Tom finished a custom dining table for me that I'd had made. I wanted it to be a very specific color of gray and was really concerned that he wouldn't be able to accomplish that. I am very particular (my husband would say uber pickey), but when I saw the table I was thrilled, not only with the color but the actual finish... that was the other thing... I wanted a low sheen and he got it just right. Tom is very personable and a delight to work with. I will definitely consider him for any future jobs I might have. Thanks again Tom.

I am so thrilled we met Tom because the restoration work he does is so exceptional it surpassed any of our expectations. He literally made old family heirlooms look new and beautiful again. How fun it is to be using the furniture our grandparents and great-grandparents owned and used! I also felt Tom has very reasonable pricing items so it was fesibly possible to refinish them. I am so happy with his work and will definitely hire his expertise again!

It went extremely well, he showed up on time, was very professional, courteous and overall is a great guy. The furniture was refinished back to as close to original as possible and looks outstanding. The job was actually completed ahead of schedule and we are thrilled with the results. Our Mid-Mod dining room is off to a great start and we look forward to keeping these pieces in the family until they are handed down to our children. We are even considering adding more chairs if we can find them, and plan on using American Heritage again to get them refinished.
Description of Work: We inherited a family heirloom, Heywood Wakefield furniture from the 1950's. Through the years some of the pieces had been refinished while others were left alone. We were surprised this furniture actually held its value over time and contacted Tom to refinish the pieces back to their original color and finish. These included a Buffett, Dining table, and chairs.

The refinishing of the end table went well. The color was what I wanted and the price was reasonable. While it was delivered later than had been estimated, that wasn't a major problem. The stools were a different experience. Because the stools were in daily use, we agreed that they would be finished independently. When the first one was picked up we had a discussion re the desired color of the refinishing. Tom suggested a dark cherry tone for and quot;contrastand quot; (The fabric to be used for the re-uphostering was light colored) I told him that I wanted a lighter color... ex. and quot;honey-mapleand quot; and showed him a rocker that had the desired tone.Tom had told me that the work would take a couple of weeks. After 3 and a half weeks when I had not heard anything, I called and was told by a female that it would be another week. A day later I was called by Tom and we agreed on a delivery date a couple of days later. When the stool arrived the color was the dark tone originally recommended by Tom. I did not say anything because I wanted the second stool to match and the time was already longer than anticipated, The second stool was delivered about two weeks later and does match in color, although darker than I wanted. The upholstery on both stools is and quot;sloppyand quot; at best. Ex.The black fabric lining underneath is not cut straight and/or even. I was annoyed by Tom's comments re how long he had taken to complete the work on the first stool and quot; It's been a couple of weeksand quot; when it was closer to double that and then commenting on how he would like a positive review.
Description of Work: Essentially there were two jobs; one was refinishing an end table and the other was re-finishing (wood base) two upholstered stools.

Tom was friendly, prompt, and professional. He worked hard to please me with the stain color and did a wonderful job. He finished in great time, and patiently stored my piano while we waited for the piano movers to put me into their schedule. I will definitely recommend him to others; and I will be happy to ask for his help again in the future. My piano looks so beautiful.....it should be good to go for another 100 years!!!

Tom came to the house and evaluated the 3 pieces that needed repair work. Two of the pieces are over 200 years old - were wobbly, and had chips. The other piece, about 150 years old had broken pieces. He arrived on time, was knowledgeable, told me what he recommended, gave me a very reasonable price and time frame and took the pieces. When he brought them back I was very impressed with the work. The pieces are now usable and he maintained the integrity of their original finish. Can't ask for more.I will definitely use Tom's services again and would recommend him in a heartbeat!

