The technician was conversational and fast paced. He wasadmittedly in a hurry. He efficiently did his job. I should have asserted myself and asked him to remove theoutside cage of the exterior unit to wash off any cottonwoodseeds and other botanical debris.
Description of Work: The service requested was to check out my central a/c as a routine prep for Summer. The Technician checked out (gauged/tested) the following: - thermostat - coolant effectiveness - filter - temperature differential between air intake and air emitted - cleanliness of the unit in the house and of the unit outside of the house The technician replaced my filter and supplied 2 more. The technician blew clean the unit in the house and the one outside the houseThe technician informed me of the reading of the gauged coolant and assured me that I did not yet need to replenish it with the expensive recycled coolant

No detailed story, just quick, reliable complete servicing of my AC units. Provided information on my 21 year old furnaces that will help me when I decide to replace them. No hard sell, just information, which I appreciate. I will definitely let them give me an estimate when I decide to replace the units.

Came out to our house and gave us an estimate. Noticed our heater was 34 yrs old and couldn't handle the high powered air conditioner. The team of three came over on the appointed day and time and worked for almost 12 hrs. They didn't leave until the job was completely finished. They were courteous and respectful. We had air conditioning by the end of the day! Came back a week later to check on the equipment and to run tests to make sure we qualified for a refund from the energy company as promised. We are very happy we chose them.

They were very professional in explaining everything they were doing to the furnace. On a side note they were the first company that didn't plaster stickers all over my furnace, water heater, and humidifier.
Description of Work: They were able to replace my furnace motor the next day for the lowest price. The price of replacing the motor covered the cost of a full cleaning service on my furnace. Most companies wanted to charge an extra $50-70 to clean the furnace.

Got back from vacation today 3/21/12, and the house was cold. Furnace wasn't working, we did a self check using the internet and kind of figured it might be the igniter, but we wern't sure. We couldn't see a crack or anything, but the igniter wouldn't glow red. So we called Quality West at 4:30 in the afternoon and they made a special trip to fix our furnace at 7:00 p.m. Thank you so much Rob for making us warm! Thank you for your quick response!

We had a furnace fail on us over a week-end. By Sunday night when we returned from a day out the house was 54 degrees. I emailed Quality West Heating and Cooling via Angie's List asking them to contact me on Monday. They actually called on Sunday to make sure that it was ok to wait until Monday because they could come out Sunday night. We decided to have them come out , around midnight, and they saw found that it was a microchip issue so they could not fix it that night. We ended up ordering a new furnace and humidifier that night and they had it installed and up & running the next day. Rob told me that the new furnace would constantly blow air which would help keep all of our rooms warmer. He was right, my kids' rooms are much more temperate.

We never got anything done by them but we thought that they were pretty good though. We thought the guy that came out did a really nice job explaining it to us. They were very informative and they explained the differences. We had about three or four guys out. Some of them explained things well and some of them didn’t. We thought that these guys did a nice job of explaining things to us. They tried to make the system fit the house and not worry about what our budget was. We will consider using their services again in the future.

I called on the November 16th and was able to get an appointment on the same day! Now that's what I call service. I was concerned about my furnace because of a small noice I was hearing. When Rob arrived and we talked about the noice, he had an idea about what it might be, but reserved opinion until after inspecting. After the inspection, he pulled the motor out and discovered that the blower motor bearings were loose and that the motor would need to be replaced...in the future, and gave me his honest opinion about how long that might be. He did not try to pressure me into replacing the motor immediately, or buying a new furnace, and I found that quiite honest and refreshing, as I believe a lot of companies would have had different sales tactics to use on me as I am a single female. Sharing that piece of information with the readers, Rob treated me with respect and was very professional at all times, and I very much appreciated the fact that he went out of his way to explain things to me...even to the point of showing me how to do my own minor maintenance in order to avoid a service call in the future! Now, ladies, I don't know about you, but typically, that's not how I've been treated by technicians...so, I was duly impressed with this gentleman and his willingness to share his expertise and inform! His honesty and proessionalism are above reproach by my standards and I can highly recommend this company and will be using them again in the future! Thank you Rob for your inegrity and honesty; and Qaulity West Heating & Cooling for a job well done!
Description of Work: Rob, the service technician performed a furnace tune-up and inspection per a 28-point inspection list. He not only tuned the furnace and performed the inspection, but went, in my opinion, out of his way to explain what he was doing and why (i.e., for example, checking the blower and the gas pressure, how & why to inspect, & clean the falme proving sensor, etc.). He also explained different types of furnace filters to me and why some are more efficient then others-I never knew! The blower was adjusted for better efficiency and I will say that has made a great deal of difference! All I can say is, why wasn't that done when I had the furnace installed initially...6 years ago! My bad for not having my furnace inspected prior to now. This was the best $54.00 I have ever spent in terms of service and what I learned from the technician.

Rob and team were fantastic. I bid this boiler replacement out to three companies. Not only did Rob provide the best price, he also proviced the best responses to my questions and committment levels. As such, I chose Quality West Heating and Cooling to replace my boiler and take out the old Heatmaker system (including tanks). Rob completed the job timely and efficiently and executed on all of his plans and promises. Thanks Rob
Description of Work: Rob took out my old Heatmaker boiler and installed a high efficiency boiler. He cut out the old boiler along with the solar tank, which the basement had been built around (i.e. it was to large to take out the door and had to be cut in pieces.)

