Distinct Painting Company

I had previously explored a few other Fort Collins local painters, but their value--that is the quality for the price paid--did not match Distinct Painting. Kane and his crew were fantastic to work with. Let's first look at the initial quoting process. Kane spent the time to go over the house condition with a fine toothed comb. He talked about what they do, the materials they choose, why they choose it, and why they believe it is the best choice. Of course, the other competitors, did the same. The difference is the other competitors had poor logic that did not make good engineering sense. Only Distinct Painting's approach was with sound and solid logic based on engineering principles. For example, to protect the identity of other competitors, one popular painter in town advertises two coats (as does Distinct Painting). But the competitor uses a cheap base coat (very cheap, as I later found out). Then they use a good quality coat on top. You don't have to be a chemical engineer to discover that cheap paint does NOT bond to the wood as good as quality paint. So why put on a cheap base coat that bonds weakly to the house, then put an expensive coat on top. As if that's not bad enough, this competitor's price was in the same ballpark as Distinct Painting. So you actually get less value. Finally, I talked directly with Sherwin Williams about the specific type of paint that this competitor was going to use, and SW said it's very good paint but not for our Colorado climate. Again, less value and poor logic, that does not stand the test of solid engineering principles. Another competitor (with animated sign dancers) gave a quote, but only with one coat of paint. Their price was actually notably higher than Distinct Painting. So in this case, you REALLY get less value. With Distinct Painting--after talking with Sherwin Williams directly and finding the best paint for Colorado--I wanted a slight change to the type of paint used. Kane was willing to do it. His crew spent nearly a day just prep'ing the house--sealing cracks, nail divots, etc. Then they applied two coats of the high quality SW paint that SW recommended, bankrolling after the first coat to ensure even coverage and filling of cracks. Then they applied the second coat when the first had sufficiently set (but not fully dried, for best adhesion). Bottom line is they were meticulous about the work. As for the final product, my house stands out above the rest. It looks like a freshly sided house without one flaw. I am confident the paint quality and the "installation" will last beyond their warranty--which also was better than the competition. There were some scheduling challenges along the way due to weather and other unforeseen challenges. But Kane's commitment to customer satisfaction was obvious. It's easy to brag about a company if there are no challenges. But only challenges show their true colors (pardon the pun). Kane was very respectful even when there was need to reschedule. All this to say I HIGHLY recommend Distinct Painting. Give Kane a call, and don't settle for a cheap painter. Don't risk paying for two mediocre paint jobs versus one quality job from Distinct Painting. And certainly don't buy the bull of anyone not using two legitimate coats of a top quality Sherwin Williams paint. As a footnote, I recommended Distinct Painting to another engineer colleague who had also done his own thorough competitor investigation. He chose to go with Kane's company as well, and was equally as happy with his paint job.

We hired Kane to do some touch-ups along the ceiling in a couple rooms that we had painted ourselves. He did a great job with and was very nice about everything. We had a little miscommunication about the color but he was prompt in helping me correct the issue. He was great at suggesting different options to help us save money on the job and encouraged us to let him know if we were unsatisfied in any way.

It was a pleasure working with Distinct Painting Co. from the estimate to completion. Kane Robinson (owner) is a true professional, both knowledgeable and friendly. The contract contained the date for painting to begin and they began earlier than expected. Preparation was quite involved as was the painting on my two story house. In spite of 25-40 mph wind gusts, they (Kane and Eric) continued to prep the house for painting. I am a bit of a perfectionist and appreciated the quality and attention to detail and the guarantee. The entire positive experience was worth every penny. My house looks incredible. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend Distinct Painting Co.

Everything was very professional and the work was done thoroughly and capably. Prep included pressure wash and meticulous sanding, caulking, sealing and priming (where necessary) - every nail hole, every seam, and windows and doors were caulked and sealed and look great. Paint was sprayed on and rolled in by hand with a roller over every square inch of the house. Trim was done carefully and looks great. They were very careful about the landscaping and other possible collateral damage. Everything was cleaned up when they left. We would highly recommend this company to anyone.

