We needed to recarpet the entire house to put it up on the market for sale. We were looking for a more low end carpet and needed it in fairly quickly. I went to Carpet Exchange and Eva helped me. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and totally professional. She knew exactly what we were looking for and her suggestions were perfect. She set up and installation quickly and communicated with us throughout the entire process. The installation team did their job quickly and professionally. They did a great job and the new carpet looks better than the last one did when it was new. We are completely satisfied with the process and the results with Carpet Exchange.
Description of Work: Replaced the carpeting in the entire house.

Rethink visiting Carpet Exchange. The installation was very sub-par. Materials and technique used were not acceptable. They used cheap 3M Masking tape to tape the seams on the pad. You can poke your finger easily through cheap masking tape as I illustrated to the supposedly non-English speaking installer. (I specifically requested English-speaking installers). The installer tried to tell me that the tape is specifically made 3M Tape for carpet. This was total baloney. Further, the installers were going to lay the new pad on the sub-floor without pulling the existing staples and nubs of pad from the old rug. They continually told me that they were getting all the staples when I could very clearly see that they were not. These inexperienced installers took 5 1/2 hours to install rug in a in a 17 square foot front room. They left fist-sized clumps of carpet fiber in my furnace ducts. The installers finally grasped my great dissatisfaction and promised they would show me the sub-floor in the next room (a small dining room) to insure me that all the staples were pulled and the floor was sufficiently cleaned. This did not occur. I took 2 telephone calls in the 7 1/2 hours that the installers were here. When I can into the house from the garage after taking the second call, the dining room rug was already laid. The installer told me that I was on the phone....that's why he didn't come get me ......and then he insulted me by holding his hand up to his ear as if he had a phone and looking at me said "Yak, yak, yak". Then he looked at me and said "What do you want me to do.....pull it up for you so you can look?" ...now he can speak English.... Yup! That's what I want....before I'll pay my bill I want the rug pulled up so I can see. These were two guys I didn't trust to do a good job...they insulted me in my own home...took an exorbitant amount of time in two small rooms.......couple this with no response from Carpet Exchange and it adds up to a big fat ZERO for Carpet Exchange Delete review
Description of Work: Provided a very sub-par installation crew. Does not respond in a timely fashion

Horrible!!! I am so sorry I used this company!! I purchased the carpet and laminate flooring on 6/2/12 and needed to have them install it as soon as possible, because I couldn't move into my place until they installed the floor. Their ad says, you buy today and we can install tomorrow, but that was so not the case! They couldn't install the flooring 6/6/12, and then the day before they called to tell me that they couldn't keep their appointment. Their was a problem with their delivery truck and they didn't have the carpet. When they had two days to get everything together for the install. This was a big inconvenience to me due to the fact, that I had deliveries coming the next day and comcast. I had to call and move everything back. I was very disappointed with the fact that it took them almost a week to install my flooring, when they advertise installing the next day.I asked the management if there was anything they could do for not keeping their appointment, and she offered me $100.00. I was not impressed with the discount, but at this point I just wanted my flooring installed so I could move in. They were only able to install the carpet the next day, and I had to wait an other week and a half to get the laminate installed. The customer service at this store is the worst I've ever had! After the carpet was installed I called to find out when the laminate would be installed, and they never called me back. I had to call again, and a few days later they finally called be back to set up the appoinment. Then I called on 7/2/12, because I notice some of the stairs were not properly tact down. After, I waited for a week for them to call me back to get the problem fix I called again to speak with the manager. I was told that she would call me back later that day, but never did. Also, the manager was supposed to discount the $100.00 from bill, but didn't do that either. I ended up having to call cooperate to get the problems fixed. Once I did that, I received excellent customer service! They actually called me back and fixed the problem. I got my carpet fixed and the discount the next day.
Description of Work: Installed carpet and laminate flooring.Replaced carpet on the main floor, staircase, upstairs. Installed laminate in dinning area.