We echo all the positive reviews written about Tom! He is a wonderful and very professional person to work with. He's friendly, prompt, responsible, and isn't satisfied till we're satisfied! We love the expert work on all pieces that he did for us. The free pick up and delivery is such a convenience and an added bonus. We appreciated that service! The last time he came to our house , we sent him home with 4 end tables to restore with his expertise! He knew just what to do. Tom loves what he does and it shows with each project. We had lived with our furniture in worn condition for a very long time, thinking we wouldn't be able to have them refinished because of the cost. But Tom's fee's are very fair and reasonable!! We love his work and highly recommend him to everyone!
Description of Work: Tom refinished 3 pieces of furniture and a problem dresser drawer. He took our pie safe, which was old and falling apart when we bought it over 40 years ago, and made it look like new again! He glued it back together and made a new shelf that had been missing. The finish was done to our exact wishes! Tom also removed white antique crackle paint from my childhood maple dresser with attached mirror and brought the finish back to its original beauty. Plus he took the matching chest of drawers that I have and restored its finish to match the dresser! My husband has a drawer from a chest of drawers that kept falling out every time he opened it and Tom did some construction work and made it perfect!

I called Tom on a Friday. He picked up the furniture the next day. Repairs on miscellaneous pieces that I really wanted done, but had no hope that they could be done - well, Tom knew exactly what to do! And, he did them beautifully. The prices were a lot less than I had expected and, I thought, very fair. He had the furniture six weeks because I didn't want it back sooner because I had other things going on. He brought them back right when I was ready. Great experience!
Description of Work: Tom Loner refinished two very old, very damaged, but somewhat valuable bureaus and a desk. He repaired a side table, a dining table chair, a standing mirror, and a rocking chair rung. I was thrilled with the results and so glad I went this way rather than replacing these pieces. Tom is great to work with, friendly, professional, positive, and very knowledgable about what he was doing. I highly recommend his work.

I contacted Tom Loner to see if you could help with the restoration of a family heirloom. We had a mirror shipped to us from NY to Colorado that arrived badly damaged. The mirror was made in Italy and estimated to be 40-50 years old. It has an ornately carved frame and the bird was broken off the top and in many pieces. Tom came over and gave us an estimate for the insurance company (without charging like some others do) and then came back a couple months later to pick up the mirror to start the restoration (delay caused by waiting for insurance to come through). He returned it promptly. We were very happy with the results. Please see attached before and after photos. Tom not only did an excellent job but he was a pleasure to work with. A very nice guy who takes his work seriously and guarantees it. I highly recommend Tom and will use his services again without question.

I couldn't be more pleased. He showed up right on time on Monday September 2, gave me a price for each piece, told me which items he would need to take with him and which items he would do at my house the next time he came. He then explained that he would need half down and that I would pay for the items he did at the house at that appointment. I would pay for the items he took with him when he delivered them. Our next appointment was today, September 6. He not only fixed the pieces at my house but he also brought with him the pieces he had taken on Monday. So in four days I had six pieces of furniture returned to their original condition. Tom is very pleasant, explains what he is doing if you are interested (I was interested.), and is a real craftsman. It's obvious that he loves what he does. He is careful but not slow, knows exactly what to do when and even had two jobs going at the same time. (While one was drying, he started working on another.) He's on the top of my list for furniture repair. .
Description of Work: Tom refinished a game table and cedar chest top at his shop. While he was at my home, he repaired my dining room table that had been damaged in a move, touched up the seat of a wooden rocker that had scratches, and reattached the arm of a chair. I also had damage done to a china cabinet when I moved to Germany years ago. The repairs that were done in Germany were definitely not professional. When I showed it to Tom today, he offered to fix it right on the spot. Everything looks like new!! And I mean everything.

Tom did an excellent job and was very personable. He was very attentive to covering as many surfaces as possible to mitigate the dust transferring to the furniture and other areas of the house, which was a big concern of mine. The job was quick and the end product looks very nice. We will definitely be recommending American Heritage to others and plan to work with Tom again for any future refinishing needs.

