Everything went very well except for the fan. The ceiling fan started making noise, and he came out and fixed it by first trying to balance it, and then replacing the ceiling fan with a new one, same model. I think it was more work than he expected, and the fact that the ceiling fan needed to be changed wasn't even his fault. I'm the guy that picked the fan. Yet, he went far and above what I thought was required to solve the problem. Brian, from Sundog, runs an excellent shop, and I highly recommend you go with him if you need electrical work done.
Description of Work: Sundog hung a ceiling fan for me, plus other assorted electrical work like adding a plug, adding a light switch, cleaning up some wiring, and helping me to trace where a wire was coming from to a plug.

Very well. They were very professional and they explained what they believed to be happening and what they were going to do to try and fix it. They were fair on their pricing and flexible on payment terms.

VERY well. I received an estimate from Brian on October 20th and he did the work Tuesday, October 28th. He is efficient, reassuring and professional. Good communication and explained everything to me very precisely WITHOUT adding fear factors to my situation.

Brian arrived on time, gave me a range of prices depending on what he ran into and began the troubleshooting. I left for approximately 40 minutes to get a light fixture. Upon my return, he indicated that he would be unable to pull a new wire without major repair work being required in the house. However, he had verified that the wiring was good ... just too short. He developed a work-around and completed the job efficiently following that.
Description of Work: Repaired electrical line to the porch lighting fixture, installed a box and installed a new motion detecting light (purchased separately).

Problem turned out simple "Wires in bath receptacle were not tight under the compression screws", but it could have been far more serious. Because we had a leak from condo above us a few months prior to this plus some questionable labeling on the circuit breaker panel, we wanted to make sure there were not some hidden problems -- so Sundog checked out a couple of other things in unit too at my request. Since my tenant has two small children, using a professional electrician for this job gave me some extra peace of mind. Even if I figured out it was just some loose wires, I would have always wondered (and worried) that I missed something.
Description of Work: GFCI circuits in bathrooms were not working. As landlord, I made sure of the obvious things (i.e., that tenant had hit reset buttons and reset circuit breakers).

One among many contractors identified from Angie's List and after many calls and estimates. Brian (the owner) provided immediate and exact (significantly less expensive) price over the phone, unlike most who hedged for various reasons (high ceiling). Showed up on time with assistant Ryan and proceeded quickly with confidence to work on both fans at the same time. The speed at which they accomplished the installation of both fans was amazing. Brian was a little surprised by the special request to use his ladder to install a couple bicycle hoists in the high ceiling of the garage (he's an electrician), but was totally accommodating and like the task of installing the fans was very fast at reading the instructions and slamming the hoists into the garage ceiling. At the same time we said "hey, can you also take a look at moving an outlet in the bathroom," so while Brian was installing the hoists Ryan removed the old, cut, installed and rewired the new outlet. Both Brian and Ryan finishing at about the same time. In conclusion, not only will you get what you ask for at a totally fair price with no surprises, but Brian and his assistant electrician Ryan are friendly and helpful guys with an attitude to do a good job leaving you, their customer happy. Obviously they succeeded with us. Bottom line is that these guys are really good at what they do and can use us as a reference anytime.
Description of Work: 1) Replaced ceiling fan in 18 foot living room. 2) Installed ceiling fan in bedroom. 3) Relocated electrical outlet in bathroom. 4) Special request to use ladder and install 2 bicycle hoists in garage.

He purchased the extra equipment needed in advance, at his expense, and was very professional, reliable and punctual. For under $1000, I can go "off the grid" (my goal) whenever I want.
Description of Work: I purchased a generator last year which Brian installed and hooked into our homes electrical circuit box. He spent a lot of time explaining all of our options, and set it up so that we flick a switch if there is a power failure and we then have power to our TVs, computers, refrigerator, freezer, AC and heat. A great professional job!

We called Sundog because of how well they were rated on Angie's List. We had a power problem with our bedroom electric line. Occasionally when we turned on either the bedroom closet light or the bedroom light it would cause the breaker to trip shutting down electricity to the entire bedroom area. They responded very quickly to our call, came out, diagnosed the problem and solved the problem very efficiently. I would certainly recommend their services to anyone looking for a good electrician and expect to call them for any need wish may arise in the future.

Brian provided expert advice and a very reasonable quote. He also gave us good suggestions on best locations for outlets to power a planned spa as well as how to overcome some funky building barriers which are impeding our ability to install new outlets in our garage. Brian's helper, Ryan, was quiet but efficient, and we were impressed with this team's knowledge, efficiency and follow-up. One final story. Another company required Brian to remove the old meter on the panel so it could be replaced with a new digital reader after the job passed inspection. Since we were not home to allow access, Brian let us know he was coming to the house to tend to this job. He had to use the side gate which was pretty rickety and hard to open and close. Our bonus--when we got home, not only had Brian removed the meter, left the place nice and tidy, but our gate was fixed as well. Just a few long screws did the job--but what a nice surprise! We will definitely use Sundog's services in the future. In fact, Brian is working up a quote for an additional outlet on the front of the house and some work on our back deck as well.

Excellent. I called to receive a quote. He answered all my questions on the fans and remotes and gave me a quote on the additional circuit. We set up an appointment for the install. Brian was on time. Work was professional and I could not be happier. I then asked if he had time to quote me another job at another house. And he did. Again, giving me all options and cost effective options. I wish all people ran their business the way that Brian does.