This company tried hard to be cooperative to work with but there were still breakdowns in communication, and in performance. I was quoted a price over the phone based on 1) the assumed type of underfloor prep work and material that would be needed, 2) the type of flooring I selected and purchased, and 3) the area of floor in two rooms that I had measured myself. Salesperson Ginger came out to look at the unaltered floors to be done and give us a written "guesstimate". The price of this job ended up depending on the underfloor preparation that was required to be done in the county where I reside. The final price was about $230 less than the original quote - HOWEVER - the subflooring replacement and repair that had to be done BEFORE the superficial floor could be laid cost $3,500.00, so I'd have to say that overall to refloor a tiny u-shaped condominium kitchen and a standard to small size single full bath cost us nearly $5 grand. MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT YOUR SUBFLOORING CONDITION, COUNTY REPLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS DEPENDING ON YOUR TYPE OF HOUSING, AND THE APPROXIMATE COST FOR WORST CASE SCENARIO BEFORE YOU GET ALL EXCITED ABOUT HAVING A NEW FLOOR LAID IN A NOT NEW RESIDENCE!!! This cost us 3 months of time, countless hours of phone work, internet search, meet & greet with contractors, changes of plans and dates, and a WHOLE LOT MORE MONEY. Learn from MY STUPID ASSUMPTIONS (that were actually based on phone misinformation from a variety of sources, this company being one of them. ANYWAY...Unfortunately for me, my husband failed to awaken me (I am disabled and sleep very irregularly) when Ginger arrived to look at our floors and give us a rough estimate, so I have still to ever see her face. The original visit from her was on January 12th. After that she ordered the Mannington flooring we selected. She called back on February 2nd to say that the flooring did not come in but could not or would not give me a definitive reason why. I still don't understand it. I was told eventually that it was Mannington's fault or that they did not have the advertised flooring available to send and so had to manufacture enough for our job during the three weeks that we waited to hear back. It eventually came in on February 6fh and we schedule to have it installed by SUBCONTRACTOR Gary Lucas and his "crew" on February 9th (husband only off Thursdays...). Gary came on time. His crew consisted of his older teen or early twenties SON and his son's FRIEND. Only one pro for this job. He looked at the old floor that was still intact and told us that the subflooring was so damaged that we would have to have it repaired or replaced before he could do his job. He took a piece of the baseboard from our kitchen, took our already paid-for Mannington floor and left after about a quarter of an hour. We never got the piece of baseboard back. I was worried that the flooring would get lost or accidentally used for someone else's job and so asked Carpet Exchange to bring it back while we went through all the bologne that I eventually had to go through to get the floor ready to receive the Mannington superficial flooring. I tried to get Carpet Exchange to bring the flooring back so we could at least store it here but after 5 promises that turned into failed attempts I just decided to pray about it and let them keep it. I then began the hunt for contractors. That's a different story, not really relevant here. After the subfloor in the kitchen had been completely cut out and gypcrete repoured and a 10-day cure time had elapsed, and the bathroom floor had been repaired adequately with some sort of epoxy-based gypcrete repair material that had to be applied twice, we were finally ready for the superficial flooring. Here is where the REAL comedy of errors began... As soon as Mr. Lucas and his helpers arrived (on time) I noticed that his son's friend was wearing a ridiculous and nearly obscene outfit of t-shirt, open workshirt over that, widely exposed boxer shorts and drooping jeans around his upper thighs. I was pretty aghast but decided to not look at him and address the issue later with the company. They first looked in the kitchen and said they would need to vaccum up a significant amount of gypcrete dust, so went to their van and brought in a canister vacuum cleaner. No one asked if they could use ours. I wish they had. The moment the thing was turned on A HUGE PLUME OF DUST AND SMOKE BILLOWED OUT OF THE BACK OF THE MACHINE AND INTO THE DINING ROOM AND LIVING ROOM AREA. Between the THREE of them, not a one noticed it. I ENDED UP ON MY FEET RUNNING TOWARD THE KITCHEN HOLLERING "TURN IT OFF!! TURN IT OFF!! SOMETHING'S WRONG!!" before they looked up and saw the MESS. They took the machine outside without saying anything to us, worked on it for some half an hour or more, then brought it back in and turned it on again. It was cold out that day. My husband and I had immediately donned surgical masks and he'd opened the large patio door all the way and the front door to the home all the way (the only true "airflow" we have here). I had to cover up with pillows and blankets in my chair but still sat for hours SHAKING WITH THE CHILL. Teens hardly notice cold weather. I remember. Well, that was then and this is NOW, for