Josh and Justin arrived right on time and showed me the sad state of my existing sump pump. Turns out it had been submerged in water for a LONG time. They quickly installed the new sump pump and reconnected all of the necessary pipes to ensure proper pumping/drainage. They were fast, professional and friendly.

Plumber returned our initial call within 24 hours. Work was scheduled within the next 48 hrs. Technician arrived on time and was courteous and professional.

The previous owner had broken the stem of the water bib off -- no way to repair it. The copper water line ran down the middle of a wall before going down to a T and it had twisted off inside a hole drilled through a 2x4 stud in the wall behind the dryer. There was no way to isolate and turn the line off; the main shutoff was the only way, so we had no water until this got repaired. I called two other plumbers (They have never called back.) and, in frustration, began to try to make the repair myself before going to Angie's List. In the process, I had made the repair -- simple for a professional -- much harder. Kelly called me back in 20 minutes to let me know he couldn't get anyone out for at least a day. However, when I explained the problem and he found our location was very close, he was agreed to come and arrived on time. I had most of the parts but, without the right tools, had made the job much more difficult. It must have been a frustrating job but he was patient. All things considered, the price seemed very reasonable.

He took care of getting everything done. I would use him again. He is just honest and straightforward and tells you what he thinks. I really like that. Actually he came out and inspected because he hired some subcontractors. He came out and I paid him last week. So, it was an ongoing process because they had other jobs and then it snowed. I was amazed at the skill of the backhoe guy. There wasn’t anything beyond the price already quoted. The other bid we got was $10700 and they were going to do the same thing. They had done our neighbor’s place. So, his price was very reasonable and he did it for that. I would definitely use him again. He is going to be our new plumber.

Called Monday, he called back very soon and scheduled for first thing on Tuesday. On time arrival. He said he didn't want to sell a part unnecessarily and that if the repair didn't work, he'd come back without an additional service charge and install a new part. His fix worked and I am very satisfied.

After purchasing a new home, Kelly Hummel promised that he would resolve all of our leaks -- and there were plenty. He did exactly what he said he would do, and the price was good. He brought in a crew of apprentice plumbers to do most of the work. They did fine, for the most part, but a few items had to be re-done the next day. For example, two of the stop valves leaked after installation and the apprentice didn't notice. Also, the new garbage disposal gushed (rather than leaked) and needed to be completely removed and re-installed. Kelly was good for his word and made certain that all problems were resolved to our satisfaction. As a result of our good feelings for Kelly Hummel and his crew, we decided to use him to resolve another problem with another house that we own. In that home, the kitchen sink needed to be replaced, and all of the under-sink plumbing needed to be re-done. Additionally, we had two toilets to replace. We called to arrange a time. The earliest Kelly could get there was about a week later. Given the tight schedule we were on, we couldn't wait a week. So we called another plumber to do the job. Unfortunately, his standards of quality did not match our requirements and we let him go. We called Hummel Plumbing again to come to our rescue, because we knew that Kelly and his crew could do a good job -- even if we had to wait a week. When the situation was explained to him, Kelly stated that he would not do any work for us ever again since we had shopped around. He said that he demanded TOTAL LOYALTY from his customers. Kelly's response was completely unprofessional. It was emotionally disruptive, and caused us to wonder what kind of a person chooses to treat his return customers in such a manner. His behavior has turned our thoughts from positive ones, to absolute negative. Given that we live in a society where the customer has free will and the ability to decide for him/herself who provides service, his demand of total loyalty is completely unreasonable -- especially when his schedule is not compatible with your needs. As a result of his behavior, he has lost us as his customers. We will never recommend him. Whenever people ask us for plumbing references, we convey this story -- then recommend someone else.

I heard about this company from my sister who had hired them on a rush basis to fix a broken pipe earlier in the week. She was thrilled with the service and the price. Didn't realize I'd need them so quickly. The disposal went out and my husband's efforts to get it going again were unsuccessful. I called Hummel about 8:30 am and they were here before Noon. I was stunned when Josh came in and put on a pair of plastic booties to protect my floor from his wet boots. He went right to work, diagnosed the problem as a dead motor and replaced the unit in about 15 minutes. Service call and new disposal cost exactly what they said it would.
