Description of Work: I have used Elkhorn several times over the last few years and just wanted to commend them for being honest, thorough, and helpful. They service our AC, forced air furnace, and tankless water heater. As others have noted here, they are not the cheapest, but as usual, you get what you pay for. They have coupons on their website that help. I appreciate professional and knowledgeable service techs and have yet to meet one from Elkhorn that isn't both.

 + -1 moreThe technician, Fuzzy, spent about and hour and a half lying on the ground and carefully straightening each fin on two sides of my air conditioner's outside unit. It had been completely bashed by a horizontal hail storm last summer. When Fuzzy was finished the condensing unit looked almost as good as new. I was absolutely amazed at how nice it came out.
Description of Work: Straightened the hail-damaged fins on my central air conditioner's condensing unit.

 + -1 moreIt went so well. Gary, the president of the company, came out to talk to me and do the bid. After getting another bid and deciding to go with Elkhorn we set it up right away. They came out the next monday and put in the new furnace in one day and stayed until it was done. They then walked us through how to work the new thermostat and how to clean out the high end filter we got. After they left the thermostat registered an error. We called Elkhorn and got their answering service. We told them the problem and they page the oncall tech. He called back within 15 minutes. The problem had resolved itself by then but he offered to come out and take a look. It wasn't a cold night so we decided to just schedule him to come out the next day when I got off work. He did tell me that if there were any problems during the night to call back and he would come out any time of the night. Came out the next day and adjusted the gas setting a little and it made everything work just fine. That was why I went with this company. They were very big into customer serive, not just before they got my money, but after as well.
Description of Work: They replaced the furnace with a new 95% efficient furnace.

Initially, two companies were responsive and came out to provide a quote; however, Elkhorn was the only company that actually gave me a quote. My personal gut feeling is that they would be priced slightly higher than other companies, but their responsiveness and professionalism won me over. The quote appointment was set up for a few days after I called the office and I received a "reminder" call 24 hours prior to the appointment time. Gary arrived on-time and not only provided a quote for the requested work, but he also noticed a duct joint that wasn't connected, so it was leaking warm air into a closet. That joint was fixed for no charge. Before leaving the house, Gary provided a written quote and had called back to his office to set up an appointment. The two service technicians, Chris and Levi, arrived a few days later. They arrived on time and couldn't have done a better job. It took about 2.5 hours, during which I had other contractors in the house, and a dog that I'm working with to improve her manners. I also had to leave them alone in the house after 1.5 hours. They made sure all their questions were answered and the paperwork was completed before I had to leave. Although I threw them a few curve b****, they took it all in stride and left the place very clean. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Two floor registers needed to be moved because (1) built-in cabinetry was going to be installed and (2) they were in poor locations. One floor register was moved about 18 inches and the other was moved about four feet. New materials (ducting, registers, etc) were used.

 + -1 moreAt every point, from estimate to final installation, they were punctual. They accomodated my request to have the electrician come earlier than usual in the process. they finished several hours earlier than i expected. Before they left, Matt walked me through abnd made sure i understood the system, and what type of maintainance was needed. They cleaned up after themselves, so that it was hard to tell they had been there. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: They Installed a high efficiency furnace and whole house in line humidifier, along with a new digital thermostat. Prior to the actual installation, they came and performed a complete assessment of the heating requirments of my house to insure the best size furnace. Gary was helpful and answered all my questions. My electrical circuit was brought up to code; this was all explained prior to the installation. Gary gave the most complete assessment compared with the other three companies that came out, and was midrange in price.

 + -1 moreGary replaced my old furnace with a new high efficiency furnace with a heat pump. Gary was able to accommodate my special request of the placement of the heat pump. The easiest place for it would have been next to the house, but that would have been in the way. Instead he was able to install the unit on the roof. I've had Gary back since this install to also install a humidifier to the system. I've referred Elkhorn to my brother who just had to replace their furnace.
