The Company sent a sub contracting crew into our home. They absolutely destroyed our property. They did not prepare or prime any windows or doors, the paint is uneven, has runs and peels off. The windows cannot be closed properly as they have painted all the hardware and fittings, and those that are closed, will not open, having been painted shut. The paint peels off if they are forced apart. Paint on the walls is unevenly applied, not one whole coat, never mind the contracted two coats! Entire walls have been destroyed with the use of canned spray on texture, dripped everywhere, on windows, doors and walls. New wood floors have been painted, over sprayed, damaged by water, scratched and dented. The new balustrade stain has been over sprayed, painted and the wooden banister has had chips taken out of it. Every door handle and hinge, every switch plate, covered in paint. Every light fixture and fan is covered in spray. Furniture was not covered, even when I pointed out paint on bedsheets, the same furniture was not ever covered. My furniture was used to stand on like a ladders ( the dirty foot prints had to be cleaned off). My children's clothing was sprayed white in their closets ( where the doors were supposed to be removed and painted by roller). Our furniture has been damaged and painted, our cabinetry has been painted, our pipes have been blocked by dried up latex paint. The ceilings, which did not all need painting, are now covered with wall paint, as is my kitchen cabinetry, and the ceilings have been "touched up" with not only the wrong color of paint but the wrong finish! All this happened six months ago now, and the company has done NOTHING to provide restitution to us. I lodged a claim with their insurance company, only to be told that Sharper Impressions had cancelled the claim and declined to use their insurance. It is fraudulent to advertise your insurance policy for a customers protection and then to withdraw it. Now they have a lawyer that plays games with us too. They actually have the nerve to tell us we cannot repair items in our house, that they damaged. It does not matter to them that the doors and windows don't close and we cant keep the house warm, or the children safe. They have ruined our home and still choose not to pay for the repairs. Every professional that comes to our home is absolutely horrified, many have said that in decades of painting they have NEVER seen such damage and poor workmanship. We are utterly astounded that anyone involved in that company can sleep at night, they should be deeply horrified at their company/ employers treatment of us. It is shameful. Description of Work: Our contract with Sharper Impressions Painting was to paint all interior walls, two coats, three ceilings, and all interior windows and doors, including trim. The contract says that they use professional painters, and also that all furniture/ belongings will be protected/ covered. The contract states that the company holds a $2 million dollar insurance policy to protect customers. As well as this written contract, we also specifically asked what type of primer/ sanding was required to be applied to the solid wood doors and windows, and if these would be sprayed or rolled. We were told that the windows and doors would be properly primed and that the method of paint application would be up to the individual painter.

Never, perhaps even Never hire these people when so many good quality contractors are available. Did I say...Never hire them. When a company experiences a high level of turnover,(Denver office) red flags go up. Could be good reasons for it, but it's something to look closely into. Paul Truex is listed on this site and he's been gone almost 3 yrs from the company. Multiple managers since then, including a NEW one in the last 2 weeks in Denver. When the crew came out, without Mr Truex being present as promised, they power washed, patched and painted same day. Major peeling occured almost immediately around every door and window. They been promising warranty repairs since Oct of 2010. Promises... then didn't show up on the dates promised to fix it. His response is below. I am sorry it took so many attempts to get a response. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks, Julie Haley ? We received your warranty submission in writing awhile ago. At that time, you and your requests were locked into our warranty schedule. We donand acirc;??t even begin warranty work until the weather is optimum for fixing warranty issues. That best weather time frame is always summertime.? It is dry and warm with little chance of moisture. We have found with these types of conditions our warranty work lasts a long time and looks great. You were locked into our warranty schedule before and you are currently reserved for late July when we get thru our other warranty work. I apologize if you have not received that in writing.? But, I assure you, we have you scheduled for the latter part of July and will call as we get closer. ? I was very unhappy with the product. They were supposed to start in August and they didn't start until October, they just gave one excuse after another. They changed the price in the contract to $1,000 more once they got here. They were late every day, or they didn't show up at all. There were some things in the finished product I was unhappy about but I signed off anyways because I wanted them gone. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with.

