Uncle Brian's Home Improvements

Kitchen and Bath Remodeling, Finished Carpentry and Woodworking, General Remodeling,

About us

Uncle Brian has 39 years of experience in the Home Improvement Industry and has completed thousands of jobs -leaving many customers not only satisfied, but feeling they received more than they were promised. Treating Clients as I would want to be treated is my philosophy in business and life in general. I have undertaken projects in various aspects of the Home Improvement business and specialize in Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling, as well as the Installation of Interior and Exterior Doors. My strengths include (1) Finding Real Value and completing jobs with quality materials at a price I would be willing to pay! (2) Our slogan is "Getting it Done Right -the First Time" and this is the principle I use to bring Real Value to Each new Client. (3) I rarely ask for money upfront -unless I'm ordering Special Order Materials. (3) Simply stated, I enjoy making peoples' dreams a reality and making the process more of a pleasure than a hassle. (4) I come prepared to get your project complete with the experience and equipment necessary to get your project done right - the first time! I'm equipped to handle small to midsize projects that require Quality Results. Our specialties are Kitchen & Bathroom Remodels and Window & Door Installations. Each year we receive hundreds of requests for quotes that don't fall within our specialties. We provide free estimates for well over 100 projects per year, but we do not give free estimates to everyone that calls - for the following 4 reasons: 1. When our calendar is closed, we do not estimate new jobs. 2. We only supply free estimates to folks in our service area. 3. We decide which jobs to quote based on our prior commitments, manpower, and experience, among other things. 4. Our minimum labor for free estimates is $5,000. We Don't Work On RENTAL Properties, but if you're a landlord, we'd be happy to work on your primary residence. Due to federal regulations (EPA), we don't work on houses older than 1970. Thanks, Uncle Brian

Thank you for your Review! We never worked for this nice Lady but I recommended my nephew to help her with some remodeling projects. Josiah worked with us for almost 10 years - so he knows a little about the remodeling process. I'm happy to see he treated her well! We try to point folks in the right direction even when we can't help them personally. We do this because treating people well is important to us. Uncle Brian

Thank you for your Review! We did 2 Bathrooms for this very nice lady in [Redacted] - both were older bathrooms which are always lots of work. We installed a heated tile floor in the master bathroom and an Onyx Shower. I frequently recommend Onyx Wall Panels to potential clients to bring them up to date on products they may not be familiar with. I like a tiled shower but it's time consuming (to do it correctly) and I've seen many fail after just a few years. So offering less expensive options seems like a no brainer. Many times folks opt to go with the traditional tile approach - which is my favorite - and I am always happy to oblige - once they've heard my "there's other options" shpeel. There's many ways to get a Custom Bathroom - some are detailed and Gorgeous - some are easier to execute - which makes them cheaper to build, I recommend asking the contractor you're interviewing if your wish list is practical and if his skill set is a good match for your project. I've asked many fellow contractors about their specialty over the years - when someone says they do it all - I know that they don't do it all - well. Let's face it - if a mason does brickwork 6 days a week and a handyman has laid brick once or twice in his career - he's not likely to do the same quality work. I use specialists for some of the more difficult aspects of our remodels so my inexperience doesn't get in the way of a quality outcome. This is the way I get to a successful conclusion job after job - year after year. Knowing my strengths and weaknesses is critical in getting each customer to the end of their remodel - with a smile. Thank you for your Kind Review! We did 3 large projects for this Angieslist client and are now working right next door for their neighbor. Kitchens and Bathroom are our passion and making customers feel like they got more than their moneys worth is our Goal. When we're invited back for another major renovation - it's a compliment to say the least. We don't lay back and take it easy when this scenario occurs - because our customer is expecting quality work and a fair price - so I get things in high gear and off we go. It's really quite simple - I put myself in the [Member Information Removed] of my customer and imagine I'm the one footing the bill and like all of us - I want a fair deal and an honest days work, I'm not there to see how fast I can get done - but how I can get this project done to a higher standard at a price folks can afford. My customers are usually tearing out perfectly good" builders" bathrooms - most are just ok - but certainly nothing special. Our customers don't want another average Remodel - they want a [Member Information Removed] to go to Relax / to Unwind / to Rejuvenate -and that's our Goal. To build a [Member Information Removed] to go to feel Better about Life and about Living. We can work our UB Magic for you too! Uncle Brian

