The estimate and installation went fine. In an effort to save some money I provided a few of the pieces of the equipment that they had specified for my theatre instead of buying through them. I was able to save a few hundred dollars by getting the subwoofer, bluray, and receiver at other retailers. I want to note that these were the exact models and were not refurbished pieces. A few weeks after the install we started getting lines in our picture. After they came out to try and fix and were unable they told us it was the receiver (that they specified). We had to start switching the cable from the projector directly to the bluray when we watched any bluray or streaming videos. We also had trouble getting the wii to work properly and had to discontinue using it in the theatre room. After a year and a half of doing this we started getting lines again even with the switch. After much work on our part it was determined it was the cable. We called home audio back to try to fix. The first comment on the phone was "oh, you the one who purchased you stuff on the internet (NOT TRUE). Every conversation I had included a comment of this type to include a billing question. I let it pass and made an appointment. They then came out and ended up saying it was the bluray. I purchased a new one and we still had the lines. I called them again. Again they said "oh your the one who got your equipment on the internet". I'm now realizing they are trying to blame anything but the equipment they provided. They come out again and end up replacing the cable to the projector and that has fixed it (What happened to the receiver being the problem? It's stll the same one). They charged us labor for the work. Since my husband helped and it was probably the cable all along I'm not sure we should have been charged anything. Don't use them if they do not provide all the equipment or you will end up hearing about it. They will let every employee know. I wanted to use a local business but was disappointed with how I was treated. I don't mind sharing this experience with my neighbors.

Response from HOME AUDIO-VIDEO
Original installation for this customer was completed in June,2010. Client also requested our services for 2 more installations after the original June timeframe. As stated, customer purchased some equipment from other retailers which we often suggest if they can get the same item for less. After installation, we determined the receiver (that was not purchased through Home Audio-Video) was at fault and customer was encouraged to return it to retailer. As customer stated, this was never done. Customer purchased a short HDMI cable from a retailer to address the lines on the tv. It was strewn across the ceiling. Customer called HAV in January 2013 to address this 3 year old problem. At the service call, we replaced the HDMI cable (free of charge) with a longer one through the ceiling with the husband's help. This did not solve the problem as with HDMI, the further away you get from the source in digital communication, the weaker the signal. The receiver was still the problem and was not replaced. Customer wanted HAV to provide the service under warranty that was long out of date, and for a product (the receiver) that was not provided by us. We did not charge for the cable and due to the customer's dissatisfaction, charged 1/2 hour for a 1 hour service call. The husband had helped which cut a 2 hour service call to 1 hour. We warranty our labor and equipment for 1 year after installation and equipment sometimes has its own warranty through the manufacturer. It is not feasible for us to service equipment we did not sell without charge nor is it reasonable to expect that after 3 years, we should warranty an installation that included parts that we did not provide. We regret when our customers are unhappy and try to resolve issues in mutually satisfactory ways. We were unable to do that in this case.
