of businessman to try to take advantage of people in a bad position due to a natural disaster, and I was lucky in that I knew what I was looking at and what to expect from a cost perspective.
Description of Work: The provider came in and quoted drywall repair work for my flooded basement and an damaged upstairs room. I only received quotes and did not proceed with work.

Great communication and punctuality thoughout the job. Jason and Colin took great care in protecting the existing paint and floors by laying down rosin paper on the floor and plastic on the walls prior to starting the job. They did a fantastic job bringing a nasty popcorn-textured ceiling into the 21st century by scraping, priming, recoating, then lightly texturing the reclaimed surface. They repaired all stress cracks on the walls and did a great job finishing some newly hung drywall. They were very sensitive toward our drains by not using them to dispose of the drywall mud waste. After completion, they did a great job cleaning up and removing all construction debris and waste. I would definitely recommend Sterling Drywall to anyone looking for a great job and honest, dependable workers.
Description of Work: Removed popcorn-accoustical texture from ceiling and repaired and reskimmed the underlying drywall. Applied a light texture to match existing walls. Taped, installed bullnose corners and finished newly hung drywall to a high degree of smoothness.