Uncle Brian and his crew, (yes including nephews!), were a delight to work with. His focus truly is on customer service and he goes the extra mile to complete the job to your satisfaction. Brian did a total kitchen renovation for us (other than paint), including new custom cabinetry, flooring, countertops, lighting and appliances. From the beginning, he guided us through the process and spent an afternoon with us to make our specific choices as to design and elements. This being our first experience with a contractor, we were so happy to have found him. Brian’s input was always creative and as a result, we ended up expanding the flooring concept into our family room, and he used the extra granite from our countertops to completely redo our fireplace. It really has the appearance now of a continuous great room between the two areas. An added bonus is that Brian’s wife, Jennifer, works side-by-side with him to schedule and bill the job out. She was so organized, helpful and gracious, that we really felt well taken care of from start to finish. My husband and I couldn’t be more pleased with our beautiful new kitchen and family room.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen renovation: new cabinetry (custom design); lighting (with dimmers); plank and slate flooring design; granite countertops and fireplace finishthat included glass tiling; install appliances; plumbing for new refrigerator; custom molding over cabinets and valance over patio doors; new floorboards.

Thank you for your kind review! We thoroughly enjoyed working with your Family! Colorado is full of really nice folks and we enjoy working for them all - but, your Family is one of the nicest - ever. We look forward to working with you on your next project! A quick word from our sponsor - the Member allowed me to have great latitude in designing their Kitchen and Family Room Renovation. They even let me persuade them to choose a different style Cabinet (also known as cupboards west of the Mississippi) (did I spell that correctly?). After 30 years of building and designing - stuff, I can usually tell when we are on to something - or should head back to the drawing board. When my clients allow me to have input in their choices they invariably like the outcome. I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, rather, I've worked for hundreds of talented folks and have learned many tricks of the trade from these smart people. I simply borrow the ideas that have worked so well in the past and suggest them to my next client. Fair enough? So next time you're planning a Home Improvement, allow us to share some of our 2 cents with you and together - We''ll Get it Done Right the 1st Time! Finally, we are currently booking January and February of 2013. It seems a long way off, but it will be here before you know it! Happy Summer! Uncle Brian and Family

This was the first truly "big deal" that I purchased on Angie's list and it was well worth it. I am definitely not a handy person and Uncle Brian's made it a cinch. This is truly a family driven business that cares about the details. Lots of ideas during the planning phase and a can do attitude in response to all my ideas. He even got the granite guys to bring samples over to my house when I was too busy to run errands. Problems that popped up during the demo (aka my crumbling pipes) were resolved quickly and often remedied before I even had a chance to worry about them. We were out of town on vacation while most of the work was done and loved getting the daily updates with pictures and judgment calls that needed to be made. There were also no surprises about the cost. Regularly checked in on where things stood and what was included. The crew was really conscientious about finding savings along the way to help offset new things that came up. Adios to my 1960's kitchen!
Description of Work: Gutted my outdated kitchen and flooring. Put in beautiful wood cabinets, new subfloor and vinyl flooring, installed appliances, and added an island with electrical and duct work. Repaired the rusted out pipes and made the electrical connections safer along the way.

Thanks for your kind review! We hope you'll enjoy your NEW Kitchen for many years. Uncle Brian loves to make peoples Home Improvement Dreams a Reality and honestly couldn't do it without the help of my dedicated and hardworking wife and nephew. We are currently booking Late November and December for any new Projects and encourage potential clients to get on our schedule pronto before those months are gone. We make every effort to earn the trust of our New Clients - by stretching their Home Improvement $$ and delivering the Quality Workmanship that everyone wants. Lots of Contractors have given the Home Improvement Trade a bad name - we're working to restore " the folks" confidence in our Industry by providing some Good Old fashion Value and Integrity. Thanks to angieslist we've been able to meet some very nice people - who make it a pleasure to work - even in the extreme heat we've been experiencing! I apologize for the long lead time we are currently experiencing - hopefully, we will be more responsive in the 2013 Remodeling Season. Enjoy the Summer Uncle Brian and Family

We recently had Uncle Brian’s Home Improvement take down the ceiling in our finished basement. I can’t say enough good things about Brian Enyart, Sr. and his crew. They were on time, professional, courteous and very conscientious of the work they were doing. They cleaned up and hauled away all the material from the take-down. They also accomplished the job within the time frame Brian quoted, considering they had more than one room to do. They were professional, right down to the office personnel (Jennifer Enyart). Jennifer handled the initial call, scheduled the job, and following up thereafter. We are extremely happy with the quality of work and the professional and courteous manner of all involved. We will definitely call Uncle Brian again because of the excellent service we received on this job.
Description of Work: Finished basement 70s style popcorn ceiling removal. The entire ceiling was removed.