I agree on the other review, you really have to stay on top of these guys as there seems to be a lack of communication and followup. Same experience, after sending in my signed quote, I didnt hear from them and had to follow up, multiple times. I should have stopped there and not had them do the painting. Once I did get them scheduled, they showed up when they said they would, and reviewed with me how each room should be painted, which colors, etc. which I thought was a good start. However, one item of great concern was one worker brought his 3 year old daughter to my home. At first I thought it might just be a temporary situation as Scott had told me the worker had to drop the daughter off, so I had thought that someone was coming to pick her up but they never did. The little girl was at our house all day, eating candy we had sitting on our kitchen counter, leaving trash on the floor and in our yard, playing in our basement (which was not a room that was being painted), playing in the yard, etc, and was unattendend for most of the day. Don't get me wrong, I love kids, this just wasn't very professional OR responsible in my opinion. Another concern was that even after review of some of the details of how the rooms should be painted (for example, dont paint the inside ledges of the windows, dont paint the top of the closet, etc) a lot of those details were missed/ignored. The workers also spilled about a 3-4 inch spot of paint on our carpet, did a very bad job of cleaning it up, and then never informed me of the accident as I had to discover it after they were already gone. Overall, the painting that they did was a decent (not great) job. But due to the lack of professionalism, I would not recommend them.

First of all, the crew was not who we expected. They were all Spanish speaking which is fine and they brought along a women with a newborn to interpret who turned out to be the wife of one of the crew. Rather then follow the contract which stated that everything EXCEPT the doors would be hand painted, they sprayed all of the surfaces and made a huge mess in the house. Although the contract stated that painters tape and tarps would protect furniture and floors, it wasn't protected. Additionally, many adjacent walls were coated with paint and dust, mirrors not related or even close to the painted surfaces were covered, plants were covered, the floors were a mess, the furniture had a layer of paint overspray and dust, etc., etc. The doors were brought to the garage to be sprayed but the ledges on 50% of the top panels of the doors had inadequate coverage (you could still see the stained wood). There were many areas both on the doors and the jams/frames that had paint drips and over-sprayed areas. Overall the paint job was substandard and very poor. We contacted the main office both verbally and via email so we would have a written paper trail and were given the run around. Since they are an A+ BBB rated company and after MANY months of being put off, we had no choice but to contact the BBB. The owner of the company then told us that since we did that, there was nothing he could do to rectify the situation. We finally went to arbitration on 11/27/12, a bit over one year later, presented pictures, the written paper trail of emails and promises but very surprisingly lost our case. The owner of Sharper Impressions delayed the hearing over and over again and then only had to call in to the meeting while we had to attend at their convenience in downtown Denver. The only thing Sharper Impressions had to supply within 30 days of the arbitration hearing was the paint they used. They missed that deadline as well and when we contacted BBB to tell them we hadn't received it, they contacted the owner who said he was not informed that he had to do this. Overall Sharper Impressions and the whole process of being an A+ BBB rated company was a joke and the work was miserable. I would strongly recommend NOT USING Sharper Impressions. In addition the arbitration hearing with BBB was laughable; they didn't hold the painter to his contract and the arbitrator wasn't very informed regarding interior painting quality.
Description of Work: Sharper Impressions was one of four solicited bids obtained to paint the interior trim in our home from the builder's standard wood trim stain to a painted wood trim. This included 20 six-panel doors, 16 door jams, 4 window sills, and 3 window ledges. The bid included a very detailed estimate complete with pictures of doors and jams to be painted, what was expected of us and exactly what they would do and how they would prepare the items to be painted. We received the bid on 8/5/11 and entered into a contract with them on 8/19/11 for painting to begin later in the year. Per the contract, I removed all wall hangings, window treatments and moved furniture to the center of the rooms. Although the contract stated that they would remove the switch plates and outlet covers, I did that as well. I also marked the doors per their request and removed all the doorknobs and accompanying hardware. I did not remove the closet door pulls as I didn't know how to and assumed they would cover them with tape. They DID NOT remove them or cover them but rather painted right over them. The contract stated that they would repair minor drywall on any holes, gouges, major nicks, nail pops and cracks and use touch up caulk as necessary which they DID NOT do. I asked them to specifically fix one item and through their interpreter, they said they couldn't do it.

Very impressed with the initial meeting with Scott from this company. But then after faxing them the signed contract I didn't hear anything from them for 2 weeks and had to contact Scott for a start date. The crew was all English speaking and seemed genuinely interested in doing a good job. Before starting, Scott and the crew met with me to discuss how I wanted the downspouts painted because some of them had 2 colors. I explained to all of them what I wanted. After 2 days of work they left and forgot to paint the downspouts. Overall, nice people who did good work. I would recommend them but only if you can stay on top of them. They are severly lacking in communication skills.
Description of Work: Painting of all exterior trim plus gutters and downspouts. Caulked around all windows.
