Five Star Painting Alex Miller - Owner Longmont, CO 80501 Date of Work – 7/10/2017 Actually Started – 7/11/2017 Link to YouTube slideshow: Our experience with Five Star Painting was nothing short of horrific. First, they failed to show up the first day. We were told it was because the project manager, Jon, was just back from vacation and this project was mixed up with a different one. The second day, they were supposed to show up at 8:00am they were at our house at 11:30am. The first day of work went OK. All the problems started on the second day. The second day, they showed up on time. I started talking with one of the guys who said they’d be done in a couple of hours. I asked how he was going to paint the second coat of paint and two coats of paint on the contrast wall in a couple hours. This immediately started a heated argument about what two coats of paint was and it is not one coat of primer and one coat of paint. One could clearly see primer through the first coat of paint. I told him to bring the project manager on site so that we could clear this up. After he made a phone call, he came back and informed me that the they would apply a second coat of paint all the way around. I’ll preface this part by stating that the walls are a level 5 drywall finish and completely flat. There was no texture whatsoever on the walls... At about 3:00pm, they came by and told me they had finished up. I went to look at the completed work and the first thing I noticed was a large bubble and paint tear out nine feet up one of the corners. They said, they had problems taping the corner to get a straight edge and there was nothing they could do about it. I looked around some more and found garbage that they rolled in the paint all over the walls. There were streaks and runs everywhere. In some cases, the runs were so bad they looked like half to one-inch paint rivers oozing down the walls. The wall color and ceiling color were the same however, the ceiling was flat and the walls were matte. Somehow, they managed to paint the walls flat but didn’t do it will enough because one could see streaks of matte though out the now flat sheen walls. On top of it completely missed some sections. There is also paint on the wood banister and carpet. To be fair, the carpet is garbage and is being removed. However, Jon told the crew to cover things up anyway and they didn’t do it. To top it all off, they took the wad of paint that came out of the corner and through it on the floor where our 3-month-old Havanese puppy found it and started chewing on it. It only took 45 minutes to clean the paint from his face and out of his mouth. After a bit of a cooling off period, I informed Jon and he came out to look. He agreed that the work did not represent what Five Star Painting was about. He went through a list of options to fix the issues. I told him they weren’t coming back and I wanted Five Star Painting to get me back to a wall surface that I had before they started. He asked me to get some quotes and send them to him and Alex. Finding someone to quote the work was not easy. As soon as I told companies it was a level 5 drywall finish they said they didn’t have the time or the personnel. I finally found someone out of Longmont willing to look at it. After asking who painted it, he ballparked the quote and told me he’d have something on paper in a day. The quote came back $2500 to fix what was messed up. He was the only drywaller that would give me a quote. Alex balked at the quote and stated he’d send out a guy that they used in the past, Paul. I stated that would be fine. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a card. His truck and clothing didn’t bear a company name. I showed Paul the level work I expected for anyone bidding the job. After Paul stated everything short of “I am not interested in the work”. He outright bold-faced lied and told me that he couldn’t tell a difference between the other paint work in the house and the paint work that Five Star Painting completed. At the end of the conversation, it came down to time and materials to fix the parts of the wall and corner that were really messed up. Later that night I received an email stating that they; Alex, Jon, and Paul all thought that the work they had completed was good work and they were willing to send a $500 check to fix where the workers had peeled and bubbled paint. At this point, I didn’t really want to deal with it anymore and agreed to it. Fast forward two months, I have yet to see the check he was going to send. Therefore, I am writing this for home owners to see the type of work that Five Star Painting delivers. Please take approximately four minutes to look at the pictures before deciding to hire Five Star Painting. Bottom line, I would never let this company or the drywaller inside my house to do anything ever again. I added several pictures to this post. It went great. They are reliable, thorough, competent. they were very communicative and I had no problem getting a hold of them. The bidding process was very simple. The gentleman that came out was very nice, and explained everything. The guys that actually did the painting were very polite and professional. they were definitely the best economical choice. I will be calling them back to do the upstairs.

The company made a very prompt appointment for an estimate, sent a prompt estimate, and were able to work me into the schedule very quickly. The crew of brothers arrived and were totally professional. They taped with precision, covered everything, painted to perfection, and were polite and present. I would hire them again and ask for the same crew. Totally pleased - I am sure they are not the cheapest, but their work is exceptional.

They did it again! Another fabulous job by these men! I won't use anyone else. They are so thorough. There were cracks in the ceiling from house settling. They did a nice job filling in the cracks and repainted the whole ceiling. You can hardly see where these cracks were. They were fast, efficient and pay attention to details! 5 STARS!

We have a stucco house that had a lot of cracks. Tracy and his men definitely managed to cover the cracks with multiple layers. They did a great job with the color contrast.

We had a 2 man crew, who showed up on time, were polite and professional. They power washed the house on a Monday, painted the whole body of the house on Tuesday, on Weds. touched up the body, painted the gutters and fascia, and Thurs. more touch up and painted around all the windows. The men did a fabulous job and the owner came out twice to check and make sure everything was to our liking! Wee had a few people knock on our door and ask who did the paint job. Was so happy to share. Wish all services were this great!