Thanks for taking the time to review Uncle Brian's home improvements! Pleasure working with You! A quick lesson in Home Improvement ettiquete for all the first timers. April thru October is traditionally the busy season for the Home Improvement Industry. If you're planning a project and would like it to be scheduled in that time period - plan ahead accordingly. What that means is - speak to your list of contractors 3-4 months before you plan on beginning work. Choose your Home Improvement Specialist - only after you've had a chance to visit at least 1 jobsite and personally review the quality of workmanship. Plan to make several calls to recent clients and see if your prospective choice is a good one. Many people think that getting multiple bids is "doing their homework". Frankly, that does not begin to inform you about the experience you are about to embark upon. If you are choosing a contractor who consistently scores A's from the general public - your homework would be, simply to ask yourself "can I work well with this person?" Also, Ask some important questions, such as - Do you play loud music? Do you clean up periodically? Can I count on you to complete my project in a timely manner? How long will I be without water or electricity? Angieslist rates contractors on a scale we are all familiar with A - F. This is a huge benefit to Homeowners but does not take the place of doing a little bit of your own leg work. I've heard hundreds of horror stories- mostly from folks who did absolutely no homework and picked a contractor solely by the price. This practice is widespread and frequently ends in dissatisfaction. So, Plan well ahead / Interview Contractors -Thoughtfully / Ask for References / Choose Wisely / Do your Part to Get the Project off to a good Start ( Remove your " Stuff " from the Work Area) / Enjoy your Newly Remodeled Home! Have a Great Summer Uncle Brian and Family

We contacted Brian about finishing a pantry, but changed our mind and had him install an exterior door. He has had a lot of experiencing installing doors. We bought the door at Home Depot and he did a great job on the installation.
Description of Work: Brian installed an exterior door from our master bedroom to an existing upper deck. He wasn't sure he could do it in 4 hours including all the trim work , but he did.

Thanks for you review! Uncle Brian has been operating a Home Improvement Company for almost 30 years now - I guess that means he's getting quite old. Lots of gray hair these days and 5 granddaughters, and he still loves his Home Improvement-ing Work! Uncle Brian has also managed a Door Installation Business for the last 20 years which usually operates between March and November. So, an Exterior Door Installation is right up our alley - though, they normally take a little longer than 4 hours. We pushed hard to complete this Project within our 4 hour window and happy to report - this time we succeeded! Uncle Brian is well aware that pleasing everyone is an impossibilty - but he won't stop trying - until he can't strap on his toolbelt any longer. Uncle Brian would like to thank all our customers for making 2012 one of our best years to date. A special Thank you to Angieslist - and all the fine people who work there - Thanks for helping us make our business better.

Working with Brian was a true pleasure. We recently purchased a home in Colorado but are living in Texas. We met with Brian while we were out there, went over all the things we wanted done, and he provided an estimate to us. Our timeframes were very tight (he did the work within 1 week of agreeing to the contract) and everything was done when he said it would be and to our agreed specifications. Because we were remote (back in Texas) Brian sent us update pictures via his mobile every day to keep us appraised of how things were going. He even added, on the fly, access panels on the wall in the new closet so I could get to the wall behind the entertainment center for modifying wiring in the future. I could not be happier with the work he did and the professionalism that he did it. All of the doors he installed are amazingly solid and every one closes with a very satisfying 'thunk'. There was one issue with new wiring that was done in the closet. However, after I returned to CO and discovered the issue (mis-wiring) I called Brian and he had someone out within 2 hours to diagnose and fix the problem. This was actually a problem with an electrical sub-contractor who made a mistake, not Brian himself. I ecstatically recommend him for general carpentry and certainly door work!! When I have carpentry needs in the future, Brian will be my first and only phone call.
Description of Work: - Converted huge rear-projection TV entertainment nook in Family Room into a single wall with inset for flat panel. Remaining space turned into small closet with door from home office. - Added door to basement at base of stairs - Changed two sets of double hanging louvered sliding doors to solid core door sets with locks in basement furnace room - Converted large open archway between master bedroom and sitting room to a set of double 32" French doors - 'tuned up' our front double doors - changed two hanging sliding doors in our son's room (closet) to be fixed at the bottom also

