William came out to the site for a quote, I explained everything I wanted to do, he quoted me a price and said he wanted to do the job, and we set a tentative date for the work. His business was not listed on Angie's List, but he seemed knowledgeable and gave me a good quote so I decided to take a gamble. It was getting into fall and I wanted to get the work done before the weather got cold. He asked me to directly purchase some materials myself for the job, which I did. As the tentative date approcahed he rescheduled me 3 times to a date further out. Ultimately this moved the scheduled work date back about 10 days. The weather was holding and so I was willing to wait. I took the day off work to be available to assist on the day he would be working. Finally on the day the work was to be performed, I did not hear or see him in the morning. Finally I called him at 9am and asked him what his plan was. He said he had to stop at another job and he would be here in about 2 hours. At 1:18pm I called him because I still hadn't seen or heard from him. He said his assistant had gotten arrested over the weekend and he had to fix one of his assistant's jobs before he could come, it would be another 90 minutes. 90 minutes later at 2:45pm he texted me and said he wasn't interested in doing the job. To summarize: 1) I now had a pile of supplies he told me to buy and no idea what to do with them, some of which I'd already had too long to return. 2) I had wasted a day off work sitting on my hands waiting for him to show up. 3) I'd lost 2 weeks rescheduling and now was getting into cold weather to perform the work. It would take me 2 more weeks to locate another contractor and get the work completed. Because it was so late in the season I couldn't verify that my new a/c install worked correctly. I hope this contractor is still around in the spring and is willing to come back and verify the a/c is working properly. 2 notes about HomeAdvisor: 1) They will not post a review if work is never performed, even if you paid the contractor 2) They have 582 BBB complaints in the last 3 years.
