M and M Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical

Made an appointment the day prior, was given a 10:30-1:30 window. Called the morning of to confirm the times and was assured I was on the schedule. Tech showed up an hour late. Asked if they were especially short-handed today, and the answer was "no." Employees of other companies were on time or early and wore shoe covers when touring the house to take measurements, neither of which was done in this instance. Problem was with my AC condenser unit outside and was told the evaporator inside the home would likely also require replacing given its age. Cost estimate for the work was $20,000. Had several other bids for the same work and they were all a third of the price. Asked how much to repair the damage instead of purchasing new equipment, was given an estimate of $10,000 (again well over other estimates of replacing the equipment entirely). At the end, was given an illegible estimate which charged $135 total, $45 of which appears to have been for "furnace clean and tune." The tech never set foot on the same floor as the furnace. Generally I put a lot of stock in Angie's List ratings and this company seems to have accumulated its share of top ratings. I simply don't see how that could have been possible in this instance as this work was so far below the level of its competitors. I would implore anyone to look elsewhere when considering similar work in the future.

This was the second time we had to call because of no heat. We had M and M clean and service our furnace for winter in October. At that time we were told the furnace was fine. Then in late November or early December, our sons called to say they had no heat. M and M was prompt in going out, did a diagnostic, and said they couldn't find anything wrong. The trip and diagnostic cost $90. At the advice of our maintenance man here in ABQ, my son turned the unit completely off to re-set it and that seemed to work. Then yesterday (January 16th), there was no heat again. I asked my maintenance man here in ABQ what he thought the issue might be. He said it was most likely either the ignitor or sensor. I called M and M again and asked that another technician be sent this time around and what my local maintenance man suggested could be wrong. They were prompt in sending someone out and their tech did find the hot surface ignitor was the issue. However, the tech told my son the part alone would cost us $325 plus $45 for the diagnostic, plus $45 trip fee. I was furious! We own a property management company in ABQ and change these things out all the time and I knew the ignitor cost is under $50. I even looked them up online while I was talking to my son and the tech and told them so. But the tech said "that's what we charge for them." So I sent him on his way. My son picked one up for $45 and it was a one-screw installation! I understand everyone marks their parts up, but marking up a part over seven times the actual cost is unconscionable to me. The sad thing is, people will pay it when they have no heat and don't know any better.

Technician did the work requested - no problems with that. My only complaint would be he told us he thought our water heater needed to be replaced soon and he quoted between $1600-1800 which is pretty outrageous to us. We own a property management company in Albuquerque and we replace water heaters all the time for less than 1/2 of what we were quoted here. So I would not use them to replace a water heater. We did have to call them back out on the furnace as the furnace kept shutting itself off on one particular day just a few weeks ago. Technician couldn't find any issues.....so far it is still working.

I think the experience was good. I was not there for it, but my renter did not have any complaints. They have not called me to say it is not working so I think everything was fine. They called me less than 30 minutes after I made an internet request for service.

It went very well! He found a minor problem which has been resolved under our Home Warranty.

Overall, everything went very well. It was great that Brian called before arriving so I could be prepared for his visit. He was thorough with the inspection. I had a very positive experience with Mand M. I booked them to take advantage of their Angie's list A/C tune-up deal. The technician showed up on-time and was exceptionally polite and courteous. He checked over my A/C system and then showed me that I was slightly low on refrigerant. He didn't just tell me, he showed me the numbers on his gauges and compared them to the numbers on the chart on the compressor unit. There was no sales pitch to buy the refrigerant--just the information to let me decide if I wanted to address the problem or let it slide for now. The technician answered all my questions in painstaking detail which only reaffirmed he knew his stuff.While my interaction with Mand M was for a small job they proved themselves to be reliable, honest and competent. I will not hesitate to call them again when my next HVAC service comes due.

