 + -1 moreFixed my 8 year old vacuum up very nicely, on short notice and informed me when complete. Was very helpful and personable. Answered all of my questions. I also ended up buying a small step vacuum that I've enjoyed so much I went all over my house vacuuming persian rugs after I was done with the stairs. Was great for the couches too! Highly recommend going here if you have vacuum needs!

 + -1 moreTotal charge for almost an hour's work? $3.50 for the new belt. I argued that he'd spent more than half an hour with it and had gotten it back in working order. He said he couldn't guarantee how long the solder joints would hold, it didn't look "pretty" and he couldn't charge me for it. Amazing. While he worked on it we talked about canisters vs. uprights, and fancy machines with balls inside vs. vacuums with disposable bags. I thought all his opinions were well-founded. What I liked the most was I never felt like he thought he had a vacuum repair monopoly in Longmont...unlike the other store on Main Street.
Description of Work: My canister vacuum had two issues: the main vacuum didn't have much suction and the power head wasn't working at all. Mike started with the canister and ran through a series of checks. Maybe it had been something in the hose, maybe it was the filter clogged with fine dust or maybe it was the bag (which didn't look full) clogged with extra-fine dust. Regardless, he put in a new bag and the motor sounded different and the suction was much more powerful. Then he tested all the electricity into the power head and determined that it was the 18" connector hose between the canister and the wand. He found a replacement on-line and emailed me the link so I could order it from home. Then, with a grin, he dug into the plug and resoldered each of the "fingers" to their wires, wrapped it up in electrical tape, and voila...the head was back in business. But the brush wasn't rotating just right and it needed a new belt, which he quickly put on. That sounded different, too. Total charge? $3.50 for the new belt.  + -1 moreMike is AWESOME!I brought my vacuum in because it wasn't sucking so well as of late, and where some retailers might have seen this as an opportunity to sell me an expensive new machine, Mike checked it out while I watched and let me know that it just needed to be cleaned. I came back a few hours later and the work was done on-time and very much to my satisfaction. He even replaced a belt at no extra charge.I highly recommend Main Street Vacuum, and one day when I win the lottery and I'm going to buy a Dyson, I'll do it here!
