Description of Work: Mercury Solar provided excellent solar panels for the roof of our brownstone. Most importantly, the helped us arrange an interest-free loan for 12 months, during which they helped us with the state, federal, and local tax breaks....recouping a large percentage of our investment, before the loan was due. They were very easy to work with, and we have now seen a return from property taxes. Coupled with the energy savings, we are already well into the "black".

+ -1 moreIt went very well and were happy with it. The solar panel works really well. Based on what I heard from the electrical inspector and other people that came, they said that they did a terrific job on the installation. It's a little bit complicated because the price of the job was all set by tax breaks, deductions and rebates, so it's hard to say, but we thought the price was reasonable. I would definitely recommend them.

Description of Work: Mercury Solar was chosen after Island Recreational did not deliver on their advertised Solar Special. Mercury walked me through the process, the rebates and credits from LIPA, Federal and State. They arrived on time, were extremely clean (including wearing covers on their shoes when they were in my home) and precise. They completed the project in two days, explained the system and its workings. When I had an issue with my computer regarding the reporting, they came right out to assist. I never write to companies to compliment work, but I was so impressed, I wrote a letter to the President of Mercury Solar and told him they can use me for a reference at any time. Great company!!!

+ -1 moreScott from Mercury came out and spoke with my wife and I for about an hour explaining the entire process including the different own/lease options and the underlying economics of each. I did not feel like it was a pressured sales pitch at all. The cost of the system was approximately $17,900 after an approimate state rebate of $4650. We later signed an agreement and gave a $1,000 deposit with the balance due after installation. The state rebate follows about 3 months after installation. In the end, we went with the leasing program through their partner SunRun. Under that program our cost was reduced by the amount of the federal tax credit and SunRun was responsible for any problems with the panels and/or inverters. We would have had to wait until tax time 2012 to get the federal credit otherwise. Mercury does all the installation work and will be the company that does any continuing maintenance or repairs. The work was completed in a timely manner once all the paperwork worked it's way through the state (takes a couple of months due to the state's backlog). They left the areas affected (basement, house exterior) clean and without a lot of "leftover parts". Communication with Mercury was good throughout the process.
Description of Work: Mercury Solar worked with us through the process of designing the system, installing the system and working with the utility companies for the necessary approvals and work orders. They worked with us to obtain the available federal and state rebates. They also helped us set up an account for trading the SREC credits we obtained by generating solar power. The SREC credits are where you see your biggest return on the investment.

+ -1 moreI had an excellent experience with Mercury Solar Systems. The company really responded to my concerns about the contract and went the extra mile to work with me even though my job was a relatively small residential contract. The team that did my installation was very conscientious and the administrative team was excellent about communicating with me and addressing my concerns along the way. The price was the lowest that I saw in my area (I got quotes from 3 other companies and investigated a few others. I would quickly recommend Mercury to any of my friends who want to have solar panels installed.
Description of Work: Mercury installed a 5.06 kW solar PV system on our roof. This included mounting the racking system to a flat rubber roof with the roof penetrations, installing the solar panels, installing the inverter and necessary extra meters and cut-off switches and doing all of the connections. Mercury did all of the design and planning, applications for the permits, applications for the interconnection with our electrical supplier, and application for the state rebate program. They also assisted me to get connected with an SREC trading company to sell the solar renewable energy credits.