Thank you for your Review! We do our best to please our customers and exceed their expectations, our efforts usually pay off handsomely with clients that are more than satisfied. We take our business seriously, knowing our clients have many choices. When they choose Uncle Brian's - we have the opportunity and privilege to deal with the hassle part of their renovation / make it look easy / and allow our clients to take a breath and relax. We can only assist about 100 clients each year, my goal is to please at least 99 of them. I'm proud to report that we're on track this year to meet that goal, although, I do need the assistance of each of my clients to clearly explain what they want out of their renovation project - and work with me to assure our mutual success. One thing I've learned - after almost 30 years in the Home Improvement Field is that I can't please everyone - but with hard work and planning - I can get real close! Thanks again for your well written and kind review and for giving Uncle Brian's the opportunity to get your list of things - Done! Uncle Brian

They were prompt and got right to work-----we were very satisfied with everything they did.
Description of Work: Brian rewalled our shower, changed some plumbing in the shower, changed a window and is coming back to tile and also fix some cupboard doors. They really did a nice job rewalling ---I'm sure we have no further problems with the shower. They cleaned up everything to perfection. Uncle Brians will definitely be the first one I call if we have more things to fix.

Brian was prompt in returning my initial phone call and stayed in contact with me untl he had a window of opportunity to fit my small job in his schedule. He and Josiah arrived and were friendly and personable. They got to work right away and although they were friendly they stayed focused on the job at hand. We have plans to do some work in our kitchen and Brian has already prepared a computer rendering for us. We look fforward to working with him again.
Description of Work: Brian and his assistant replaced a light fixture and mirror in my guest bathroom. They also removed a light fixture in our master bath and replaced it with two new fixtures. So this required patching the wall where the one fixture was removed and creating two new openings for the new fixtures. They also took down a huge expanse of mirror to allow for the placement of two separate mirrors above each sink.

Brian is polite, but didn't hesitate to offer a contrary opinion. I find this helpful from a professional.
Description of Work: We haven't yet decided on what Brian will do for us, but our initial experience has been very positive. He was very, very, very good. He was appreciative that I had sent him the list of things I needed done ahead of time. He was a great problem solver and he was very communicative. He was very kind as well. It's nice to know someone who you can call that you can trust, who also has a good recommendation.
Description of Work: He did handyman projects for me. This included the installation of shelving and drapery rods and curtain rods, as well as some brackets for cornices. This is an older house and you have to go through plaster walls so I needed someone to do it professionally. He did some other odds and ends for me too; on the side of the house where the siding was coming off a little, he repaired it so we wouldn't get wasps in there. I had to run to home depot to get some caulking because he wanted some that was paint-able. When I got back he and his worker had gone on the roof and cleaned all the downspouts for me as well as checking the chimney. He also asked if I would like him to remove the old TV antenna up there, and he did!

These guys were great. I had a huge long list of fix-up items to get a house that had been rented out ready for sale--way more than 2 people could do in the 4-hour span of the Angie's List deal, and way more than I could pay for. Brian worked with me on prioritizing what would be harder for me to do myself and what most needed doing, and got to work knocking out the highest priorities quickly. The jobs were done quickly, but still with good workmanship--it seems that he really can & will do things however you want: simple and banged out quickly, or intricate and worked through methodically.
Description of Work: Framing replacement pet doors into an existing wall opening that was not the right size; fixing storm door closing mechanism and front door deadbolt latching, building & installing replacement gate, replacing porch light fixture, fixing misaligned cabinet doors, repairing broken lazy susan.

