We had all of our baseboards removed and majority of the flooring up from the main floor, as we were going to get hardwood put in after painting. The painters were there right on time, which was very impressive as other contractors we have hired for different projects seem to not be on time and do not even take time to call and let us know. The painters were polite and seemed to listen to our directions. We explained that the floor was all being replaced downstairs but that the carpet on stairs and upstairs where they painted the foyer was not being replaced. The owner (LB) had asked me to take out all the nails/screws that I didn't want to have anymore but leave any nails in that I wanted to rehang something with. When the painters started prepping I heard loud banging and came out of my office and he was pounding in my anchors for some shelves (which I left on the wall because I planned on rehanging the shelves); then the painter went on to tell me that he decided to take all the nails out around the house. At this point he had already done it so I didn't say anything and figured I'll just have to rehang everything. We had all the furniture out except a kitchen table, a recliner and a baby swing. When I came back they had moved our recliner (which was purposely left inside) and the baby swing to the garage. When we went to move the chair back inside we saw they had torn the leather and got paint on the chair. I got a quote which was about $200 and after telling me the guys swear they did not touch my chair (which is a blatant lie on their behalf) LB sent me a check for $200. The first night after they finished painting found paint on the wood trim around house and on the carpet and places that were missed and you could see the old color through. There was also a hole in the wall behind the front door that had been made by them after they had painted. I called LB and he had the guys come right back out and touch up the areas and "clean the carpet" and fix the hole. I explained to them that- I had not looked around yet but these issues were noticed by my husband. They touched up paint, rubbed our carpet (left big dark spots where they cleaned, but left other spots of paint on carpet), and patched the hole by putting a big flat spot on the wall with the putty and told me I can sand and it paint it later. After inspecting more I found paint on almost every door frame and window frame throughout the main floor, including big drops and drips all the way down. Not only do our window sills have paint on them but our blinds have paint on them as well. Not to mention all the areas around the house that we can see the old color through. They misplaced screws when putting our outlet covers back on, which a month later I found in my silverware drawer! Those screws and nails that they took out of the walls that they weren't supposed to... They left them all over my floors! I have two young kids and they were well aware of that yet they still didn't even consider collecting the nails. There was also weird tan/brown chunks of something left all over the floor which appeared to be something fried (like fried chicken). My mom called LB because I was so frustrated and upset. He told her he would have the guys call her to schedule a time to come back out to the house. My mom never received a call from the guys or another call from LB. She had a voicemail from someone that she couldn't understand what they were saying and said something about 9 AM the next morning and that's the only possible call that she might've gotten from them. I left 3 messages over 3 weeks time for LB and finally heard back from him on the fourth week before I was about to call him again. He claimed he been leaving messages and calling my mom for the past couple weeks ...but that he was also out of town for the past couple weeks ...and that his guys had been calling her for the past couple weeks... His story changed each time he retold what's been happening. He told me he would have the guys come back out and fix everything but at this point I don't trust them back to my house;not to mention I have brand-new hardwood floors that there's no way I would allow these guys who had so little respect for my property to come back and paint again. LB told me he didn't know what to tell me and he's really sorry and he's never heard a complaint anything like this before. I told him I was really disappointed and that for as much money as I had to pay to have this house painted that I shouldn't be having to waste my time going back and repainting it so that the original colors not showing through and cleaning up his messes that he left, not to mention I'm not even sure how you actually get paint out of carpet. He offered me no resolution. Next time I will pay 2x as much to have a company that respects my property or I will spend my time painting my own house, as I would be neater/ more careful than they were.
