I like their pricing structure, the fact that it is a flat rate instead of hourly. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They finished the job in a timely manner and it went much faster than I had thought it would. They understood exactly what was needed.
Description of Work: Sundog Electric ran the electric for my 4 ceiling fans. They charge a rate of $75 each for the wiring and $75 each for the installation of the fans.

Brian responded quickly to my call for an estimate and got the work scheduled as soon as my fixtures arrived. They first installed the 4 overhead lights and fan. There were no existing lights so they had to drill some holes in the drywall to do the wiring. I was nervous about the drywall repairs but they really went out of their way to minimize the holes and made sure there were no surprises. The ceiling fan was damaged in shipping so it had to be replaced. When Brian returned to do the can lights, he switched out the ceiling fan and boxed everything up again so it was ready to ship back to the store. The cans were installed in an 18-foot ceiling, so most of the work was done on top of a 14-foot ladder. Yikes! The final cost was less than the estimate -- and a fraction of what the lighting store would have charged. All work was done on-time, with great quality and respect for my home and family. We couldn't be happier with the results.
Description of Work: Installed overhead lights in 4 rooms, including the box, wire, switch and fixtures; 6 recessed can lights in 18-foot ceiling; 2 dimmer switches; and a ceiling fan with remote. As an added bonus Brian replaced an old hardwired smoke detector and helped us figure out a mystery switch in the basement so we now can light the furnace area.

Brian was working on a neighboring house where I approached him in asking him to help us with the above mentioned items. Brian and his coworker came over after his first appointment and completed our projects quickly and it all works perfectly. They were both pleasant, explained the problem with the outlet and cleaned up after they were through.

Could not have gone better. Brian Sears was responsive, informative, on time, within budget, careful to keep living areas clean, careful to keep drywall patching to a minimum and very fast and efficient. I recommend him for any electrical job completely, without hesitation, without reservation and only with the highest praise.
Description of Work: 1) Removed old track lighting and installed 8 recessed low voltage lights and dimmer switches. 2) Brought extra service to garage and installed multiple outlets and switches. 3) Added whole house surge protector.

Brian provided a firm quote over the phone, scheduled the appt. a few days from when I called, arrived on time, did a great job with the installation, including mounting the remote controls on the wall and cleaning up afterward. Note that I had called him about a week prior and got the estimate, then called a Handyman service. They sent someone out for a free estimate, which was about twice what Brian said he'd charge, plus materials. Brian's price was all inclusive, so I went with him, and glad I did.
Description of Work: Brian and his son installed 2 ceiling fans into two bedrooms where there was no ceiling lighting or any sort of pre-existing electrical hook-ups.

Brian gave me a detailed estimate of the work and cost by phone, including possible difficulties they might encounter. He arrived on time, worked quickly and kept me informed of his progress, and explained the cost breakdown upon completion. He even made a run to the hardware store, "off the clock", to purchase a few plates that he needed to complete the project.

Great! Brian is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional all-around. His prices are very reasonable, and he knows what he's doing. I definitely plan to use him again on other electrical work we will be doing.
Description of Work: I called Brian to ask him to come over and look at the project. He agreed to come by around 6 p.m. the same day, which was later than he normally worked, so that was good right from the start. The work included finishing some electrical outlets in the kitchen back splash, and identifying the cause of some flickering track lights, and fixing it. He gave a competitive bid and scheduled a time to come back the following week to do the work. Initially, we thought the work involved replacing the transformers on two track lights, which would have required me to buy two new transformers. However, he was somehow able to get two new transformers from Home Depot for me for free, in exchange for the return of my original ones! That saved a couple hundred dollars for me. When he came to fix them, it turned out it was the dimmer that caused the problem, so he returned the transformers for me, again at no cost. He came back on Saturday to replace the dimmer and finish the job.

Brian was responsive to my schedule and responsive to my phone calls. He submitted a competitive bid which I accepted. Even when Xcel Energy told me that I may have to have a heavier service line run under my yard from the pedestal he got involved and called Xcel for me. The result was that we used the existing underground feed. Brian provided me with positive design ideas that I accepted and then finished the work in a few days with top-notch quality. The inspection went well with minor issues (like old Xcel-installed wiring that is no longer in the Lakewood code book). He changed this for free. He also came out on a cold, snowy Saturday (!!) to knock out the electrical hook-up for our new hot tub after just two days after I called! It was already agreed upon that I had prepaid for this work, but the timeliness was important and unusual. This is an honest and top electrician that has good prices.
Description of Work: Service change to a G.E. 200 amp panel with existing meter can and laterals. Add switch and receptacle by grill for light above. Hook up A/C condenser disconnect and install J-Box. Install pipe and wires with disconnect for hot tub. Install J-Box, pipe, and 50' of wires to shed with a GFI receptacle in shed. Trenching was required, but performed by another company. Install 50' pipe, wires, and transfer switch with twist lock connectors on each side to hook up outside power generator. (note - transfer switch not included, I bought this from Reliant on my own). Lakewood Electrical Inspection fees were included. Inspection yielded that a cold-water bond (ground) was inadequate and HEAVY duty copper was run to the water pipes in the basement for free.

