+ -1 moreJames Ennis and his son came out to find and fix a leak. After about 20 minutes of searching for the source and doing some detective work, they were perplexed. James thought it might be the spigot, but the water leak didn't really fit with that because the water appeared away from the spigot itself. We decided to change the old spigot, but after even more detective work, James' son discovered that the leak was ground water coming up from under the garage floor. James did not have to say anything about it and he could have just replaced the spigot because he did not guarantee that that was the problem because of the odd way the water appeared. He'd already given himself an out in advance, but he did not take advantage of me. He was honest, and I am grateful for that. He wasn't gong to charge me anything for the visit, but I convinced him to let me pay him something. They'd figured out the problem after all. He told me that if I used him in the future that he would deduct the fee from whatever the cost of the job was! These are good people. Guess who I'm calling when I put in my laundry room sink. Thanks Ennis'! See you next time!

He was also happy to review other plumbing and provide feedback regarding time, effort and cost to upgrade. Mr. Ennis was very friendly, cleaned up after his work and he made a very stressful time go well.

He did what he said he would do and I felt his pricing was fair for a weekend call/service. I felt very comfortable with he and his son. His skills seems top-notch - I believe he mentioned he teaches plumbing. Overall, I was very pleased and would used him again.

He initially scheduled to have his son (who works with him) come by that evening, which I appreciated since I know our issue/job was likely going to be pretty small. Before his son came out, James followed up with me by phone and actually walked me through a couple of easy troubleshooting steps to try myself; hitting the reset button, which I had already checked, and then using an allen wrench to un-jamb the flywheel. As a result, we were able to fix the problem on our own and save a few $'s. Appreciated James' responsiveness and follow-up. While he did not end up coming out to do any work for us, would certainly not hesitate to call him when and if we have another plumbing issue/job

+ -1 moreHe tried to get the drain off and ended up breaking it off because he couldn't screw it off. He jumped on it, used a wrench, everything you can think of. Then he told me I needed a new water heater. I told him I wanted to do some research first. I called GE (the manufacturer) and they told me that he should have drained the water tank before attempting to take the valve off or else it was not going to come off. I sent them pictures of the damage and they said that he destroyed it so badly that there is no way it can be repaired. It is so destroyed that I can't drain the tank. So, basically, he broke the water heater to the point that it CAN'T be fixed and now he is trying to charge me $1,000 to get a new one when all I really needed was one part replaced! Revised Review of Ennis Plumbing LLC by [Member name removed] 4-19-2016 "James Ennis of Ennis Plumbing came to repair a leaky drain valve in my water heater on 3/17/2016. He tried everything he could to get the drain off, destroying it in the process. He did not open the valve and drain the water first. He then told me I needed to buy a new water heater and offered to put one in my house for $1,000. I told him I wanted to research it first. I called GE (the manufacturer) and they told me he should have drained the tank first before attempting to take the valve off or else it would never come off. I sent them pictures of the damage and they said that he destroyed it so badly there was no way it could now be drained or repaired. They said any competent plumber should know this. Basically, Mr. Ennis destroyed my water heater to the point that it can’t be fixed. At this point I raised a complaint with Angie’s List. I purchased a replacement heater from another source the next day. A few days later Mr. Ennis offered to put in a new water heater for me for free, however, I already had a new water heater and also would never trust him to safely install a gas appliance in my home after his previous performance. Through Angie’s List I asked him to pay for my new appliance, but he refused and didn’t make a counter offer. This was a terrible experience, and he made no amends for the damages he caused."

+ -1 moreWe thought the sprinkler system was off for the winter. It wasn't. Pipes froze and broke sending water up the side of the house where it froze. Not many plumbing companies were willing to come out the day after Thanksgiving, but James was. He said he could come out but he couldn't get there until about 3:30. Not a problem, just glad he was willing to come out. He called back a few hours later and asked if it was OK if he came out earlier. SURE! He came right out, along with his very polite son. What a nice man. He assured my sister that all would be fine through the rest of the winter. The fix could be done in the spring. We will call James to do the repairs when the weather warms.

