Family owned, do not use sub-contractors, all work done in house with own employees, invoiced upon completion of work and payment due upon completion of work
Dreadful. A year-long homeowner's nightmare. Especially for a BBB member / "A"-rated company. A comedy of errors except that it was in no way funny for Kudu Roofing to continue to a) send incompetent workers with b) no, or minimal supervision, c) unexpectedly, d) over-and-over again to the house, further walking on the sensitive tile roof, leaving debris in the yard or damaging lawn and plants, e) certifying that the roof work was completed satisfactorily when no physical, final inspection even took place, and f) OFFERING NO FINANCIAL RECOMPENSE OR APOLOGIES.
Description of Work: Kudu Roofing Timeline re: house roof repair September 2009 - Requested estimate from Kudu Roofing for repair of 25-year old tile house and garage (Inspection fee $250). Only visible area of concern for homeowner was water damage on east rafter. October 2009 - Inspection completed. November 2009 - Written report (with documenting photos) provided. Estimate: $6080 (Inspection fee to be deducted if awarded work). Work authorized; start pending fair weather. Estimated completion time: 4 days. Kudu inspection fee invoice paid. January 2010 - Work commenced. Homeowner immediately reported language barrier with crew and concern about sloppy workmanship (application of overabundance of Flexim mortar as weather-blocker under hip ridge tiles where there was none applied originally). February 2010 – Received Kudu invoice for $5830. Professional mason working at residence comments on and inspects unorthodox application of Flexim. Advises immediate fix before Flexim hardens and caution when completing - now delicate - repair around tiles. Received Kudu Aging Statement. March 2010 – Requested 2nd opinion from roofer recommended by local tile distributor. $2200 to repair; $14,500 to replace roof. Roof certified as complete by Kudu Roofing. Shared blanked out bids with Kudu. Snow melt revealed that roof by east rafter was not fixed. Shared photos with Kudu. Tile distributor advises to allow Kudu right to cure. April 2010 – Received Aging Statement from Kudu. Requested further opinion from roofer who had bid on house in previous years. Response: Wouldn’t pay them for what has been done; would never allow them on the roof again. Requested 3rd party inspection from Kudu. Guy Mumford recommended Jim Ragsdale of RE/COR as tough. Seconded by tile distributor. Agreed to shared charge. Repair work failed inspection. Notified Kudu that aesthetics were also a concern. Kudu now needs to order more tiles. May 2010 - Replacement tiles ordered from manufacturer as homeowner's spare tiles were utilized in January. Kudu certified roof as complete for 2nd time. June 2010 – Kudu sent updated certification with select photos. Owner requested follow-up 3rd party certification. Roof failed 2nd RE/COR inspection. Kudu agreed to pick up cost of 2nd inspection. Additional new tiles arrive from manufacturer. Homeowner notes that new leak damage has appeared for first time ever inside home (upstairs bathroom ceiling). July 2010 – Roof repair work passed RE/COR inspection. Kudu agreed to pick up cost of 3rd inspection. Homeowner emailed Kudu list of remaining aesthetic areas of concern and suggests phone discussion. Kudu does not respond. August 2010 – Final email exchange re: status. No phone communication from Kudu. Homeowner contacts further roofer for repair estimate: Roof is “a mess”; can repair on Time & Materials basis only. Shared concern with tile distributor. Received Kudu Aging Statement. September 2010 – Received Kudu Aging Statement. Discussed roof with 4th roofing company who meets with Guy Mumford to review photos of damaged roof. Guy concedes that job is substandard and will not charge. New roofer agrees to repair roof.

same as above. It's terrible when a company makes it too much trouble for me to ask them to do their job. signed, bitter in Wheat Ridge
Description of Work: The salesman could not co-ordinate or evaluate price, contract and staff. Contract had to be hand-delivered on start date. Foreman kept leaving for other projects with no one left who spoke English, and the workers seemed frightened of the foreman. Finally one person left hammering on the roof in the Dark! to finish project. The roof failed inspection 3 times! I was finally so sick of them I failed to call them back when the roof leaked. Many other problems. really unnecessary stupidity.

They are an absolutely outstanding company. They go above and beyond what a roofing company could be. We couldn't use them because they were about $1,000 more than another company. We chose to go with another company that's on your list and weren't happy that we did.
Description of Work: They gave us an estimate on our roofing and gutters.

I cannot recommend Kudu highly enough. Their work is first rate and they were concerned about the impact of the project on our family and our budget throughout. They worked around our horses and went to the extreme to ensure that we were satisfied. We have had several unpleasant surprises regarding the roof on our home even though we had had the house inspected prior to purchase. Kudu has worked with us extensively to minimize the impact to our checkbook while providing top-quality work.
Description of Work: Alonzo and Leon from Kudu came to install a previously ordered skylight and to repair a section of the roof on our barn. The day before our appointment we noticed bulging paint in a corner of our living room and Kudu immediately addressed the problem and discovered a large roof leak that had been of longstanding in our recently purchased home. They immediately rearranged their schedules to repair the leak in advance of the approaching snowstorm. They returned to complete the less urgent repairs in an exemplary manner.