Tom completed the work in one week, returning the two chairs he had taken with him in lovely condition and touching up the others in the set where needed. He did all of this for the total cost of $125.
Description of Work: Tom responded to my request to have a seat refastened to an antique wood chair. He came to look at the chair and said he could fix it, but his minimum price is $125. We discussed the need for touching up the finish on several of the chairs. He agreed to take two chairs with him (the one needing a seat repair and one other, the two most needing touch up on the finish) and said he would bring his touch up kit with him when he returned the chairs after completing the work.

I have a favorite wrought iron kitchen table and chairs with an oak top and oak seats. I love the table but I am not a fan of golden oak. The table top was also in bad shape from 15 years of daily use. Tom suggested a black cherry stain to complement my kitchen cabinets with a satin finish and I couldn't be happier. It looks like a brand new table and it looks beautiful in my brand new kitchen. I am so happy with his work, I am entrusting him with a small buffet that belonged to my grandmother, an old maple table that belonged to my parents, and other pieces that have been sitting in my basement for years. I am thrilled I found Tom on Angie's List and I have already recommended him to several friends.

Tom came to my house to view what work I needed done to the dining room chairs. He determined the chairs were circa 1930 and had probably never been worked on since new. The chairs were very wobbley and the chair seats were basically upholstered boards. I also had one antique chair from the Southwest Bell Company that had a split seat and needed repair. I provided upholstery material and off Tom went with my 5 chairs. We are moving out of state and I needed the repairs done before we leave. My chairs were returned by Tom yesterday. Wow, they are beautiful and sturdy. The Southwest Bell chair will now be a part of my kitchen set and can withstand daily use. The dining room chairs are stunning with the new upholstered cushioned seats and Tom even put a coat of lacquer on all of the chairs, which brings out the beautiful wood. Tom was so kind to get the right thickness of cushion padding for my chairs and I really appreciate the home pickup and delivery. I only hope I can find quality workmanship at my new home as I found in American Heritage Furniture Restoration.

In the 1980s, we inhereted two pieces of furniture with great sentimental value. One was a huge buffet, the other was a china hutch. They were in horrible shape. The inside of the china hutch had been painted a nasty shade of green, and the buffet was literally in pieces. When we tried to have them repaired over the years, the price to do so was astronomical. We are not wealthy people, so as we moved around the country over the last 30 years, we lugged those two pieces of furniture with us. They sat in numerous garages and basements, but were too far gone to ever display in the house. A few months ago, we discussed throwing them out, but as always, the wonderful family story attached to them made us hesitate. We decided to give restoration one last try. Several companies gave us bids. Everyone was in the $4000 to $6000 range. And we are still not wealthy people, so with a heavy heart, we made plans to have them picked up and discarded. The company that would remove them and junk them was going to cost us almost $500, as they are big, heavy pieces. And then, we found Tom Loner at American Heritage Furniture Restoration. Tom came within a day of my phone call and quoted us a price of $1800 for the two pieces, which included pick up and delivery so that we didn't have to get them to his shop (the pieces weigh 600 lbs combined, so this was huge.) We felt that this was VERY reasonable for the amount of work that was needed. He came on time to pick them up. He completed the job on time and delivered them when he was done. And best of all, they are BEAUTIFUL. The buffet is back together. The wood gleams. The brass shines. The ugly green paint in my china hutch is gone. Tom took something that was going to go into the trash, and turned it into something that anyone would lust after in the finest antique store. If I have one regret, it is that I didn't find Tom a long time ago, so that I could have enjoyed these pieces over the last 30 years. I will definitely use Tom again in the future. He is kind, reliable, honest, and excels at his work. I cannot give him a better recommendation than that. Thank you Tom and Miguel!

He tightened and glued all the chairs. Fixed the arm chair which was very unsafe. One of the curved legs was missing a piece and he made a replacement that blended right into the leg. The wood was in good shape so now they are like new! I plan on him refinishing the top of a new entertainment center that was ruined by water this fall.