I am a project manager who hires contractors all around the country. When it was time to paint my house, I did what I always do and looked for 7 bids. I used Angie's list for references since I am new to the area and never had to hire a painting contractor. I chose Distinct Painting because during the bidding/interview process I was impressed with Kane's attention to detail, enthusiasm, and pride in his workmanship. After working with him on painting my house, I was not disappointed. We had never had to paint a house so we were not too sure how the colors would look or even what color to put in what location. Kane placed the colors on the house in locations we thought we wanted them and allowed us to look at them for a couple of days so that we could decide how we wanted the house painted. He worked with us on the color scheme and even added a nice accent strip of paint that really gave the house that special look. The quality of the work is incredible. My shed which was real worn, looks brand new! He took his time painting. He used 2 coats of paint and even took an extra day just to make sure all the touch up work was done to our satisfaction. I am very satisfied with the quality or Kane's work and the attention of detail he puts into his work. He is a great person to work with. I would recommend Kane for any painting job. I plan on using him for interior painting when we are ready.

I would have to say that it was nothing but a pleasure working with Kane. He is professional, personable & a Master of his craft. He cares about all details related to his job & his love for what he does shows in the BEAUTIFUL results he achieves. My daughters townhouse was truly transformed. It looks AMAZING! Her family room ceilings were not rebuilt like some of her other ceilings (they were built in 1980 & had the very unappealing POPCORN finish), but after Kane prepped & painted them they looked as if they were newly rebuilt instead of just painted. We left CO for a week & gave Kane our choice of paint colors with the instruction to use his artistic eyes to adjust any color depth he felt necessary. His results far EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. Last week we had a young lady go over to the property to give us an estimate to do new wood floors. When we went to discuss her bid for the job she commented on how BEAUTIFUL the paint was at the townhouse. She was the first person to visit since the painting was done....l expect my daughter will be getting many more compliments on the interior painting once she gets moved in & starts enjoying her new home. I feel so fortunate to have found Kane & Distinct Painting & would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who cares about finding the highest quality painting in CO.

Their prep work was very thorough. They replaced boards that needed it and examined all parts of the exterior before scraping and priming. We changed the old colors on the exterior and they were very patient and helpful in suggestions for trim and accent placements. The paint application method was spraying with back rolling which provided great coverage. Their taping and brush work was neat and done well. They had to work around several rainstorms and usually kept us informed of their schedule. We had two minor issues. One was they did not temporarily put all of the gutters back on one evening before they left and it rained heavily. They did give us some deduction off the final bill for that. The other was that on the last day the crew seemed in a hurry to leave and did leave some minor things undone. Kane, the owner, came early the next day and gladly took care of all those items. Their prices may be higher than some but we feel this company provides a high-quality conscientious service and a good warranty on their work. We would use them again.

Kane and his crew Eric and Brett were amazing. In a little over two hours they removed the popcorn ceiling and all of the old wallpaper. Before they started they moved all of the furniture out of the living room and dining area except for a large leather couch. They covered that completely with plastic. They sealed the ceiling and all the walls before they started painting. Everyone was courteous, professional, and prompt. They worked around our schedule, showed up when they said they would, and cleaned everything up before they left for the day. Kane didn't like how the kitchen ceiling looked after they painted the dining area ceiling so he painted the kitchen ceiling so everything would match. Kane told me to call if I noticed any areas that needed touching up. I called him about a couple of things and he came back within a day and touched the areas up. I was so pleased with the quality of work that was done that I asked Kane to give me a bid for painting my garage. They will be painting my garage in the late spring.

We had to reschedule a few times due to a hail storm that hit our house and we had to get a few other things taken care of first. Kane was great in working with us to reschedule. Communication has never been an issue. If we called or emailed him, he always got back to us quickly. His crew was great to work with. They are very nice guys, very respectful and polite. Communication was great with them too. My husband and I had no problem giving the crew an access code to the house and garage. While the crew worked on the house, we had other work done inside the house and both crews were great at communicating what should be done when so nobody was in each other's way. All the work Kane and his crew did was first class. The house was prepped very meticulously. I have zero complaints about the job they did. I don't expect to having to worry about the paint for the next ten years or longer. The price was very reasonable. We received three other estimates for the same work and everything came out higher (and one painter gave me a verbal estimate but never followed up with a written estimate). Everything was cleaned up by the time they were done. We wouldn't hire anyone else in the future. That includes interior paint jobs. We are going to recommend Distinct Painting to anyone who asks for a good painter.

