I recently had an issue with my laptop after returning from a trip where I think logging into a hotels wifi caused my computer to crash. Michael and the crew at PC ANSWERS were able to diagnose and fix the problem quickly. Then when I was unable to pick it up during business hours he was more than willing to make other arrangements to get it back to me asap, even offering to drop it off for me at my business location. It's good to know that I have a place I can trust next time I need help with my computer issues. I think it was a good value for my money spent and the work was done in a quick time frame.

Once again PC Answers came to the rescue when my hard drive died. I was so surprised because the hard drive was only two years old. I was happy to pay the rush fee and move to the head of the line. I brought my two external hard drives in to the shop along with my computer. Michael and Chris had it up and running and I was able to pick it up the next day! They are the best!
Description of Work: Replaced hard drive and uploaded two external hard drives on a rushed order.

I took it in there, and they said since I had 2 floppy drives that I could use the other one. They said that if I wanted it repaired, that they could do it though. They are very honest, and fair. I have taken some other my other computers here before as well. I bought a used computer from them about 10 years ago, and it is still running. They are a small business, and consist of around 3 employees.
Description of Work: I had problems with my floppy drive, and they fixed it.

Since we moved into the area recently, I had to find a PC service company. PC Answers has a straightforward approach, worked on my PC when they said they would (in less than 2 days), called me when they knew the extent of the problem to get my OK for the next step, fixed the problem, loaded some software and options for me, and answered my (many) questions. All for the flat fee they quoted me when I called. Very knowledgeable and down-to-earth. I think I found my PC service company.
Description of Work: I had very malicious malware on my laptop. PC Answers removed it, wiped the hard drive and re-loaded my operating system.

I called PC Answers on Tuesday, June 25 and described the problems I was having with my 6 year old laptop. The computer would not shut down when tried to shut it down, I had to manually hold the power switch in to shut the computer down. Sunday, June 23, and Monday, June 24 when I booted up the laptop, there were loud grinding noises from the laptop and I had to shut it off and turn it back on three times to finally get it to boot up. I thought it might be the hard drive beginning to fail and when I described the problems Steve at PC Answers said it sounded like the hard drive was going out. Steve told me that if I brought my laptop in he would take a look at it and if it was the hard drive, they had laptops in stock with Windows 7 installed. I did want Windows 7 for sure if I needed a new laptop. I took the computer in on Tuesday afternoon, June 25 at 1:30 pm and we decided I did in fact need a new computer. I told John at PC Answers that I would be in that area on Friday, June 28 and I hoped the new computer would be set up by then. He said they were pretty swamped, but he would make sure the new computer would be ready by Friday noon. I received a phone call from Cathy Hogan, Operations Manager at PC Answers, at 1:45 pm on Wednesday, June 26, and she told me my new laptop was loaded with my old files and was ready to be picked up. I was very, very surprised that it was ready that quickly. I did tell Cathy that I would still pick it up Friday, June 28 and she said that would be fine. Friday, June 28 I picked my computer up at 12:30 pm at PC Answers and John Hogan, whom I spoke with, told me if I had any questions or problems to call them and they would help me. John told me of course there would not be a charge for the help on the phone if I needed it. I brought the laptop home and it has worked perfectly and I could not be more happy with the computer and especially with Cathy Hogan, Steve, and John Hogan at PC Answers. I will most definitely go to PC Answers for all of my computer needs. It is so refreshing to have a business that does believe in customer service.
Description of Work: I was sold a new laptop computer with Windows 7 because the hard drive in my old laptop was beginning to fail. The folks at PC Answers loaded all software including MS Office and transferred all of the files from my old computer to the new laptop.

See above. Not much else to say. It always goes great. He is much more patient than I am, and always gets to the bottom of the computer problem.
Description of Work: I've used PC Answers for years, and John is extremely knowledgeable about computers. He has cleaned up my computers and also has rescued then from the brink when the anti-virus company I was using sent files that gave me blank screens on both my desktop and laptop. I even bought my current desktop computer from him, and it has lasted more years than it probably should have! He is prompt, reliable, and a really nice guy, to boot. And, his prices can't be beat! I'm guessing at the service date, above, but realized that I never actually reviewed him on Angie's List before, and I've used PC Answers many times, both onsite at my home and in the service center.

We had hired a computer tech person to come to our home and set up our new computer and wireless router. The transfer of data was one of the main reasons that we had someone else do the set up for us. After three and half hours of dilly-dallying around the tech finally started the data transfer...at four hours he was ready to leave so he told us that he couldn't complete the data transfer and we should just download our Carbonite back-up. I called PC Answers to find out how much it would cost to have them fix/complete what the other company didn't do and was pleasantly surprised that it was $50, no matter how much data we had. We were able to drop off our equipment right away and in less than two days they finished and we were ready to go. I wish that we had used them from the beginning of the process--we would have saved a lot of money and been much less frustrated with the process!!
Description of Work: Transfer of data from our old hard drive to our new computer.

Our computer suddenly started doing bizarre things. Periodically my husband and I could get on and get some work done, then it would crash and we couldn't get it back online again. We got real familiar with the blue and white screen of death and black & white recovery page. After a while we gave up on diagnosing it ourselves and took it to PC Answers. Their initial diagnostics showed no problems and they just did a tune up. However, when we brought it home and had the same bad issues, we called them back. Without hesitation, they told us to bring it back in and they would run more diagnostics on it and to bring in the keyboard and mouse, and they would give us top priority. By the next day, the more advanced diagnostics had found some bad memory and a short in the mouse. We appreciated their prioritizing our computer when it was obvious there was still a problem, plus there was no further charge. We would take our computer back there any time for service.
Description of Work: Computer tune up, replacement of faulty memory, diagnosed short in mouse.

I was very satisfied with PC Answers. They responded quickly - the same day - and seemed to have my best interests in mind.
Description of Work: My Dell laptop was making noises, seemed like the fan was going out. I took it to PC Answers and they confirmed that the fan had a bad bearing and that it would be about $200 parts and labor to repair it. They suggested that given the age of the laptop that it was not worth the repair costs and suggested that a chiller mat ($25 - $40) would solve the problem inexpensively. They normal sold the chiller mats, but did not have one in stock at the time. They evaluated the laptop and recommended the solution at no charge.

They were really good. There was a quick turnaround and they were prompt. I had braced myself for the bill, but it was very reasonably priced. I was happy and would use them again.
Description of Work: They worked on our computer. They thought it may have been a virus, but it was actually a hardware problem, which they diagnosed properly. They performed a tune-up as well.