Thanks for your review! I enjoyed working with your family and hope to return to deal with your attic ventilation project. Many Colorado homes have poorly ventilated attics and require additional soffit vents and a power roof or thermostatically controlled gable fan to keep the attic cooler. I've spoken to many folks who wonder why their air conditioner does not work on the 2nd floor. Usually, the excessive heat build up in the attic is the culprit and when that is addressed the a/c does it's job wonderfully. Please visit us at our website. Uncle Brian 720-641-7033

Brian and his professional crew replaced two large windows at a better price than others quoted, and ON TIME! We loved his work so much we had him replace flooring and reseal & caulk the bath and shower in the upstairs bath, replace flooring in the laundry room, add pulls and fixtures to our kitchen, (very fancy)! We then asked if he could remodel the entire powder room, and he helped us select fixtures, flooring cabinets and everything we needed. He stayed within our budget, which was a challenge! His team finished the job quickly, and to our exact liking, (even though we threw him some curve-balls). And the ornate casing he designed & built for the new windows in our family room always get a reaction when new guests visit our home! He made our family room the showcase room in our home. Whether you need a complete kitchen or bath, doors, windows, trim, paint or flooring, Uncle Brian and his team can handle just about anything! And his experience and professionalism show from start to finish! My wife is the ultimate introvert, but the Uncle Brian's team made her at ease throughout the job. They were fast, clean, respectful, and flexible! We recommend Uncle Brian's to everyone we know with the highest confidence!
Description of Work: Uncle Brian's replaced two large windows, replaced flooring, added pulls and fixtures in our kitchen, totally replaced flooring, sealed and caulked master bath, remodeled our downstairs powder room, re-cased windows upstairs and designed and built ornate casing for the new windows in our family room.

Uncle Brian was a pleasure to work with. We learned a lot from him and his tip saved us a bundle. We will use him in the future.
Description of Work: Uncle Brian replaced 7 windows in our Winter Park cabin in 2010 and later that year replaced our exterior doors.Uncle Brian's Home Improvements then completely remodeled the kitchen and bathroom in our cabin in 2011.He helped my husband and I design our new kitchen (the last one was 50 years old) from the floor up and showed us where to purchase our cabinets for about 50% less than the local Home Centers. He encouraged us to save our funds for more difficult aspects of the project and demo our kitchen. I'm glad we took his advice because it saved us about $600! The cabinets arrived about 1 week after we ordered them - Uncle Brian's started by removing the old flooring and leveling thesub floor (we actually had carpet in our old kitchen). Next they installed the wall and base cabinets. The new corner cabinet includeda Lazy Susan which I love! We brought in our own electrician (a friend) though Brian did everything else. He installed our cabinets, countertops, tile backsplash and set up our brand new kitchen sink and faucet. The only problem - the sink developed a crack in the porcelain veneer,he contacted Kohler and the manufacturer supplied a new one. Uncle Brian swapped it out a couple months later- at no charge. The final piece of the puzzle was the new kitchen floor- in all it took about 8 days (it took our neighbors almost 2 months to remodel a similar kitchen)! The bathroom was more involved than the kitchen and took just about as long. We didn't get involved in the demolition because of the cramped quarters and the plumbing involved. Brian removed almost all of the walls and framing due to a mold problem we had.He reframed the walls and ceiling and insulated them. After he installed a solid pine bathroom door, I immediately noticed how much more private thebathroom felt. The bathroom is located right next to our kitchen - so privacy has always been an issue.Next, they installed a new tub and prefab shower walls (I've found them very easy to clean). We have a window in our tub area and this has always been an issue as well, Brian installed a vinyl window and used waterproof vinyl moldings to finish it off. They installed a water resistant floor and a high efficiency toilet w/ a cabinet above. We considered tiling the walls as before, but Brian suggestedusing vinyl beadboard. He showed us a sample - we ok'd it - and are glad we went this route. We did our own painting and staining to save $$. We actually use our deep soaker tub now. Our old tub was always freezing cold. Taking a bath was unpleasant for young children. Since Uncle Brian insulated everything, even under the tub. I spend more time in the bathroom and so do the kids. The mold is gone and it's clean and beautiful. Uncle Brian's prices were reasonable- though not the cheapest we found. We feel like we got more than our money's worth.