We were extremely pleased with the outcome of the service provided. Distinct painting worked with us and our schedule to schedule the painting days (including waiting around for HOA approval). They were on site for several days doing prep work and several days doing painting. They cleaned the exterior of the house (powerwash), removed chipped paint, removed the downspouts and shutters. They were quite professional during the entire process. We had some concerns with the paint as our colors were based off Sherwin Williams. However, Kane provided samples on our house of both paints and showed that Diamond Vogel matched the colors more closely than Sherwin Williams. While on site, the team was very clean and courteous to my family during the entire process. The finished product looks awesome to us and we have had many comments from neighbors as they pass by. We have already recommended Distinct Painting to others and would hire them again in an instant. We would highly recommend Distinct painting to anyone painting inside or outside of their house. You won't be disappointed!

Our experience with Distinct Painting Co. was excellent. The owner (Kane), the foreman (Eric), and crew (Sean and others) are courteous and considerate, and their work speaks to their skills and passion for painting. I recommend searching no further for a team to address your next painting job - call Kane. The only category not rated excellent is price, and this requires explanation. Distinct Painting Co. will not be the cheapest option, so if you are looking for a "blow and go" service, don't waste your time or their's asking for a bid. However, now that they are finished, I believe Distinct Painting Co. provides an amazing value. The cost reflects their careful preparation, high-end paints and materials, and attention to detail and quality. The saying "you get what you pay for" comes to mind. My experience started with a visit by Kane to (1) discuss my wants, (2) see the house, and (3) develop a bid. Kane promptly provided the bid, and he made himself available late at night to address my questions and provide explanations to support his bid. At first I was surprised Kane offered no flexibility on the cost (although a discount for Angie's List members was provided!), but during our conversation, the surprise turned to respect as I recognized the basis for his numbers and his confidence in his estimating skills. We requested a quick completion of the job, and we also had other contractors working on the house during the same time the painting would be ongoing, so we presented a less than ideal set of working conditions. However, Kane would only commit to what he was confident he could deliver, and he promised regular and open communication to avoid major issues. The painting progressed rapidly, the communication was frequent (and always honest!), tasks were completed as discussed, work spaces were cleaned up, and we are pleased with the end result. The final price was exactly as bid, and they wrapped up before our deadline. They addressed all the items on the punch list, and even offered to recycle old paint. Additionally, they worked around us moving into the home, including our kids' nap schedules and the kids' curiosity when awake. We had no concerns about them entering the home without us here, completing their tasks, and locking up on their way out. These guys work well together, they help each other out - their cohesion clearly reflects their understanding of what needs to be done and how to do it efficiently. It was a refreshing experience to have a contractor honor their bid, complete work within the agreed upon schedule (ahead of schedule actually), provide the quality they described during the bid, and offer a warranty they intend to stand behind - in essence to do what they said they'd do. I will use these guys in the future for my painting needs, and have no reservations in recommending them.

I used the 'contact us' box on the providers website and have received no response. I also called and left a message for a quote but, again, no response. I may use Distinct Painters if they were to call in a timely manner. So disappointed!

The company power washed the house, caulked and painted. The caulk job is far above any that I have ever seen. Very pleased with the quality of the work.

Kane and his crew did an exceptional job prepping and painting our two story home. The most important part of a painting project is the prep work. After the extensive amount of prep work was completed, our house was covered with white streaks where damaged surfaces had been scraped and primed. The crew also replaced some siding and trim that were beyond repair. A number of folks around the neighborhood commented about the large amount of prep work that was completed. This generated some requests for quotes from other homeowners in the neighborhood. The crew worked on the weekend in order to get some paint on the house during a break in the rainy weather. Since most of the painting occurred on the weekend, we were able to watch the process and see our home transformed with the new colors. Painting the exterior of a house is a large investment. I believe the excellent results of this work will be evident for many years. The members of Kane's crew are a great group of courteous and dedicated professionals that seem to really enjoy their work.

From start to finish this project was completed without any unexpected problems. When Kane or Eric had a question about something they would ask us and not assume. After the project was completed we walked through the house with Eric and Kane to look for anything that may have been missed. Great team to work with! Thank you Sean

I did quite a bit of research and took 4 different bids before deciding to use Distinct Painting. Their price was not the lowest, but I was very comfortable in knowing that the job would be done right... I was not disappointed! Eric, Kane's lead man was punctual and worked very hard each day. They took their time in prep work which is the key to good paint job. Other companies said they would finish the painting in 3 or 4 days. Distinct was still prepping the house for painting on days 5 and 6. If you want something done fast and don't care about the quality then these guys likely won't fit the bill. However, if your main concern is quality work and a lasting paint job with a superior warranty, I suggest giving Kane a call! Eric even went above and beyond on this job considering the roofing material on my home. It is slick and near impossible to walk on. He took his time, consulted with me and then put in temporary footholds on the roof to complete the job correctly. Kane also came out and fixed a gutter problem I've had with the home for years. He took the entire gutter and fascia off, replaced rotted 2x4 and corrected the pitch on the gutter. It has worked flawlessly in the spring hail and rain! Overall I'm very pleased with the level of service and workmanship. I'll be using Distinct again for indoor painting soon. Highly recommend!