Brain and his assistant Ryan were fantastic! Extremely professional, very friendly, and a fantastic value. I have dealt with a lot of electricians and contractors in my time and these guys blow them all away in service, quality, and congeniality. You can't go wrong hiring these guys to do a job.

Excellent, would never call anyone else again for electric needs! We did not know Brain and did not have a family or friend recommend Brain I found him and based my decision to call from the Angie's List. If you are thinking of calling Brain please feel free to have Brian give you my phone number and I will talk to you about his service. Also I am very picky according to many contractors due to my bad past experience with unprofessional work. I am very picky and also my husband has been in the construction business so I know what to expect. I have very high standards for work ethics and Brian Sears proved to be a shining star. Don't delay give him a call I promise you will be very surprised how different a honest, caring, bright and professional feels compared to the others!
Description of Work: Contacted owner yesterday for a electrical issue regarding my kitchen appliances. I purchased a new double oven and the electric needed to be upgraded. I called several electrical companies for ideas regarding what needed to be done and price. The 1st company (in business many years) told me it would be a min of three hours. The 2nd company (in business many years as well) office staff told me they did not know about Angie's List when I inquired. Then I hung up and she called back to tell me yes they were on Angie's List and would not charge me a trip charge, however when I first called there was no mention of a discount. So I was very unhappy that they would do this to anyone. Charge one price for one type of customer and because I wanted to know if they were on Angie's List they thought they were not. Then they used caller ID and called me back to offer me a discount. This was very unprofessional to me. So getting back to Sundog, I called yesterday and the owner Brian Sears answered his phone and talked to me about what might be done. He arranged to come out in the morning. The arranged time was to be at 8 a.m. Being that all my life I am used to contractors and other home repair workers always late, also having a couple major repair and remolding jobs, my experience has been awful with the time they "say" they will be out. Brian, from Sundog was early! 12 minutes early. I even greeting Brian and his very nice assistant and said, "oh you are on time", then I looked at clock and said "no wait you are EARLY!" Services provided were changing out electric. I was told by a couple electricians that they would have to run new boxes/ power to my boxes perhaps without even seeing the job. Brian came out and even used our product without trying to "sell" us his material. He did not need to run electric out and thus saved us money, but we did not know what was needed. A shady electrician could perhaps made us feel as though we needed to do more work. Brain was very professional along with his assistant. We also asked about many other projects that we needed to have done around our home, even our Christmas over use of lights. Brian talked to us for over an hour without even charging us for anything. He charged us to repair and install our issue only $50 and he was at our home for around one and half hours. Total cost and professionalism was outstanding.

Brian the owner and his assistant, Ryan were on time. They cut the holes in the ceilings for two fans, assembled the fans, since there was no existing wiring, they also installed the wiring for both fans. They installed the fans, made sure all worked properly. They were very neat in covering surfaces so as to not get dirty from sheet rock dust. They were very professional and cleaned up everything and even vacuumed afterwards. Brian and Ryan are two of the kindest professionals and you would welcome them in your home.

Called back the evening after my call for an estimate. I described the situation and Brian was able to provide an estimate over the phone. He arrived on time (maybe a minute or two before). Very friendly, brought his apprentice. Went right to work, basically done with everything (including changing the battery on the smoke detector on the cathedral ceiling at my request) in about an hour. Very efficient, very personable. Then swept and vacuumed the debris. Loaded up the ladder and was out of the house. Even my dogs (who are very protective) liked Brian and Ryan; didn't bark at them at all! I plan to use these guys for any electrical work in the future. They are fantastic!!!

We called Sundog to make some repairs identified by a home inspector. We knew that we needed the fuse box and major wiring to the house checked and likely repaired. Brian spent a good amount of time looking at everything and actually talked me out of unnecessary work. He also fixed non-functioning outlets, swapped out fixtures, and checked to be sure that older wiring was not still live. Brian was great about our need to reschedule, showed up on time, finished everything in one day, and suggested great ideas to achieve the results that I wanted when my house's structure did not allow for a quick fix. Very professional, competent, and skilled.

Brian always returned my calls and promptly arrived at scheduled times. He is up to date on the newest products and helped me, as I was acting as my own contractor, choose my under cabinet lighting and plug strips for my kitchen remodel. He and Ryan, his assistant worked calmly and in a timely fashion. They also went out of their way to clean up all debris. They even took off their shoes to protect my newly finished hardwood floors! What a pleasure to have a smile on my face and pure admiration for their work after they left during a sometimes tense remodel!
Description of Work: I totally gutted, remodeled and redesigned my kitchen including taking down a wall. Brian initially moved and set up all the electrical wiring for my future appliances and under cabinet lighting and also removed ceiling recessed lighting. When my cabinets were installed he returned to install electrical outlets in my island and for my appliances. When the appliance installers arrived they were extremely pleased with the location of all the electric outlets and connections and installation went smoothly. When I decided on my under cabinet lighting, over cabinet lighting, angled under cabinet plug strips and pendant lights Brian returned to install them, He also replaced a faulty GFCI in my bathroom and installed three new brass floor outlets in my living room and dining room which look great. Ryan, Brian's assistant, is also competent, courteous and fastidious.
