I was approached by a representative of Skyline Roofing USA (Skyline) who was very professionally dressed and was knowledgable about the roofing business. I knew that I needed a new roof and he said that Skyline would complete the work for the amount of the insurance claim and we would have no out of pocket expenses. This was pleasant to my ears, so we decided to hire them and it was the biggest mistake that we ever made. We were told that the new roof would be installed 3 weeks after they got the first check, which was on October 11, 2011 for the amount of $5200. We were expecting the new roof and other work that was on the insurance claim to be completed by no later than mid-November. We didn't hear anything back from them for 3 weeks, and I decided that I needed to call. I called the rep that originally approached us and he said that he would take care of it. We still didn't hear anything back from Skyline for another 3 weeks. Finally, in early December, 7 weeks after they said that the work would be done, I got in touch with the CEO of Skyline, Mr. Jeff Posey. Mr. Posey informed me that the Project Manager would be in touch with us and that the work would be done promptly. When the Project Manager, Jeff Garcia, called I asked what the delay was for. I was told that we were forgotten about by Skyline because our paperwork was placed in the incorrect file. At this point I was extremely frustrated with Skyline. I finally got some good news on December 15, 2011 from Jeff Garcia stating that the crew would be here the next day for the roof replacement. On December 16, 2011 I met with Jeff Garcia and discussed the remainder of the work and what I wanted done and what I thought could be left alone so that I could save some money from this project. Apparently he didn't write any of this information down because the biling was screwed up as you will see later in this review. The new roof was installed on December 16, 2011 and we were told that the guttering would be installed shortly after that. About 2 weeks went by and I thought that was long enough, so I called Mr. Jeff Posey AGAIN. He said that he would get his guttering guy out the next week, which he did. Again, another 2 weeks went by and the window trim still needed done, so I called Mr. Posey AGAIN. He said that he would get his siding guy out here to get the window trim done, which he did. The work that was done looks good, just took a lot longer than they promised. During this whole time, all of the reps that I spoke with from Skyline stated that they "are a customer oriented company and that they wanted to make things right." Never once did anyone apologize for the delay, or ask how they could make things better, they just gave me the "feel good statement." I got a little ahead of myself, shortly after the roof was completed and before any of the other work was even started, Skyline contacted MY insurance company and claimed that ALL of the work was done to MY satisfaction and that MY insurance company should release the remainder of the funds for the claim. This infuriated me, and I made it clear to Skyline that I was not pleased. Again, no apologizes or offers to make things right, they just wanted their money. I made it clear to them that I would not pay them until the agreed upon work was completed. During this whole process, based upon the business practices of Skyline Roofing USA, I decided to register a complaint with the Colorado Better Business Bureau and Skyline is aware of my complaint. Once that all of the work had been completed, I asked them for a bill so that I could be done with them. Since I didn't have them do all the work from the insurace claim, I knew that I would be saving some money. To my surprise, Skyline sent me a bill for $200 MORE than what insurance claim was for. They tried to rip me off big time. I told them to try again because I wasn't going to pay them that much. They sent me another bill for $200 under what my insurance claim was for, and I knew that wasn't right either. And for the record, the bills were not itemized according to the work that they did. The bills just had a total figure at the bottom. I called Jeff Posey and told him that they were still way off and his reply was for ME to figure out what I owed them. I should have told them nothing, but that is hind sight. So, therefore, I did their job for them and figured out the final amount that they were owed and have finally paid them. I wish that I could say that this whole debacle is done and over with, but I have since gotten a call from Skyline asking that I contact the BBB and inform them that my complaint has been rectified. I don't think that I should because I don't think that the issue at hand has been addressed. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.
Description of Work: My insurance paid for a new roof, window trim around 5 windows (but I only had Skyline do the trim around 3), trim around the garage door (not done by Skyline), minor painting (not done by Skyline), and repair to a solar heating panel (not done by Skyline). I wanted to save some money from the insurance claim and I can do some of the work myself and decided that Skyline did not need to do that work.