Brian has now worked on our historic office building and our historic home. What do you want from an electrician? 1. You want him to show up on time. Brian does that. 2. You want him to answer the phone when you call. Brian does that. 3. You want him to appear steady and trustworthy. Brian was both. 4. You want a quality job. Our house is no easy patient. It is old, built of brick and plaster. It is very difficult to wire. Brian worked through the obstacles and managed to make the whole thing look really good! 5. You want to feel good when you write the check. We were more than assured that we got our money's worth. Brian works steadily from job beginning to job end, and probably doesn't charge enough for his work.

Brian is fantastic! His prices are reasonable. He is very professional, prompt, clean and educational. We did much of the work in the bathroom ourselves and Brian was great with working around our slowish schedule (coming in to do the rough work and then waiting a month or two to return for the finish work). Brian was great at helping us figure out how to make our ideas work better for the space and fit into our budget. He's great at talking us through the process, and doesn't ever make you feel like you're asking dumb questions. Sundog is the perfect combination of great customer service and good work. We will have to have electrical work done in every room in our old house. I plan on using Brian for each of those jobs.
Description of Work: This was a bathroom remodel and new install of washer and dryer in an 1890's house. Brian ran new wiring to the bathroom, added new outlets, switches and lights in a gutted out room and ran new 220 to the adjacent room for a new washer and dryer hook up having to bring a new line in from the breaker box outside. He also had to figure out some of the old (and oddly installed wiring) that was there.

The project was scheduled in advance with Brian Sears, CEO of Sundog Electric, to accommodate his schedule and mine. He was forthright in his appraisal of his workload and scheduled my project to fit into his commitments. After we scheduled the project Mr. Sears was prompt in meeting the scheduled time that we had agreed upon. After reviewing the scope of the project with Mr. Sears he provided a bid of $215 on the project. I agreed to this price and he proceeded to replace the chandeliers and to install a new track light. He was very professional and accommodating throughout the process.
Description of Work: On Dec. 14, 2006 Brian Sears replaced chandeliers in my dining room and in the dinette area adjacent to the kitchen. He also installed a new track light in my kitchen. The latter project required the installation of a new circuit to provide electrical power to the fixture. It involved drilling through a support truss and fishing the wiring from the closest electrical circuit to the lighting fixture.

Brian was on time, very experienced, knowledgeable, and enjoyable to work with on this large project. He spent several days replacing the main electrical panels and researching ''Mystery'' switches. I was not moved into the house yet, but he would make sure I had an update each day so I understood the progress. Brian found EVERY Mystery switch and fixed every wall outlet. He installed some additional outside lighting and was very helpful. He even wrote down the type and Watt of light bulbs I needed to buy. I have had Brian back to do additional work and will do so again in the future.
Description of Work: They replaced the 2 main electrical panels for the house. They repaired numerous electrical problems found during a home inspection. They figured out what certain switches control, replaced outlets, upgraded a dryer outlet, and repaired wiring. Many of the switches were a ''mystery'', as even the previous home owner did not know what they controlled. There was a lot of ''Handyman'' work done that Brian corrected.

Brian was on time, Very courteous and professional. He first rewired for a light over a table. Took about 30 minutes. Then replaced a very large glass chandelier that was hanging over a stairwell (15'drop). He needed some extra parts and went to Home Depot. The whole job took less than 3 hours. His actual bill was less than his estimate!

Mr. Sears phoned back promptly, and we made an appointment. He appeared exactly when he said he would. It took him five minutes to determine the problems (unfortunately, I need my electrical system upgraded) but then spent three HOURS and 15 MINUTES educating me as to the capacity (and lack thereof) of my electrical system, showing me what was going to be a problem with electrical inspectors, and gave me a very favorable quote to do not only that work, but also other work associated with the remodel (can lighting, new outlets, move wiring around). He said he did not have another appointment that day and spent all that time, basically educating me, and charged me NOTHING! When I am ready to do any electrical work, Brian Sears at Sundog Electric will get the job.
Description of Work: I called Brian Sears to look at a problem I was having using hair dryers in my bathrooms, thinking that it was an outlet problem. I also wanted Mr. Sears to give me a bid on the electrical part of a kitchen/living room remodel that I am planning.