They were excellent! Uncle Brian showed up about 5 minutes early to do a walkthrough of what I needed done. Originally I had just had the ceiling repair, light fixture and exterior wall repair on the list and I was doubtful they would be able to finish all the projects in the 4 hour window. Brian and Nate set up quickly, consulted me and advised on the jobs (they were able to provide excellent feedback on the stucco repair and long term advice on maintenance) and after 2 hours they were essentially waiting for plaster to dry. During that time, instead of just waiting, they actively walked around the house and found little jobs (rehung screen door) that they could complete. Brian took it upon himself to completely remove the screen door, replace the lattice that was anchoring it with solid wood, and then rehung it. In addition to being efficient and knowledgeable, they took the time to clean and paid a lot of attention to detail. Brian has a lot of knowledge and experience and he's really great about talking through the issue and providing the right solution. He's the perfect blend of doing a job efficiently but also correctly. I was very impressed by the quality of the work, the price, time and professionalism. Excellent job, I will definitely be hiring them again!
Description of Work: They repaired a hole (approx 2x4) in my ceiling, rewired and hung a new light fixture, filled a hole in an exterior wall to prevent water damage, did some stucco patching, rehung our front storm door, and removed a tv mount in one wall.

Thanks for your kind review. We were happy to look around the house while we were waiting for the plaster to cure to see what else we could accomplish. Since the storm door looked like it could use some help, I thought it would be a wise use of my time to deal with it right then and there. I wasn't certain if I could completely remove and reinstall it in the time I had , but this time everything worked out just fine. Always happy to please our clients, and work for such nice folks! I hope to replace 3 old drafty aluminum windows for the member with new Andersen Hi Performance Windows. Once again thanks for your kind words! Uncle Brian 720-641-7033

The most important thing is Brian's attitude. He was always upbeat. You can tell he loves what he does. He was always conscious of what we needed. For instance, we were without a sink for an afternoon. As soon as the old cabinets were out the new sink base was in with a temporary countertop to support the sink. Since I took a while to decide on just the right counter top, Brian installed temporary plywood counter tops on my new cabinets. Once the countertops were installed (we had them installed by the manufacture), Brian went to work on the details: under cabinet molding, crown molding, paneling on the sides and back of the cabinets (painted and antiqued to match). The thing is the project was constantly moving. If one part of the project stalled (like for the counter tops), then he started on the bay window or the lights or the texturing on the ceiling. He was constantly moving. The biggest thing was that he listened to what we wanted and made it work. Overall, it took about 4 weeks to do the whole kitchen plus a few little side projects. He did come back to do the backsplash once we decided what it should look like. And he came back to put tile on the foyer floor. He also fixed my garage last year. Before I do anything in my house I call Brian for his advice. I recommend Brian to everyone. My friends who have hired Brian are always impressed with the quality of his work. The one's who don't complain about their contractor cutting corners, so I tell them to hire Brian to fix it.
Description of Work: We'd been thinking about a new kitchen since moving in. Brian worked with us on the design over several days to get it just right. Plus, Brian didn't even try to pull that materials + 10% that other people pull. He was constantly trying to save us money on materials and time. And he recycled or reused everything he possibly could. Plus, Brian's attitude is great. He's really easy going, patient and fun. He works all day everyday until the job is done, and he's constantly moving (he even works while eats lunch). As far as the materials and work Brian did, he found some really quality cabinets from a local distributor. The cabinets were much better quality and for a lot less than what we saw at lowe's and home depot. Brian did everything too. He replaced the window to accomodate a better cabinet layout. I was a little nervous about doing that, but I'm glad I listened to Brian because that decision made the kitchen. He also moved the dishwasher which is finally not blocking the sink and cabinets now! He installed new resesed lights and pendant lights. He installed the new floor. He put in a beautiful title back splash. He even modified some of the cabinets to fit my kitchen and my design. But the best part is in the details. He reframed our three bay windows so they look like one big, beautiful window. Even the little lines on the molding line up at the corners. He made little slivers of floor base to cap the ends, so where the base ends it doesn't just have a sawed off edge. He built a custom valence to go over our new window and matched the paint to the cabinets. He custom made two transition strip for where our floor met the carpet. I could go on and on.

