Welzig Heating and Air

Welzig installed a gas pipe run from a furnace/hot water heater in my basement directly up to a kitchen stove for a future gas stove. This work was accomplished after I purchased a high end water heater and gas furnace for thousands of dollars (+$7,800). I was informally quoted that the gas line would cost about $75 as it was a simple project. They were to do both the furnace, hot water heater and gas line run all at the same time but ran out of time and therefore scheduled to come back to finish the gas line run. I paid for the furnace/hot water heater before and separately from the gas pipe run. The invoice they sent me for the gas line run quoted 3 hours of work and almost 4 times the amount of the quote. I called to inquire and complain regarding the discrepancy and why it took 3 hours to run a gas line 2 feet straight up through the floor and never received a satisfactory explanation. Another annoyance was that soon after the work for the gas line was completed they charged my same credit card used to pay for the furnace/hot water heater for the $265 gas line without additional authorization from me.

We are happy with their work. They took time to do the work patiently. They explained what they were doing. There were two different people for air duct and furnace. Both of them spent fair amount of time explaining because we took the house and didn’t know how things worked, specially the furnace. I would use them in the future.

They were very good. They came right out within a couple of hours, they scheduled me right away. They were very clean, neat, and efficient. The tech checked thoroughly and did a great job. He was very courteous. They ran me through the operation of the programmable thermostat, which I didn't know how to use, so they helped me with that.

The job went extremely well. They not only showed up on time and were very respectful around my new home but there were some complications working around some of the other contractors and they had to stay until about 7PM to get the job done so we could comfortably sleep in the house that night. Both the installation techs, the follow-up walk through and the man who came later to do the duct cleaning were all great guys and super diligent about getting the job done as well as possible. I'm considering adding a reasonably priced service plan since I can't imagine ever calling anyone else to work on my heating and cooling systems.

A coupon cane in the mail. I called to make an appointment and discussed the coupon in detail with the office staff. They indicated that it would apply to the visit, even quoting me the price after the coupon was applied. The guys came and did the inspection, very thorough and professional. I gave them the coupon and the tech told me with no hesitation that the coupon did not apply to the service. He did not even consider that maybe they should honor the coupon. They gave me a quote for a new furnace and took off.

Very professional. Our A/C was no longer cooling our house. It was determined that there was a freon leak in our old system that would have been expensive to try to repair with no guarantees. Several options were explained in detail and we chose to replace our old A/C with a Lennox unit. We had to wait a couple of days for installation, but installation was handled very professionally.

They were very punctual, thorough, friendly and professional. The quality of the workmanship was good.

The entire personnel at Welzig Mechanical were absolutely outstanding (from the secretaries to the crew). I can't even begin to tell you how happy we were with the quality of work that was done on site. It took two days to complete the entire job and they were very polite and considerate of our needs. The new unit had a glitch in it and we had some problems; however, when I called they sent someone out immediately. The glitch took a week or two to figure out and then they decided to put in a new mother board and that did the trick. The service is fantastic and I highly recommend Welzig Mechanical.

On the day of the appointment, the technician called me at 7:30 to confirm the appointment. He arrived on time at 8am to start work. After surveying the house, he said that it would take him until noon to clean all the ducts. He went about his work quickly, using a vacuum that has a spin brush on the end. I could hear him pushing the vacuum hose all over the house. He completed his work at 12:30 as promised. Now I was under the impression that he would show me before and after pictures of the ducts using a camera, but he did not offer this at the end of his visit. He did show me his hands, which were very dirty, and said our ducts definitely needed cleaning.

I called Monday morning and the technician was out to the house within an hour as there had been a cancellation. He figured out the problem and actually improved the original installation by wiring the transformer so the humidifier will come on when the blower is running, not just the heater. I can now humidify the house without running the furnace. Overall, excellent service.

I started up my old furnace on a Monday and it worked fine until I got up the next morning and it died. I called service and they told me the cost to fix it would run between $300.00 and $600.00. The furnace was 17 years old and had served me well so I decided to spring for a new one. I purchased the cheaper (80% efficient one) because I wasn't sure about the rebates and tax writeoff discounts. I'm 68 years old so if it lasts 15 more years I'll be pleased. I was a little confused on how to work the programmable thermastat but that was my problem. The followup call from the owner (which was greatly appreciated) helped me with a few questions I had.