ME. Even when the work was done, no one offered to hire a cleaning crew to come and clean up the dust that is still covering much of our kitchen, the inside the every cabinet and drawer there, and every surface in the dining room, our computers, and the living room right out to the patio. BAD FORM!Q@! When the vacuum was set to rights, they just continued and we continued to run the ceiling fan with the doors open and our face masks on to try to clear out the gypcrete. This was not an exaggeration on our part, as we saw that the construction company who cut out old damaged gypcrete from the kitchen and poured new in it's place, only let ONE tech in there to work on that job, and that man wore a MILITARY/EMS EQUIVALENT CHEEK-PAD FILTERED TOTAL HEADCOVER GAS MASK until the gypcrete had been poured and was sitting quietly beginning to cure. I remain rather CONCERNED about our exposure to this substance and will take whatever appropriate action against CarpetExchange and/or Gary Lucas is warranted in the future with regard to damage to US incurred by their poorly performing equipment....... The "crew" arrived at our home at 10:30am. They left at 3:30pm. Sometime during the final 2 hours while the baseboards were being replaced and whatnot, Gary Lucas cut himself badly with his own carpet/flooring knife while trying to replace the blade and left our residence to go the emergency room. He did not tell his crew, nor my husband or I. None of us found out until the job was finished and they looked around for him. The horribly attired "son's helper" seemed to know that he had been injured and had left the work site, but had said nothing. We were left with two teens to finish the job and they did an "adequate" but not great job. The seams of the baseboards are not well matched or tightly fastened to the floor, a 4 inch by 1 inch space at floor level in the bathroom by the tub was left without baseboard or spackle of any kind. When they were taking their leave I asked how we were supposed to take care of the floor. Where was the Mannington paperwork? There was NONE. The reply given me by Mr. Lucas Jr. was "Soap and water I guess." The entire job was basically A WRECK. Would I recommend this company to a friend? NOT IN THIS LIFETIME.............. We DID finally get paperwork telling us how to care for our new flooring from Mannington itself yesterday, Saturday March 21, 2012. Fortunately I have talked my husband out of mopping it or doing any more than just sweeping until we got the correct information. I'm SO glad we didn't clean it with soap and water. I'm thrilled to know about the wonderful warranty that comes with Mannington floors. And I'm SO NOT gonna ever turn to CarpetExchange for ANYTHING ever again.
Description of Work: Preliminary inspection of existing flooring and "guesstimate" of cost given. Asked for 50% of "guesstimate" amount as downpayment. Paid per Visa by me. Superficial Flooring and underfloor leveling material ordered from manufacturer. Subcontractor assigned to install floor. Subcontractor arrived ready to work and on time with helpers but refused to lay the floor as the subflooring was in bad condition and required extensive repair. Subcontractor returned 7 weeks later and laid our purchased flooring down in the kitchen and bath. I don't know if adhesive was applied. Day of installation went BADLY for several reasons outlined below... Subcontractor or helpers installed new baseboards and replaced toilet correctly. No one offered to clean up the mess their faulty machinery had made. Professional contractor LEFT THE WORK SITE without telling us due to self-inflicted injury and left his "helpers" to finish the job. NO PAPERWORK OR INFORMATION ABOUT IMMEDIATE NEEDS, CARE AND MAINTENANCE, OR WARRANTY OF THE FLOORING WAS GIVEN TO US in any form whatsoever. Two "helpers" finally told me that the SUBCONTRACTOR HAD BEEN GONE FOR SEVERAL HOURS and when I asked how to care for the floor they said I should use "Soap and water I guess". Soap and water is expressly AGAINST the manufacturer instructions early on or EVER for the type of flooring that we purchased. No metal or other material "contiguity strip" was laid between the kitchen and the dining room carpet for a reason given me early on by the subcontractor that I didn't understand then and he was unable to adequately explain. We were advised to use DUCT TAPE as a permanent solution to exposed carpeting nails at the junction of the two floors................................ Upon contact with CarpetExchange was told that they don't have pamphlets, warranty information sheets, care instructions or any printed material whatsoever for the floors that they purchase for customers and install...EXCUSE ME?!@? The only thing I was given to sign was an ok to charge my Visa again................to the best of my recollection...

The Sales Representative was very prompt and helpful. The only problem that we had was, some degree of unreliability of the carpet installers. They did not always show up when they indicated that they were coming. In the end, they did a wonderful job installing the carpet, once they were here.
Description of Work: I had a broken pipe in my basement that damaged the carpet beyond repair. I had to replace the carpet in my family room and office in the basement.