Everything had stopped working after attempting to turn on the AC for the first time of the season. Called for a service person to come and take a look at the unit and was offered an appointment the same day without asking for it. Couldn't accept it, but very much appreciated their attempt to accommodate a quick reply. Couple days later, a service tech came out and began a complete top to bottom inspection of my HVAC unit. Even though he found quickly found what ended up being the problem right off the bat, he continued to inspect each wire in the main unit, the thermostat, and all the compressor pressure checks. Not only did he seem to check everything, he carefully explained exactly what he was checking, why he was checking it, what he was looking for and what would happen if it were found to be faulty. He told me his reason for doing it was he believes in educating the consumer. So, even if we never used him again and went with another vendor we would have the knowledge to never get ripped off. Overall the fix was very simple, but when we call the professionals in we are paying for their knowledge, not the simplicity of the fix. That morning I got a great education, got my heating and AC back and didn't feel like I got ripped off. For me, someone who takes the time to educate me and who shows that kind of integrity, along with a thorough job, will always win my business. I've only had to use them once, but I would use them again and would request Morris as my tech. Great job, and thank you!

The appointment was scheduled one week in advance. I was contacted by M and M to move in the appointment, so I met with Eric one half hour earlier than scheduled. Eric arrived right on time and performed the thorough inspection/certification in a very professional manner and in a reasonable amount of time. I would hire this company again for any furnace needs. Thank you Eric.

They were a lot fairer with their price and they did a good job. It was a plus that they were a local company. They were polite, professional, friendly and courteous. The heater is still working great.

M&M does not service boilers so did not do the requested tune-up. Very polite company.

We called M & M that night and they came out the next morning to see what was going on. Turns out we needed a new furnace and M & M was able to get us one, and install it, the day before Thanksgiving. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They helped us out of a bad situation at one of the busiest times of the year and we are very grateful!! The price was good, the service was exceptional and we would not hesitate to use M & M again!|Thank you so much!!

Placed a call to M&M just after a FEMA level flood took out our neighborhood's basements (150+ homes). Owner Eric came out that day and provided a very competitive bid for a high end Carrier system. He was very knowledgeable about the product and gave us good counsel on what was right for our home and needs. Despite many homes in need of similar service at the same time, he pulled in extra technicians and they worked evenings and weekends to get us back to a working system. Eric's staff is very helpful, courteous, professional, and tidy. We trusted them in the house throughout out the install. They worked with our rebate paperwork. We love the variable speed fan/heat/cooling of the Infinity system, we are comfortable and can't hear the system running inside or outside the house. PS: We had neighbors who waited over a month to get thier Lennox systems delivered and installed and they paid much more than we did. We have to listen to their Lennox outdoor units and they have a loud fan and an annoying vibrating sheet metal noise.

The serviceman was professional and courteous. He seemed knowledgeable and completed his work quickly. I could tell he has been doing this type of service for at least 5 years as he had the records to show he had serviced our furnaces in 2008 (before we purchased the house). He did find a leaking gas valve on one of the furnaces, which always makes me a little suspicious, but he brought me downstairs and showed me how his meter was reading gas when it got close to the furnace, and I appreciated that. He had the part on hand and completed the replacement quickly. The price seemed a little high for that ($315), but the furnace is working fine and I have no complaints.

I got a call from Eric, the owner of M and M and we talked about successful communications and that the best way to reach M & M was to call them directly and schedule service. During this phone call a service call was placed and in addition to all the good work this company was doing for our Longmont and area flood victims, they made a point in getting us in and taken care of. They cleaned everything, tested the operations and made minor adjustments so we could have an optimally running furnace. Eric himself did the work and he was punctual, precise and competent. Did I mention personable? He was that too.

