Karl was great in the beginning. I had opened all the walls in the family room of my tri level and needed someone to remedy the electrical before putting up drywall. The original owner had a fetish with electrical outlets and had 14 of them among two rooms, all of which were six inches too high. Karl changed all of them out and also removed the excessive ones so that I now have eight total. He also had an idea of adding an electrical box above the gas fireplace for an LCD TV by running electrical behind one of the walls and then covering it with wire moulding. This last part was presented to me on the day of the original install and he did not quote a price. He was able to change out the light switches and electrical boxes in one day and added the electrical line for the wire moulding. Then he instructed me to put up the drywall and give him a call to finish the job. Being my first time drywalling, it took a few months until I was done and called him. Looking back, he had probably given up on me due to time but when I called he did come out to put the covers on the electrical boxes and also brought wire moulding for me to paint. He said to give him a call when the wire moulding was painted and he would come out to put it up. We then squared up on the final payment. As you can imagine, after he received final payment he never returned my calls about the wire moulding, thus leaving me with a wire hanging out of a wall for over a year until I had a different electrician finish the job. It's really sad because I had told him there were plenty of other electrical jobs that needed to be done and he would have been the one I called had he been up front about the wire moulding situation i.e. quoting a price, writing a separate contract. As a brand new home owner, Karl was the first contractor I ever dealt with and he took advantage of my naivete. That's not the type of integrity I would expect from someone who used to be an executive at a major electric company.
