Very Disappointing - Avoid at all costs I talked with the owner – Randy - about needing the refrigeration unit repaired in my wine room. He sent a "tech" to my home to diagnose the problem and suggest a solution. The tech told me he'd research the necessary equipment and get back to me in a week or so. He charged me $85 for 15 minutes of his time, used my ladder, and left without replacing the cover to the equipment. That was 6 weeks ago. I've placed 4 calls to the owner - Randy - to find out about the solution I paid to "research". No return calls from anyone: not Randy, not the "tech", not the service department - No One. An $85 charge for nothing. Maybe that's the business model.

Pete came out and evaluated the unit and found burnt connections and a bad control. He ordered parts and had to wait for approval from the management of my house. When he received the parts and approval, he repaired and was very prompt. He left my kitchen clean and I can bake again! I will refer again and do all the time on my neighborhood app when people ask for appliance repair.

Bottom line is that I had replaced both elements in the stove and the top one was still not working so I called Hi Tech Appliance and told them my dilemma and they told me that they could have a tech out to my house in 30 minutes. He was there in 20 and had the problem identified and fixed in under an hour. Just outstanding customer service and very friendly tech, I had a lot of questions and he was able to answer them all with no hesitation.
Description of Work: Top element not working even after replacement and they were able to get it working.

The Details: Upon arrival, it was obvious that the tech was unfamiliar with the fireplace. He asked for the manual, which I provided. He then called a tech support number and was on the phone with someone for quite some time. When I returned, he showed me he had succeeded in getting the fireplace to run with the doors closed. However, he pointed out to me that as a result, the Teflon rollers on the door had melted. I was pretty upset by that, especially since now the doors no longer closed properly. He didn't seem particularly concerned. I asked him what else he had done, he replied, "I adjusted the logs and put in some embers." At that point, the fire went out. He said he'd do more troubleshooting, and I left again. Upon my return 30 minutes later, he told me that there were defective parts, and to repair it, the parts and labor would come to $678. I said, "the unit is still under warranty, it's only 5 months old", and he replied that Hi-Tech would NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY as I did not purchase the unit from them. I then paid him $50, for the service call. After he left, I called the dealer, Woodland Direct, to discuss these "defective parts" and if this was covered under my Warranty. While I was still on the phone with Woodland Direct, the OWNER, of Hi-Tech Appliance, Randy, called, and told me the tech was incorrect. The unvented fireplace was NEVER supposed to run with the doors shut, it had an automatic shut off that kicked in which shut down the fire in the event it runs with the doors shut. He guided me to the place in the manual where that info was. It was confusing because the manual for the doors indicated the unit could be run with the doors shut. So...why didn't the tech know this? I asked Randy about replacing the doors the tech damaged, and he said that he would SELL me doors for $296. He was extremely argumentative. A few days later, I received by mail a bid for the doors from Randy, for $352.80. I asked him about the discoloration, and the broken log, he insisted the discoloration was normal, and the log was already broken. He offered to sell me new logs. Hi-Tech Appliance refused to honor the manufacturer's warranty and refused to take responsibility for the damage that they caused, or admit they made a mistake. The owner repeatedly lectured me on how "people like you buy things online, and then expect US to service them, when we didn't sell or install them" and, in addition, lectured me on "not reading my owner's manual." I have to say, I would never do business with this company again, Now, here's the happy ending: Woodland Direct, in conjunction with their supplier for Vermont Castings VOLUNTEERED, that's right, volunteered, to not only send me new doors, and new logs, but actually refunded the $50 that Hi-Tech charged me. Now, that's what I call real customer service. And Randy doesn't like people buying units online, and not from him....really...I wonder why folks do that! The other thing...I was able to clean off the discoloration with about 3 hours labor with salt and vinegar (a solution I found online) So, bottom line, I think Hi-Tech Appliance deserves an "F" and as an aside, Woodland Direct, the ONLINE company, deserves an A+. The not only fixed what H-Tech broke, they went above and beyond by making me whole, after Hi-Tech charged me for basically damaging my new fireplace.
Description of Work: Hi-Tech is listed on the manufacturers website as the official repair techs for their products, I called Hi-Tech, to find out if my fireplace (installed only 5 months earlier) needed a different orifice for the altitude, since it kept going out with the doors closed. The fireplace had been installed by my Contractor, as part of a large outdoor deck remodel. The Contractor was no longer available, due to personal & medical issues, so contacting him was not an option. The tech from Hi-Tech came out to inspect the unit. He charged me $50 for the inspection. During the course of the inspection, he ruined the Teflon runners on the doors, blackened the stainless surface and broke a log. When I requested the owner of the company, (Randy)to fix the damage his tech had done, he became very argumentative, and stated that the log was already broken (eg, the tech didn't do it), and the issues with the doors and the discoloration were a "normal" result of operating the unit.

