I have no experience with any work that they have done.? I called and left a detailed message about needing several trees cut down and one that had fallen over my driveway during a windy day.? NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK!? It has been 10 days.? To me this shows a lack of any kind of customer service or professionalism.?

Greg and Danny showed up when they said they would, finished the job in the estimated amount of time as we asked them to do it, offered clean-up options. These were large cottonwoods in a somewhat confined space next to driveway/barn/house and they cut to the ground and removed all that was too large to chip. They were careful and cleaned up the site and offered a couple of different clean-up options. They were reliable and easy to work with.
Description of Work: Removed two large cottonwoods.

Exceptional service, insured, which is important for a tree service. Trimmed two very large trees in a safe fashion, with an appreciation of maintaining the aesthetic appearance of the trees. Very professional, trustworthy, personable employees. Highly recommended.

Greg did show up with the boom truck the day before work was to begin. He stated he would be on site for 1 full week and trim the 4 cottonwood trees and the one pine tree and then spend the remainder of the week chipping the large pile of limbs and branches. Greg's day usually began with him arriving on-site at about 11:00 AM; working for a few hours and then leaving at about 3:00 PM. When the week had ended on Friday, Greg had worked a total of approximately 16 hours. We discussed the fact that he had not completed one of the trees and had not chipped any of the limb pile. Greg said he would return the next week and finish the tree and chip on the pile. The next Monday he worked his usual 3 hours and left the site. He then returned on Tuesday and chipped for a few hours on the pile and left. During his work, Greg and his helper did not wear any safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection or gloves. I am quite certain that they were not in compliance with any OSHA regulations. Greg's Tree Service was a disappointment and also the work without any safety equipment was disturbing. The trees Greg did complete actually looked pretty good; however, the work completed should have taken 1 or 2 days maximum if the work had been conducted in a quality workmanship manner.
Description of Work: Greg was hired to bring his boom truck and chipper and trim cottonwood trees and 1 pine tree. Then Greg was to clean up the trimmings and chip as time permitted on a large pile of brush and limbs. Greg stated that he would work on the project for a full week. I assumed 40 hours of work.

Response from Greg's Tree Service
Customer contracted us to trim 4 cottonwood trees(which ended up being 5 cottonwoods), 1 pine tree and chip a large pile of debris with some stipulations on the pile. We had advised the customer that it would take "approximately" a week to complete this project considering the weather was suppose to be rainy all week long. The cottonwood trees were well over 120 feet tall and had a large amount of dead in them, as this property was under construction and trees probably have never been touched in the past. At no time did the customer ask for an hourly rate. If customer would have preferred an hourly rate we would have been happy to provide that for him. Customer hired a Tree Company that was an hour away from the job site and an hour return to home. In our completed bid, we add up our drive time in our bids. Our company arrived on-site at 10am and off-site at 4pm most of the days for a total of 8 hours per day "including" drive time. Customer was not there on most days of arrival time nor was customer there at departure time. Our company had 1 afternoon of rain out at 2pm and 1 total rain out day which we also had advised customer at "time of contract" that rain would cause some delay . Which to make up for those delays, we pushed back other jobs at the beginning of that next week and spend 2 more days on customers job site for a total of 6 work days. I do not understand where customer seems to think that (5) 120' Cottonwood trees and (1) Large Pine tree, that have never been trimmed and had large amounts of dead in them should have only taken 1-2 days maximum. I assume he must know more about tree trimming than our company does. When Estimate was completed for this job site, Customer advised that he would have a large piece of equipment available to move the large trees off the top of the debris pile to be chipped so our company could get to the pile and chip more of the debris. No piece of equipment was ever provided as the customer had promised therefore none of the large trees were moved off the pile for easier access for my company. We had discussed this with the customer on Monday July 29th and my company told him we would gladly come back another day instead of Tuesday July 30th, if he had an estimated time that the equipment would be available. Customer told us just to finish up on Tuesday that the equipment would not be available. My company spent a whole day removing debris underneath a pile of huge trees. We removed as much as we possibly could get out without the equipment that was supposed to be provided. The chip pile was also in 8 inches of standing water that our company had to wade through the whole day. My company makes all PPE available for use on all job sites. The other problem we ran into with this customer was this: We NEVER take deposits on any of our contracts. Customer insisted several times that they wanted to pay us a deposit. So on Tuesday July 23 customer handed my company a deposit check for $1500.00. When our company went to deposit this check it had a stamped notice on the back "By signature hereon, the payee endorses this check and acknowledges receipt of the amount of this check IN FULL PAYMENT and satisfaction for all work performed and / or material furnished on the premises as described on the face hereof to date shown below, and waives all right to mechanic's and/or material man's lien therefor." With further investigation into this matter, if my company would have cashed this check we would have had no right to collect the remaining balance of $2500.00, for the job we were contracted to do, nor would we have had any legal recourse if the customer had chosen not to pay us. This check would have been binding in a court of law. This is a very unfortunate mistake that any small business could have made. Contractors beware, it could be you with that check in hand. Customer also stated that the work was completed on July 22, 2013. Which is incorrect. Job Contract was signed and accepted on July 20, work started July 22, 2013 and was Completed on July 30, 2013. I am sorry this customer was unhappy with the work performed. We went above and beyond with trimming the extra tree not included in the contract and chipping a pile of debris that was in standing water with huge trees on top of it. We always try to make every single customer happy with our work that we perform. If the customer was not happy he should have addressed concerns with us at the beginning of the week, rather than wait until the day before completion. The concerns were never directed to the owner face to face and in fact, knew nothing of this before the review.