I used an Angie's List "Big Deal" coupon to have them come over and do a furnace service call. They checked the connections, blew out and cleaned out necessary parts, checked emissions, performed overall maintenance for the upcoming winter season. Made suggestions about how to improve and update my system and gave me exact prices of suggested services, should I choose to pursue them. Told me that the service call charge would be applied to the installation and cost of new furnace if I chose to purchase one through them. They are a small, husband and wife operation and were extremely friendly and customer-oriented. I found the husband to be polite and helpful. He says his wife operates the business/scheduling side of things and he performs the service calls. If I decide to get a new furnace, I would definitely go through this company to do it. I was very pleased with the experience and would highly recommend them to others.

These guys were truly exceptinal. They arrived exactly on time, after calling ahead to let me know they were on their way. When they got here one took off his boots, the other used booties to keep my carpets clean. They got right to work and were happy to answer all sorts of questions. I'm newly responsible for running a household and had lots of them. One of the things I asked was how to turn the furnace off so I could install a programmable thermostat. About half way through their job one of the guys came up and encouraged me to let him install the thermostat - that way they would know I wouldn't have any trouble with it. They were happy to teach me about my furnace, my air conditioner and gave me some guidance about other maintenance steps I need to take. I would ABSOLUTELY use them again. So much so that I signed a service contract for maintaining both the furnace and my air conditioner for the next two years. That's why the visit was more than the $55 it would have been for the single cleaning.
Description of Work: We scheduled a furnace tune-up, they ended up also installing a programmable thermostat.

Rob serviced and then repaired my furnace. Another contractor had been sent out buy our insurance carrier 5 times, yes 5 times, to fix our furnace. After 5 tries the other contractor not only did not fix the fan in the furnace, but wired stuff up wrong and the end result was reduced heating all of last winter and now damage to the limiter switch that needs replacing. Rob cleaned and then repaired the fan control, after I downloaded the wiring diagram off of the internet for him. He showed me how to replace the limiter switch and even called ahead to a parts dealer for me to pickup the broken part.

Rob called to say that he was on his way. He arrived on time without my having to provide directions. He worked through the check points advertised, made some adjustments, explained what he was doing along the way, made some suggestions on making my furnace work better and last longer, and was on his way in very little time (easily under an hour).
Description of Work: This service call was an Angie's List Big Deal. Rob (the owner) performed my furnace check-up and service. He explained that another technician had been scheduled for my service, but that that technician had been tied up on another call, so Rob was there to meet my appointment. Rob was very professional and courteous and took time to explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. He made several suggestions to me so that I may get better performance and a longer life from my furnace. I have a few furnace service calls in the past and none of those other technicians took the time to explain what they were doing or to make suggestions on how I might extend the life and performance of my furnace. I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing Rob or one of his other technicians again in the Spring.

I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal for $54 to get my furnace inspected, tuned up and cleaned. Quality West’s technician Rob F. came to my home on 10/5/11 to perform this service. He was in the crawl space under my home for about 5 minutes, then came up to tell me that my furnace was leaking CO, carbon monoxide, and that the furnace needed to be replaced. He did not check for CO inside the house, only in the crawl space. He gave me a bid to replace the furnace for $1,900 to $3,800, less the $54 I had already paid. In the written recommendations he stated: “Found furnace with damage to flue pipe, heat exchanger, TDM [or IDM] assorted cracks in face plate. We recommend replacement as this furnace is not safe to operate at this time.” I contacted several other heating contractors (obtained from Angie’s List) and arranged to get more evaluations and bids on either repair or replacement of my furnace. I completed this process with two other contractors. Both of them stated that the flue was badly rusted and several other parts needed replacing, but that the flue and the furnace could be repaired. They both stated that the CO that Rob F. had found in the crawl space was almost certainly leaking from the flue, not the furnace. They tested for CO inside the house and did not find any at all. I arranged for Custom Heating & Air, Inc. to perform the repairs. There was no CO leakage after the flue was repaired. Quality West has agreed to repay me the $54 I paid for the furnace tune-up, since that was never completed by them. I also asked them to explain why their technician failed to check the CO inside the house and why he immediately recommended that the furnace be replaced without a much more thorough evaluation. The following is part of their reply, which I don’t agree with, especially the short “Equipment service life”: “In regards to your concern about the technician's recommendations, please see the attached chart we use as company policy to determine when a technician should recommend repair or replacement (chart is also available on our website). When a furnace is past its Equipment Service Life, and in this situation your furnace falls in this category due to its age (20+ years) and condition, we feel it to be in our customer's best interest to offer replacement equipment rather than costly repairs for a system that is likely to be completely inoperable sooner than later. By replacing significantly aged equipment such as yours, one can expect to have increased efficiency, lower energy bills, and overall increased comfort in their home.”
Description of Work: This was an Angie's Big Deal for a furnace tuneup and cleaning. This was not performed - explained below. They did agree to repay me the $54.
