We ended up purchasing the home and required the seller to use Agape to make repairs to the roof. Agape charged $6,781.25 for the work. After we moved in, I got up on the roof and noticed that there were several areas where the original shake was split, cracked or missing such that the underlying felt was exposed. I had done my research and clearly what I was seeing was not acceptable. This raised my suspicions about the work done so I decided to count the number of shake replaced. The original quote called for 600-625 new shake. I counted exactly 563 new shake. Making a quick calculation, we ended up paid $12.04 per shake replaced. We were also shorted by 10% of the number of shakes Agape recommended to complete the repair. I sent the owners an email explained the situation along with photos of the missed areas. I received an email back referring me to tiny print in the contract which states that there is "no guarantee that all eroded and weather-split shakes will be replaced: usually the work performed includes the worst of the damaged shakes (we use our expert discretion to determine which one those are)." I then called the owner and asked him to come up so that we could look at the roof together. He promised to call to schedule an appointment the next time he was in the area. I never heard from him again. The next communication I get is a quote in the mail for an additional $7,198.45 to replace 645-655 broken, missing and weather split shake. Needless to say I was floored by this. Essentially Agape is trying to charge me to do work that was contracted for the first time around. Not only did they miss areas the first time, they shorted us 10% on the number of shake contracted for. Now they want to charge me even more the second time around to fix the roof. While the work actually done was acceptable, overall this company is significantly overpriced, hides behind the small self-serving print of their contract, and is afraid to meet you face to face. I do not recommend this company. Don't be fooled by their website.

They do what they say and I have used them for probably the last five years for regular roof maintenance. They always do a good job and they clean up. They give free estimates and so you know what you are looking at going forward. They stick to their estimate. I am very satisfied with them.

They were very professional. Roof was fixed within expectations. Very good communication from Karl and others.

Karl is one of the straighest shooters I know. He knows roofing and he's honest to a fault. He actually tried to discourage me from doing some work, saying it wasn't necessary, but I paid him to do it anyway. I suppose the only negative with these guys is that they don't like doing work unless it's really necessary. I had to ask them to add more shingles to the bill because he said they weren't needed, why put the money into it now -- wait till hail season is over and then do the work. But they did what I asked.

Carl was great from start to finish making sure that we understood what was needed, required and what was overkill. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive, but we felt the most honest. Note that we had to replace due to a hail storm so everyone and their brother was out trying to make money and make as much as they could, we didn't feel that way with Carl. The team of roofer took care that none of the the materials went into our dog pen. Carl came by during the work to make sure everything was going ok. At the end of the job Carl came by to ensure we were happy, there was one are by a bay window that I thought showed to much metal flashing (difference in height between shake and regular) it fixed it right up. Had several feet of snow fall so far this winter and I made my husband check the attic, all clear. LOVE the new roof!

Agape does not provide estimates, it provides contracts at a fixed price. I expected a true-up or at least an accounting, but they refused both and demanded full payment of contract price. Minus materials, I estimate I paid the equivalent of $200-250/hour for labor. Workman came unannounced when I was not home, did not come to finish when promised, and completely ignored leaking skylight, which was main reason for the job. Didn't know it was ignored until major snow a month later, when it leaked profusely and caused interior damage. They did come back and fix it after I notified them of the problem. The work actually performed was satisfactory. If you use them, do not sign a contract without a stipulated price for labor and materials and an agreement to provide a detailed accounting of it when the job is complete.