I needed a very competent plumber to do all the plumbing necessary to support a full remodel of my master bathroom which includes a large steam shower with two complete shower valves. To make it more complex, we were changing where the shower and vanities would be placed so all the original plumbing would have to be terminated and all new plumbing installed. I interviewed a number of plumbers, and found Jim to be that combination of contractor that really knows what he's talking about, really knows what he's doing, and is really easy to talk to. The scope of work was complex enough to require inspecting all of my existing plumbing. Jim pointed out what all the other plumbers mentioned which was my homes plastic plumbing. The builders had used a plastic pipe that, while within code at the time, had since proven to be weak and prone to breaking over time. Jim's quote for the work I was requesting on my master bathroom was so competitive that we were able to include replacement of my entire home's water supply lines into a new scope of work for very little more than other plumbers were quoting for just the bathroom. That made it a true bargain. We agreed to a scope of work, a price and a schedule, and I let Jim get to work. Jim called to confirm appointments, got here when he said he would and did exactly what he promised he would do. He's very easy to with and my wife loved him. As I write this review, I've completed the carpentry on the job, Jim's completed all the rough plumbing as well as re-plumbed all my supply lines in the house. ( I've done enough of my own work, and had enough experience in the trades to know quality work when I see it. Jim does quality work and he does it quickly.) my electrician's gotten all the rough electrical in, and my drywall guy is coming soon tape and finish all of drywall I've installed. Once I complete the tile work, Jim will come install all the fixtures, valves and the steam unit. My relationship with Jim continues. I'm remodeling my entire home. I do a lot of my own work, but I contract out the high skill stuff that's best left up to the pro's. I've got a great electrician, a great drywall guy, and now I've got a great plumber. My wife has already recommended Jim to a number of friends. He's that good.

I was really worried this would drag on and on. Not the case. They just took care of business. Fair, honest, on time with superb quality to their work..
Description of Work: The water line to our rental ruptured on a Friday night, and naturally we needed it fixed quickly for the tenant. We were at a significant disadvantage being 1800 miles away-we were at the mercy of whoever came out. James came thru with flying colors-got it done in one day, and somehow managed to stitch back the landscaping to where you can barely tell anything was done. He did an excellent job of keeping us informed and took plenty of pics to show the progress.

I called 5 and got a hold of 2 that couldn't put me on their schedule. Then, I called JD, he picked up the phone, listened to the problem and told me exactly how to fix it! I was planning on a couple hundred dollars out of pocket and it didn't even cost a nickel! We fixed the leak and will think of James as our plumbing guardian angel. Thanks James!

We worked together over the phone and then met at Lowe's so we could purchase the proper faucets for the sink. He completed the work ahead of time and was really great to work with.

+ -1 moreI have used Ennis Plumbing's services twice so far, and I will continue to use them and recommend them to others. I am an out-of-town landlord of a condo in Boulder. My tenant notified me the end of May that there was a leak under the kitchen sink. I had my tenant call James and he went out there within a matter of days (I forget exactly how long, but it was sooner than many others could get there). He had to replace most of the piping under the kitchen sink and it was completed in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. Payment was very easy for me to make without being there, on-site, as well. When I found another water problem in my kitchen this past weekend, I called James at about 2:30 pm on a Saturday to see when he could come out. He called me back in less than 30 minutes (ON A SATURDAY) and said he could come out first thing the next morning (on Sunday!). That was excellent. He called me at about 9 am with a follow-up. It ended up not being a plumbing issue but an HVAC issue. James fully admitted that he is not an HVAC specialist, but he said it looks like the condensation pump on my furnace was the issue. I called an HVAC company, they came out later that Sunday and confirmed that it was, in fact, the condensation pump. I'll be honest, I do not know what (if anything) the visit fee will be for today's visit from James. Either way, his time (especially on a Sunday) is valuable and if there is a fee, I'm sure it will be reasonable. I am just so grateful he was able to get out there and diagnose the problem so quickly! I am thrilled with his service thus far and will continue to use him for all of my plumbing needs!
Description of Work: James has been out to my condo twice now. The first time he fixed a leak in my kitchen sink. The second time, he determined that plumbing was not my issue and, despite not being an HVAC specialist, was able to determine that my condensation pump is what was leaking (so I was able to contact an HVAC service tech to repair it).

+ -1 moreWe woke up Saturday morning with a clogged kitchen sink! We had just had our kitchen remodeled and we thought for sure the contractor did something wrong. We just searched for plumber on Angie's list and Ennis was listed 4th or 5th. The first couple before Ennis that we called were all over an hour wait to see if they could get us in, or they were closed. On top of that, there were all these extra costs because it was a Saturday. When I called Ennis, he called me back right away and told him he'd be here in an hour and he was actually early. He also didn't have any extra fees so that was awesome! It turned out we had a clog that was probably already building up before we had our kitchen remodeled and so he just ran a line and unclogged it. The entire thing took about an hour and he made sure to set down a tarp/cardboard to prevent our floors from getting dirty. I definitely recommend!