Thanks for your review and for putting your confidence in Uncle Brian's! I will be posting some of the pictures taken at the end of the remodel on my website to allow others to see why Phil and his family were so pleased. I regret not taking pictures prior to the completion of this project, to allow others to see the transformation, though, the after pictures have many Uncle Brian signature features. Uncle Brian

On his website, he says he will work to try and get the job done right the first time. I sent him an email three weeks after completion of the work and asked him, "If you don't, do you come back and make it right?" I then listed the issues I had with the work done. To this day, we have yet to receive any word back from him. We had him install a vanity top we purchased from him. We have since been told by several contractors that it was installed improperly and that we should have been advised by Uncle Brian that it wasn't even the right kind of top for the vanity. (Lack of integrity) It has since been replaced by a reputable contractor. We also had him install lighting in the bedrooms. We continually have the lights flickering on and off which potentially could lead to serious issues. Obviously, there was improper wiring done and we will need to bring an electrician out to see what kind of real damage was done. When he added additional switches, he didn't even match the color of the existing one next to it. (bone and white) I have since took out and replaced them so they match (sloppy and lack of detail) Lastly, he did some work to tighten a stair post. The work was done sloppily, leaving the floor uneven. I again had to spend a good hour correcting his work. The stair post is no better. We had planned on having him do more work for us at the time, but I asked him to leave after a day and a half. He had three on site most of the time and did not get much done as well as we foelt there was a real lack of attention to detail. When he said he had to take directions home to read how to install a remote control for the ceiling fan, I said enough was enough. I am glad I didn't throw away any more money on Uncle Brian. To top it all off, came home, saw the receipt as was shocked to see on his invoice that we were charged for every nail, screw, etc. used. Yet, he felt the liberty to take with him items we purchased for the project. Buyer beware!!!
Description of Work: We had Brian in our home end of July to do some repairs for us. Replace and add 2 ceiling fans, add 2 lights, install a vanity top.

I searched my emails today to see if I missed an email from the member and came up empty. Although I have worked for many hundreds of customers and know I can't please everyone, I believe Member thinks I was ignoring her and therefore all the venom. I really wish she would have simply called me and requested I deal with any issues she had. I will proactively deal with her complaint and do everything in my power to make it right! Member purchased a new home and had her carpet installation scheduled for the following day. I asked if she could delay the carpet to allow us sufficient time to complete her to do list. She responded that they were really stressed and could I please just do the job as fast as possible. I did my best to accommodate her harried schedule, obviously I failed. I apologize to Member and will attempt to contact her to make it right. Sincerely, Uncle Brian

He did a great job. The workmanship is fabulous. He is very professional. He had to reconstruct some of the door frames because he completely remodeled the doors in the pantry and laundry area so he redid the framework. He did a great job. All the doors were beautiful and great quality. The installation was good and he was neat and clean, cleaned up after himself. He had a couple of helpers that were knowledgeable and courteous. It was just a great experience.
Description of Work: He installed interior doors on an entire floor of my home, including a front entry way door.

Brian arrived on time, asked me what I wanted done and then suggested ways of accomplishing what we wanted. He completed the jobs quickly and for a fair price. The washer / dryer job was somewhat complicated considering the space available was not plumbed for our new stackable washer / dryer. The job was done perfectly the first time with no leaks and he cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. Everything is still working great a year and a half later. I will continue to recommended Uncle Brian's to everyone I know who is looking for his particular services because of our experience
Description of Work: We've had Uncle Brian's Home Improvements perform several jobs for us to date. First, He installed a ceiling fan in our living room and later an awning on our deck. Since both jobs went well we asked him to remove an extra sink in our oversized bathroom and install the neccessary plumbing to accomodate a stackable washer / dryer. Before this alteration my wife (and sometimes I ), had to lug the laundry up from the basement - what a chore! Uncle Brian's redid the plumbing and installed a vent for our new upstairs dryer! It's worked like a charm ever since. I was originally concerned that the area around the new vent would be drafty, but my concerns were eliminated when he told me he insulated this area. No drafts to date.

Overall I was impressed and happy with the quality of work. I was also pleased that I was able to trust the workers in my house while I had to be at work most of the time.
Description of Work: Uncle Brian's Home Improvements installed new cabintery in my laundry room and a wonderful new kitchen sink and faucet. I was very pleased with the quality of the cabinets and the installation - believe it not they even cleaned up after themselves! I had a plumber work for me last year and what a mess he left behind- I was worried about the mess again this time and pleasantly surprised that my house looked clean after the remodel. Brian installed new locks and a storm door on my front door and elimated the draft I was experiencing. Brian installed 2 ceiling fans and a great chandelier that he found at half price- I saved more than $120 on the chandelier alone! I was very impressed with the whole process. My laundry room looks fabulous. I would recommend Uncle Brian's to anyone because I know they will be happy with the results. I will defintely hire Uncle Brian's when I decide to remodel my kitchen and / or guest bath.