Distinct Painting Company was extraordinary.... The two gentleman that painted our home, were kind, considerate, neat and professional. They arrived as they said they would and if they were going to be late, they would always call. The total job took 7 days, about 3 days longer than estimated. However, my experience with home improvements is that projects always take longer than scheduled. So that was not a big deal at all. Eric and Sean worked in my home for 7 days and during that time, I never felt as if strangers were in my home. They always left with everything cleaned up and put away. They did an extraordinary job (2 coats on everything) and we simply love the work they completed. We have just moved into a new home and therefore the walls soaked up the paint! Despite using twice what Kane had estimated, he did not charge us for extra product. That rarely happens! The other extraordinary benefit of using Distinct is that they guarantee their work for 8 years, so you know they are going to do a professional and thorough job. I would use them again and have already referred them to several people. An absolute "A"! They are Excellent!

I was nearing closing day of a new town house. I contacted Distinct Painting to arrange for painting of the first floor, as boring beige that the builder used is just not my thing. My experience with this company was stellar. I received the quote via email after chatting with the owner, Kane. I met with the owner, Kane at a local coffee shop where we chatted about the project - i.e. paint colors, expectations... He gave me his background and I was very secure is hiring his company. Kane scheduled his crew to begin on right after I closed on my home. I met with Kane and a foreman the afternoon of closing day to test out paint colors. Once that was complete, I left everything up to Kane. They began the project that Friday evening and finished up on Sunday. The rooms painted were Master bedroom and bath, second bed room. second bath, living room, dining area, kitchen, laundry, 2 closet interiors and the stairwell to the basement. The project was finished on time. My home looks fantastic! The crew cleaned up - there was no mess for me to come back to. I highly recommend using Distinct Painting Company - and will spread the word to my friends and family.

It was awesome. It was quite a good experience for us. Kane really explained things well to us when he came by to give us an estimate. He was suggestful on different color ideas and was very helpful on telling us about which colors go well together, and making suggestions. After it was all said and done I'm happy with the colors, we went with turquoise, caramel and apple green-they all go well together. The crew were great guys, they were polite, helpful, and cleaned up after themselves. They were even willing to work on the weekend so we could get it done before Christmas, and didn't charge extra for the weekends. They weren't the lowest bid but we got great value for the price, and we get great compliments. I would highly recommend them.

Kane and his crew did a remarkable job under somewhat trying conditions. Our house was occupied while the job was going on which necessitated them moving a lot of furniture and belongings on a daily basis. Their crew was large enough that they were able to accomplish everything on schedule in spite of one of the workers being out sick for much of the job. In fact they willingly worked parts of two weekends to get the job done on time. We especially appreciated them tolerating the presence of our three cats so we didn't have to lock them up for most of the job. I think our 18 year old blind cat actually bonded with Josh. Thanks, Kane, Eric, Josh and Sean. You guys are true pros. We'll use you on future projects. Harry

Kane and his crew were very responsive to my requests and were easy to work with. Since I have a home business, they did their best to insure that I could continue working throughout the project. When color was not exactly as I wanted they made sure it became the way I wanted it. They were great about moving furniture, caring for my "stuff," and very helpful in getting things back in order.

Kane is a dedicated professional and extremely knowledgeable about his trade. He is on the job making sure it is done right and that was a big reason why we chose his company. I gave him a B rating on price because he was just a litlle higher on bid but not by much. However it was worth the extra because you get what you pay for.I highly recommend using Distinctive painting and will be using them again in the future when needed. Update on price grade. After reading my review on his bid being a little higher I am changing that grade from B to A because I believe I received service that was worth the extra price.

Kane, the owner, is extremely professional and very detail oriented. We have an older home and they made the outside look like brand new. They really took the time to prep the house appropriately and the outcome was fantastic. I would highly recommend them.
