Description of Work: They were asked to take a look at a small stand-alone venedt gas heater unit in our old house in Colorado which we rent out. Our tenants had complained that the pilot light was going out, and we thought it might be time to change out the thermal couple. We live out of state, so we called M&M to come have a look-see and we would authorize the work to be done. However, upon his inspection, he insisted the heater could not be fixed and that we needed a new system, to the tune of $5000. (A brand new 50,000 BTU stand-alone vented gas heater actually runs about $750 total, not including installation). We did not authorize the new furnace system, and instead a good friend of ours was able to stop by and have a look at it. He replaced the thermal couple for the price of about $2.00 and adjusted the valve. The representative of M&M clearly intended to not only sell us something we did not need, but didn't even understand that the entire unit itself would only cost $750 total. Luckily for us he did not know what he was talking about, or being out-of-state, we might have believed him that it was time to replace it. |

Description of Work: My furnace stopped working in the middle of a very cold night.. At 7 AM I called and they had someone at my house by 9 AM with a simple fix.

Description of Work: Completed several diagnostic tests to determine the problem. Cleaned evaporator coil and flame sensor. Problem solved.

Description of Work: A furnace in a second home stopped working right before a very cold snowy weekend. The part was not available until after the weekend. Eric went above and beyond his normal services to help me find a solution to keep the house pipes from freezing. He called a friend in plumbing to help me get the house winterized. When the part, a blower, arrived, it was installed immediately. M and M was helpful, very reasonably priced and on time. I will be using them for my heating and air conditioning services again. My experience was very good. BTW, the furnace was an 11 year old high efficiency Trane which had broke once before. "It's hard to stop a Trane"... No, they stop all by themselves.

Description of Work: Inspection and service of home AC unit: They were able to expedite scheduling and service our AC unit economically and thoroughly. I had a problem with the coils freezing in the basement. Originally, the work as scheduled a few days out, but thankfully they were able to work me in sooner. The scheduler called to set up the time, and just as promised, the repairman called on time to confirm. He arrived promptly, introduced himself professionally, and went to work. He explained every phase of the inspection and service. We were lucky this time, the coils outside were badly plugged with cotton, which only took a few minutes to clean. After checking the refrigerant level and cooling efficiency, we were up and running.

Description of Work: They replaced a whole house air conditioner, coil, furnace, and thermostat. This was a big job and I was nervous about choosing the right company. I'm very glad I chose M and M (Meiers Mechanical). They did an excellent job and were very easy to work with. The head of the company, Eric Meiers, does the estimates and is very good at explaining HVAC systems and the range of choices available. He has a lot of experience at installation, himself, so he isn't just a salesman. He knew a lot more than the other two people who gave me estimates on this job. Although this is not a large company, M and M is a very professional company and also has better prices. They offer higher quality products, state of the art, and don't try to sell you outdated equipment. They really stood out as the best choice for this job. They bring all the equipment they will install, so you don't have to make any separate purchases yourself. I asked them for an estimate because they had such good reviews on Angie's List. It's true--they are an excellent company, very professional from start to finish, and knowlegeable and ethical in all aspects of the work.

Description of Work: I own an older property, read historic. The furnace that I had was an older forced air gas unit that was failing. I live between Longmont and Boulder, Colorado and know from experience to choose companies in Longmont if possible as they are more reasonable and in general more responsive. I looked at 3 companies in Longmont and their ratings from various sources on the internet. I chose M and M Heating and Air Conditioning. This is a small family run company. The owner (Eric) came by in the middle of winter (Jan 2011) and gave me a quote which I felt was reasonable so I paid $2,000. down to get a Carrier unit and schedule the installation. The installation was on Jan 7th, 2011. Eric sent over two installers to do the work. In Colorado we get high winds and or very cold temps and or snow. The day of the installation the weather was moderately cold, with no snow or wind to deal with. The installation took place in the basement of the house and the two installers worked all day to install the new Carrier forced air gas unit. They were diligent, quiet and very efficient. At the end of the installation I came down to the basement to see the unit and get the sizing for new filters. They hauled off the old unit and the new unit has been working quite nicely for one year. Today I had to install a programmable thermostat which Eric (the owner) came out and installed. My old thermostat was 35 yrs old and I believe I can realize more savings by using the programmable unit. To date I am very happy with the service, the furnace and the price of the install. I am now considering using this company to install a whole house pad installed AC unit.
