GARY'S DECKS

Called and left a message several days ago, and have heard nothing. Website promises much, but lack of response indicates not so much.

Great. Gary does a great job every year.

1- Gave Gary the color paint sample I wanted them to use it as a fresh paint. They used a different color and have to paint it over again, leaving an unwanted color. 2- The painters cleansed their brushes over my lawn, burning some portions of the nice grass.

Excellent. My deck looks new again. Gary was great and him and his partner were professional, courteous, and prompt. They showed up when they said and got the job done fast.

I was very impressed that Gary presented us with a written estimate at the first meeting. This estimate clearly listed what he intended to do and cost per square foot.He was knowledgeable about the process; gave us a rationale for why he wanted to use certain products.He showed up promptly as promised and completed the work in a timely manner.The price he charged was fair and reasonable.

I called Gary for a quote and he was able to come out within 24 hours. The pricing was sharp and I was lucky enough to be able to quickly react to an immediate opening in his schedule. Gary started the job within a day or 2 of the quote and completed the work very quickly. I was really appreciative that he was 100% focused on my deck for the few days it took to complete as compared to trying to work on 3 or 4 jobs at a time and taking much longer. He was a hard working funny character who my dog really loved (and that's saying something!). I will absolutely use Gary again to maintain the beautiful job he did on our deck.

Gary worked on our deck for the first time in 2012. He's a nice guy and does an adequate job; however, last year it was sometimes frustrating to get him to return phone calls. Despite the frustrations, we told him that we would consider using him for our annual deck refinishing. Since the overall experience was acceptable, we decided to have him do the work again this year. Attempting to communicate with Gary this year was a disaster. If he returned phone calls at all, it was days after we left a message for him. He finally called back one time and left us a message saying that "he would do the deck on Monday"; then, he neither showed up nor called to confirm as we requested. We haven't heard from him since. Customer-focus, good service, professionalism, responsiveness, and other critical components of an excellent customer experience are not in Gary's business portfolio. We won't use him again or recommend him to anyone.

I called to set up an appointment for an estimate on power washing and restaining our deck. I left a voice message, and he returned my call within 15 minutes. We set up an appointment for a few days ago, and that was the last I have heard from him. I called him the morning of the 2PM appointment to confirm, and left a voice mail. At 2PM, he was not there. I called him again, and have still, two days later, gotten a response. I wanted to try him in spite of reviews that described similar experiences, because I like to favor smaller businesses. My mistake there. I'm baffled how he has an "A" rating though, given that only 69% of the reviews are positive.

I contacted this company for deck maintenance multiple times. I sent an email, and called and left voice mails multiple times and never had my calls or email returned.

We contacted Gary a year ago and were very happy with his work and feel it has held up well and the deck still looks great. I was impressed with how meticulous his work was. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the work done and he uses high-quality products. We were very happy with his initial work and are using him for yearly maintenance because of that.

Gary arrived on time and was very nice and answered questions and gave a very good price quote. He was even ready to fit the work in during the upcoming week. I did seek out quotes from others in the Angie's List Deck Maintenance category and decided to go with someone else and I was very pleased with their work, so I would hire them again for future deck maintenance. But I did want to add a review out of thanks for the time to look at my deck and give me a quote for service.

I made an appointment with Gary to get an estimate on refinishing my deck. He did not show up for the appointment and did not call. I left two messages for him and he finally called two days later. I would not use him in the future.

He did a really good job. I would use him again.

Gary was easy to schedule and prompt with the service. He went over our deck 3 times with different grades of sandpaper. The deck has never looked better.

Everything was going great until Gary was injured. I'm writing this review to comment on Gary's follow up with me, even though he had just been released from the hospital after sustaining an injury. He called to let me know he would not be able to keep our appointment and let me know another contractor I could call to step in for him. We are disappointed that we will not get to work with Gary on this project, but know we will use him in the future. His attention to his clients even while dealing with a personal medical issue was impressive.

Gary was very professional. He was very timely with providing an estimate, was able to schedule the work quickly and showed up on time. He did a great job and our deck looks almost like new. Highly recommended.

Gary quickly responded to my request for a bid, and that was just the start of the excellent service he provided. Of three professionals that provided a bid, Gary was the only one who could tell that our deck was made of expensive redwood decking. While the other professionals offered to power wash the deck and apply a semi solid stain, Gary's plan included resetting the screws, sanding, and restraining the deck to restore its original beauty. The shocking part is that Gary's bid came in the lowest! ( The other bids ranged from $1200.00 to nearly $2000.00 for wash and paint.) Gary did the work himself, and we couldn't be happier. The deck looks beautiful and it is clearly the result of a knowledgable professional who worked hard to provide a quality outcome. We will be using Gary in the future to maintain our deck, and we will enthusiastically refer Gary's Decks to our friends and family.

I scheduled an appointment for a bid. It was raining at the time and Gary decided to just not show. No phone call. He never tried to reschedule. I called him to give him a second try as he looked like he would offer what I needed on the ad. He was gruff on the phone and tried to tell me any logical person would know he would not come in the rain. I should have understood. Very poor customer service. When he came to give me a bid, he would not remove the spindles and sand them, or he would have to charge me a lot of money to do this. He suggested not doing it. His demeanor was angry. I was unhappy with what he suggested and did not want him back to the house. I would not suggest his services. Sorry.

I called Gary and he gave me an estimate and took off $50.00 for being an Angie's List member. He came out the next day on time with another worker and was able to finish the job in one day. They worked very hard sanding the entire deck and then sealing it. It looks fabulous.

The price and quality of Gary's work is exceptional! The estimate I requested on 11/15/2010 was provided on 11/17/2010, and was very reasonable. Gary and his helper arrived right on time an, in spite of colder-than-forecasted weather, power-washed, sanded and sealed my redwood deck and stairs [260 sq. ft.] in one day. When I saw the quality of their work - for which Gary onored the $50.00 Off coupon - I gave him back $40.00 of that discount, because the work was well worth it. I plan to have Gary's Decks do the regular maintenance on my deck from now on!

The result was amazing! It looks better than it did when it was first built. Gary responded quickly to my call, and completed the job in a timely manner. We couldn't be happier with our "new" deck. I would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to restore their deck.

Our deck was very old and we hadn?t had done anything to it in over ten years. They did a great job and their price was in line with their quote. We were very pleased with their work.

Our 450 square foot redwood deck and benches had not been refinished since we had it built 15 years ago and was in need of attention. Gary and another employee did an outstanding job of refinishing. The deck now looks new. Prior to the job, Gary had provided a written estimate which we felt was reasonable. Now that the job is finished, we feel we definitely got our money's worth.

GARY DID A GOOD JOB CLEANING THE WOOD. THE WOOD WAS VERY DRY FROM THE WEATHER SO IT TOOK A LOT OF SEALER. IT NOW NEEDS IT AGAIN SO I WONDER IF HE USED ENOUGH COATS WHEN HE SEALED IT ONE YEAR AGO.