On the day of the appointment the technician actually called to see if he could arrive early, which was fine for me. He diagnosed the problem within 10 minutes and then gave me a quote for the repair. The part required for the repair needed to be ordered and he placed the order while at my house. He came back a few days later and installed it in less than 30 minutes. He was very professional, punctual and friendly.

Eric was the tech, and he is great. Diagnosed and repaired - price will always be higher than one hopes, but not too bad. He also diagnosed and then provided a bid for a larger repair for an oven, which we've not yet done because it will also involve some major re-build of a cabinet. But his diagnosis was thorough, and made sense (and we'll definitely go with Hi Tech if we get it done).

Great! Tye cleaned the power button housing and reset the cleaning cycles. He advised that we may need a new controller, but didn't think it was necessary today. He gave us our Angie's List discount and said to call if we had any more issues. No muss, no fuss. Tye called to ask if he could come early - I really appreciate the courtesy. We'll definitely call Hi Tech Appliance for future service.
Description of Work: Tye repaired our Bosch dishwasher. The power button was stuck and the cleaning cycles had seemed to be pretty lengthy.

Very professional. Service call was scheduled quickly and courteously in spite of what I assume was a frantic time with people requiring assistance after the floods. The technician, Dan, called before he came, arrived as expected, and was very considerate. Very communicative and protected our wood floors nicely as he was doing the diagnosis. Outlined the problems and provided a reasonable quote for repairs and the time required. Patiently compared the options we needed to consider. Provided insight on the repair verses replace decision. At this time we've decided not to repair, but we've used them before for both repairs and parts and we've found them to be very good. I recommend them.

I called Hi Tech Appliance and they promptly scheduled me. They had an opening that day but it was more convenient for me to have them come the following day. Dan arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. He also gave me a lesson on how my fridge works which was incredibly helpful because I was having problems with produce freezing in the veggie drawers. I had no idea the unit was designed to have air flow from the top down to the bottom (it's a side by side type) and hence, placement of items, open containers, open bags, etc all impact the function. He also reset the temperature settings as I had fiddled with them to keep things from freezing. He had to order a part and so we scheduled for the next morning to have him come again. He said he'd come between 9-11am and he called at 9am to let me know it would be 9:40. It's always helpful to have more than the big window of 2 hours so I can take a shower or make phone calls or whatever without wondering if the doorbell is going to ring at any moment. Another thing Dan did was take a quick look at a button on my dryer that was broken. I just needed to know if it was a major issue or whether I could ignore it. His willingness to be so friendly and helpful beyond just replacing the noisy fan means I will gladly use Hi Tech Appliance again.

I was very impressed with the expertise of the serviceman. We are extremely happy with the results.
Description of Work: Our dishwasher needed to be re-secured under the counter. The clamps needed to be replaced. The serviceman discovered the floor was not even underneath the dishwasher which cause it to rock itself loose over time. Working with extra pieces of the flooring he was able to even out the floor so that the stabilizer feet now rest on an flat surface.

I needed better venting in my kitchen, they advised on type and manner of exhaust and sold me an appropriate range rood - not the most expensive one, but one well suited to my needs and they followed up after the installation to make sure I was happy with it.

The salesman was informative and the Speed Queen seems to be built very well. The delivery/setup crew was friendly and informative. After they left I noticed that the lower front panel of the machine had two chips in the white porcelain. They could have been there when it left the factory but, given their location, I think they are from the hand truck they used to roll it into the house. I guess I could touch them up with paint or something. I did not call them to complain about this cosmetic damage. I would hope that when HI-TEC reads this, they will be more mindful on their future deliveries.

The repairman first came to give me an estimate. He said that it was a time consuming job. He came back a couple of weeks later with the part. I noticed that it was broken (he didn't). He asked if I wanted it put in anyway. Obviously not. He reordered it. He came back again and installed the part. It took 10 minutes. I feel I was way over charged.

I bought a washer and dryer from Home Depot. The washer had a leak in it. They told me to call Hi-Tech. The rep was rude. Gave me runaround. Set an appointment, I waited 2 hours, he never showed up. We rescheduled. He was rude. Home Depot told him they would pay. They offered him an American Express, the rep said they couldn't accept it, and told me I had to pay. I told him I wasn't going to. They did get paid from Home Depot. I called Home Depot and said, "don't ever send them again".