My 30+ year old A/C unit died and with no idea whom to contact, I came to Angie's List and found M&M Heating and Air Conditioning one of the top rated firms in Longmont. I contacted their office, speaking to Cindy, who made an immediate appointment to talk with Eric, the owner. Eric arrived promptly when scheduled and went through my entire system with me, explaining things in detail. He offered several solutions, explaining the pros/cons of each. After making a selection on what equipment I wanted installed, an installation date was set about 10-14 days in advance. Eric contacted me several times to let me know the status of the equipment. The date of the installation arrived and he and his crew arrived promptly and on time. Both installers were knowledgable and professional. I had several challenges in my 35 year old home, among which was no air return in the upper level of the house. Not only was my new heating and air conditioning system installed very professionally, but they were able to install a new air return for the upper level of the house just as I had been promised. Eric stopped by to inspect the progress of the job several times, assisting his two installers a couple of times as well. There were several uniquely challenging aspects of the job and each was handled professionally. They each treated my home as though they were working on their own, making sure to cover my floor for any debris and cleaning up after completion of each step of the job. To install the entire system took a couple of days and when done, everything was functioning as promised. Last but not least, the Carrier Corporation was providing some rebates for the equipment used and Cindy in the office assisted me with the rebate registration, making it easy to get the paperwork completed. All in all, I can't say enough great things about M&M Heating and Air Conditioning. Eric really cares about the customers he does business with and it shows in the way he treats them. I'd call them again in a heartbeat if I had future heating or air conditioning needs.

I called M and M when my air conditioner was barely cooling the house. Kelvin cleaned the compressor unit outside, inspected its key components, and quickly identified the real problem: most of the refrigerant was missing. Before adding any new refrigerant he quoted the maximum amount the job would cost ($70 per pound of R-22 times the six pound capacity of my unit + $150 for a "stop leak" chemical + $45 of labor + $45 for the tune up + $45 trip charge = $705). The final cost was lower, since the unit did not need all six pounds replaced, but I appreciated knowing that maximum amount before approving the work. Although my furnace is running perfectly, he pointed out in passing that it is nearing the end of its 15 year life and recommended we start budgeting a replacement (giving ballpark costs for that work). I appreciated that especially ? no pressure at all to buy anything today (which I certainly wouldn't have needed); just a warning that a very big expense could be coming up any time in the next few years. He likewise gave a quote for replacing the air conditioner, again noting that the my unit should still run perfectly for years but that the replacement will be expensive when that time comes.

He came on time, was knowledgeable, explained the situation and options clearly, and did the work. The air conditioner is working fine now.

I initially called M&M at 6:30 am on the morning I first discovered my AC was not working. It was going to be HOT that day. They answered the phone! (vrs getting a VM) and set me up with an appt later that day. Kelvin Breeze called before he was due to arrive that he could come earlier than scheduled, which was okay with me. He did a check of the Furnace and AC unit and shared information with me about what the possible causes of trouble were and how to prevent some as well. He filled my AC with needed Freon and left with the unit running cold :) Next day I came home from work and it was not working again. He came right out, made some adjustments, and so far so good. Really appreciate his fast, after hours response, on such a hot day. Didn't charge me for the 2nd trip either! Thanks Kelvin and M&M!

I wrote an email to M and M on a Sunday, describing my a/c problem and the bad service I had just received from another company. I was not expecting a response until at least the next day, but the president of the company, Eric Meiers, phoned me almost immediately and made an appointment to come to my house to inspect the problem. He was on time, inspected the equipment, and gave me my options. He explained everything carefully and clearly. I decided to get a new condenser, as mine was pretty old anyway. Their price was reasonable. The installation couldn't be done for another week, but because the weather was so hot, Eric did a temporary fix and said he would deduct the cost from the price the next week. The following week, two other men showed up to do the installation. They were efficient, polite, and cleaned up completely afterward. Eric stopped by to check on the installation. Everything is working perfectly, and the entire experience could not have been better. I would not hesitate to hire this company again.

Eric, the owner, was terrific. He was patient, knowledgeable and professional. I put him through a lot of time reviewing different options, including replacing both A/C and furnace with a two-stage system with different qualities. He was very responsive in answering all my questions. His pricing was very competitive. In the end, I decided just to replace a poor functioning A/C with a good quality Carrier unit and not go for all the upgrades. I delayed the installation several months for a variety of reasons. But when my previous unit failed completely and action needed to be taken quickly during hot summer days, he was able to get a crew to my home in a couple days to install the new unit. The two fellows installing the unit were pleasant and courteous, did a professional looking installation, and cleaned up well after their work. Eric came by at the end to inspect things and was in touch with the installers during the installation. The new unit is working great, much better than the old one. I'd recommend him and his company.

M&M's prices were very good compared to our other company. We will continue to use M&M