We had Welzig scheduled for yearly maintenance on furnace. Tech arrived on-time and was polite and professional. Furnace was found to have major problems and deemed unsafe to operate. Thankful that this was discovered before we ran it for the winter. Our tech showed us everything wrong with the furnace. Used cameras to look at internal problems. No BS involved with us. Was straight and honest with problems. Gave us reasonable price to replace furnace with lots of options here. Choose a furnace and the tech was out the next day to remove the old furnace. The next day he arrived on time as scheduled and began work. Placed work sheets down on the hardwood and carpet for no mess. Used booties on feet. Great to have that by the techs! Water heater had been at issue and we called Welzig and asked if they could get that replaced while they were at our home doing the furnace and they were able to make that happen on the day the furnace was being installed. We got a great price on a new 50 gallon replacement water heater. This price was $1000.00 LESS than another Angie List Plumber who we had do an estimate on installing the same type of water heater and service. All in all we had a beautiful Lennox furnace and AO Smith water heater installed during the day. The tech was great and showed me everything he was doing and how everything worked. He replaced our humidifier and filter and cleaned up very nicely after his work. I cannot say enough about how pleasant the staff was on the phone and how happy we were with their work. They all did an A plus job for us. Would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone in the Longmont or surrounding area. Great Job Welzig.

My A/C worked fine last fall, and I had Welzig perform annual maintenance and then had them perform one of their recommended (not required) maintneance items. When I went to turn on my A/C for the first time this season, it did not operate at all. (I would have thought they would have checked to see if the unit was funtioning before leaving). When I called to have them come back out to check on the unit, the service technician said he checked with the owner and he said they would have to charge me for the service call. I was appalled that after they left and the unit is not functioning, the would still want to charge me to come back to check on the unit. I refused, as I do not feel I can trust this company and would never recommend them or use them again.

The service was good and they did a good job. They have done some good things with follow up, such as registering the furnace so we could take our tax credit for 2009, which was nice. We really didn't have the opportunity to shop around. We have a service agreement with them.

Very curteous crew of 3 workers. Clean and respectul. Stayed until the job was completed. Went over instructions for operating the new system.

Overall it went well. I scheduled the service for a Thursday afternoon. When they were 20 min late, I called to make sure I had the right day and time. For some reason my appointment did not make it onto the master schedule. They were very apologetic and offer to have some one out in an hour. I had some where to go, so they scheduled it for the next day. Casey arrived a little early (which was fine). (I gave them a C because of the reschedule) He had booties on his shoes, and was very polite and professional. He told me it was fine if I wanted to watch, and I did. He explained what he was doing and why and gave me tips to keep it running well. He cleaned up nicely and was done in an hour. I used their Angie's List coupon and got a great deal. Casey

Josh spent the first 1/2 hour explaining to me how the system worked. He did an excellent job. Afterward, he completed testing the system.

Very well. They responded to an initial inquiry promptly, arrived on time for the initial service call (even called to say they'd be there the last part of the 2-hour window), quoted a fair price, & then did the installation professionally the next day. We were very pleased with the service & professionalism.

They did good work. There was a small miss communication that happened between the office and the technician with another job that was discussed over the phone in front of me. I think that could have been avoided and I felt that it was a little unprofessional. The professionalism of the workers was top notch but the problem was the management but I think it was only due to the pressure of the economy. The boss was really under pressure when he made that phone call but at the end of the day he did not let it affect the quality of their work. Their service was good and it was a work done well. The workers were all hard working men and they did a good job. I have no complaints with the quality of the work done or with the top notch equipments that they installed. Their prices were good and I don?t think I could have got it any cheaper. One thing that they did not do well as per the package was to clean up the ducts. I checked the ducts after the work was done and I thought that they did not do a top notch job in cleaning it as I thought they should have done.

Welzig installed a/c for us several years ago. They did, and have always done, excellent work for us. We initially called them to replace our boiler (we have hot water rather than forced air heat) after another longtime local company said the boiler was shot. The other company "skipped town." Welzig came out and said that the boiler needed only repair and maintenance. We have used Welzig ever since then. The are courteous and professional. They always come within the set time window. Due to the fact that we have hot water heat (and no air vents) installing our air conditioning system was more complicated than most---it was hot work in very tight quarters. The installers were great and they cleaned up after themselves.

Joe, the service tech was prompt and even called to arrive on the early side. He was very professional and did a thorough job on a very old furnace. He checked for cracks and ensured integrity of the system. Ask for $89 inspection and tune-up special. Gave a discount on thermostat install from $80 down to $25. Money well spent! I plan to use them for future jobs. Although normally a 2 week lead time, they were able to get to me in only a few days.
