Description of Work: Patriot Painting was supposed to paint siding and trim on our addition to match the existing house which Patriot repainted for us 3 years ago. Weather was certainly a challenge schedule wise, but when they did show up, they did a lousy job, have not finished, and will not return my phone calls or emails. Work was started March 30 and as of 2:30 pm on April 6, I cannot get any response from Patriot. Some of the key poor quality issues, besides being non responsive are: - Their crew leader fell off the only ladder they brought and spilled paint all over the new patio. It is still there. - As noted they brought only 1 ladder for 4 painters. Fortunately my other contractor had extra ladders they could use. - Their proposal was for 2 coats, they barely have 1 coat on and in many places you can actually see the primer through that 1 coat - The lines from trim to siding are very unprofessional, not straight, paint drips and splatter. - They were so inexperienced, some of the painters used the lids from old paint cans I had to put the new paint on to paint from.

Description of Work: I was impressed by the reviews this provider has earned and the value offered in this deal. I have purchased a 50 year old home that requires a great deal of maintenance as it has been a bit neglected in recent years. At the time that I purchased the voucher I had concluded from 2 estimates that I would not be able to afford a more maintenance free treatment on the exterior trim and I was going to be hiring painters. Over the following weekend I was given a very attractive bid for the full package including gutters and we have decided to get this installed instead. This refund is being requested due to no fault with the vendor, it is simply a case of a subsequent alternative being a better option for my home.

Description of Work: Painted exterior of home. Did a fair job on most of it, but did'nt cover well in spots. Gave an estimate of $2700 for painting, Deal was $1299 for $2500 dollar paint job. Tried to charge me an extra $400 after all was through. Said estimate had to be adjusted for the Angies list deal. I didn't go for it.

Response from Patriot Painting Professionals Inc
In 2012 we offered an Angie's List Big Deal for $1,299.00. As any reasonable person may surmise, a deal of this cost would have fairly strict limitations. This customer's home was bigger than the scope of the Big Deal. It was also in terrible shape and needed lots of prep work. We explained this to the customer. He agreed and he signed a new contract that clearly stated the adjusted price (which was still far below what would have been bid without the Big Deal). When the job was complete he refused to pay the adjusted amount. He had an opportunity to back out of the deal before work began and get a refund from Angie's List BEFORE work began. But he decided to move forward and had our painters work. When the project was complete he refused to pay the agreed price NOT because he was dissatisfied with the work (we still have a copy of his signed Final OK). We had the ability to take legal action but felt that it was not worth our time to pursue such a small matter and that may provoke an angry response. Today, we are intensely disappointed at the attitude and disparaging remarks of this customer. It is for this reason that Patriot Painting will no longer offer any Big Deals in the future. We encourage any potential customer to scroll through the dozens of positive reviews we have accumulated from honestly good work and balance judgment appropriately.

THIS REPORT IS VERY MUCH DESERVING OF A RESPONSE. THE SITUATION DEVELOPED AS FOLLOWS: ON THE MORNING WORK WAS TO BEGIN, IT BEGAN DRIZZLING. THE CREW HAD ONLY THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRESSURE-WASH THE HOME. THE CREW LEADER SPOKE TO THE HOMEOWNER (THE HUSBAND) ABOUT THE WEATHER AND HOW IT WOULD BE INADVISABLE TO CONTINUE. THE HUSBAND AGREED. THE CREW, HAVING RECEIVED APPROVAL BY THE HUSBAND, LEFT DUE TO THE WEATHER. THIS ACT AGITATED THE WIFE (WHICH FOR SOME REASON WAS ALREADY UPSET) TO A HIGHLY EXAGGERATED DEGREE. AS I SPOKE TO THE HUSBAND VIA PHONE, EXPLAINING THE INADVISABILITY OF CONTINUING, I HEARD THE WIFE IN THE BACKGROUND VERY MUCH OUT OF CONTROL: SCREAMING EXPLETIVES, UNABLE TO CONTROL HER TEMPER. I, OF COURSE, OFFERED TO RETURN THE CREW IMMEDIATELY AND PROCEED IN ANY WAY THEY WISHED. AND, BEING CONFUSED ABOUT THE EXTENT OF HER REACTION TO THE CREW DEPARTING, I OFFERED ALSO TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY A FURTHER YEAR. THE HUSBAND SEEMED UNABLE TO CONTROL HIS WIFE'S EMOTIONAL TIRADE AND ASKED TO CALL ME BACK. AT THE SECOND CONVERSATION, THINGS SEEMED TO HAVE CALMED DOWN WHEN SUDDENLY THE WIFE GOT ON THE LINE AND AGAIN BEGAN SHOUTING HORRIBLE EXPLETIVES, CURSES, ACCUSATIONS, AND THREATS. AGAIN, THE EXAGGERATED REACTION CONFUSED ME AND I FOR A MOMENT THOUGHT SOMETHING ELSE MAY HAVE HAPPENED. AFTER INTERVIEWING THE CREW AND THE HUSBAND, HOWEVER, I REACHED THE CONCLUSION THAT NOTHING ELSE HAD OCCURRED. THE SIMPLE ACT OF THE CREW DEPARTING DUE TO THE WEATHER HAD TRIGGERED SOMETHING PSYCHOLOGICAL IN THIS CUSTOMER. PATRIOT PAINTING PAINTS MANY, MANY HOMES EVERY YEAR. OUR GOAL, EVERY TIME, IS TO PROVIDE THE BEST AND MOST HONEST SERVICE WE CAN. I WOULD ENCOURAGE ANY POTENTIAL CUSTOMER TO REVIEW AND PERSONALLY CONTACT EACH OF OUR PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS. A GREAT MAJORITY OF ANGIE'S LIST CUSTOMERS WE HAVE FOUND TO BE DECENT, HONEST AND TRUST-WORTHY PEOPLE. ANY INTELLIGENT PERSON KNOWS THAT THIS DOES NOT EXTEND, OF COURSE, TO 100% OF THE POPULATION. OUTSIDE OF PRESSURE-WASHING THE HOME (FREE OF CHARGE), NO WORK WAS DONE, CONTRARY TO HER REPORT. DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY SIGNED THE CONTACT, WE DID NOT AND WILL NOT PURSUE LEGAL ACTION. NO MONIES WERE CHARGED OR PAID (SHE CLAIMS SHE PAID TOO MUCH). SHE ADVISES NOT TO TRUST THE OTHER REPORTS. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY. Crew arrived on time, was very courteous, professional,detail-oriented,friendly, and clean. The project coordinator communicated regularly throughout the project and kept me informed from beginning through end. The replacement of trim-wood was also done very professionally. The bid was the best out of the other two bids and the quality of the work was excellent. I'm happy to recommend them to anyone I know.
Description of Work: Exterior paint in three colors of two story home approximately 2500sf: body, trim, and accent colors. Included, powerwash, caulking, scraping, some wood replacement, and painting of window shutters, and front door.
