Lousy, except for the sub contractor. The estimator was a gentleman and obviously a good salesman. The office staff was sloppy and at times incompetent. The sub contractors were professional and respectful, do beautiful work and great attention to detail, and the owner of the company caused me a lot of stress and now I hate their company. They couldn't read the paint samples, scream at me, demand a lot more money to finish the job. They misrepresented the fact that no company employees would be here. The owner should have taken responsibility for the misunderstanding...it is my sincere hope that his insistence that I pay an extra $140 for paint , and my reviews on several web sites, will cause him to loose $140,000 of business. They don't tell the truth.
Description of Work: Baseline's estimator came and wrote a bid two hours ahead of schedule which I thought was great. I greeted the estimator at my front door, in the turret of my house. Right then and there I told him "I painted this room myself, this is my paint, Sherwin Williams Super Paint, these are my colors which I will send to your company." He gave a thumbs-up, saying that's the paint, Sherwin Williams, that they use too. He told me it is a family owned company and their employees would do the work, they were all background checked and drug tested. He estimated the job and I told him his bid was $500 more than 2 others, but I needed my house finished. So I signed it. The next day I sent him a photo copy of my paint colors on Sherwin Williams' paint samples...complete with Super Paint Flat, the color numbers and the computer mix codes on the printout labels provided me by Sherwin Williams. I didn't hear another word from them for about 2 weeks. I finally called their office to find out when my job had been scheduled. Their secretary said they had an opening Monday or Friday, she would check and get back to me. I never heard a word so on Monday morning I called...much to my surprise the painters had called the office, saying my main gate was locked and they couldn't get in. They'd been waiting there for who knows how long. I was not prepared for them, as I had no confirmation of that date as the start date. The sub contractors taped and draped the interior rooms they were painting and then came back the next day, spend hours waiting for the paint. Turns out the secretary had the wrong address for my house. The estimator got it right, no one else did. So by a twist of fate, I was driving on the road and passed the Sherwin Williams delivery truck, and he followed me home...showing me the incorrect address he'd been given. The painters did the 'cut-in' along the ceiling in one room, and left. Not only was the color wrong, the finish was wrong as was the type of paint. They had written ProMar on the contract...I had understood that I was to get Super Paint. My painters said ProMar would take two coats to cover, and it was eggshell finish instead of flat, which was clearly written on the paint samples. So I called the company and expressed my frustration and wanted help to get the right paint. WOWIE Zowie, the owner of the company called...interrupted me 7 times, screamed at me over the phone, threatened to pull his crew off my job, and then insulted me yelling," You are being unreasonable." Then he stated he would call the estimator. In a few minutes, he called back saying it was their screw-up, and "here's what we'll do for you." In essence, I had to go to the town 20 miles away to the Sherwin Williams store, waste two and a half hours of my life while they mixed the right colors, faxed my written approval back, then they finally ordered the paint, another hour of waiting. They of course, charged me another $140 dollars for the upgrade to the paint I'd asked for in the first place. FINALLY my house is almost finished by sub contractors who ARE NOT the employees of the company who I was promised. My advice to ANYONE thinking of hiring this outfit is: DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT HIRING BASELINE PAINTING. And that's what I told 5 women at the paint store. After hearing my experience with this bunch, none of them will call even for an estimate. They were amazed that the owner of the company had intimidated, threatened, and insulted me. So am I. They're making money apparently, but I don't know how, treating customers like this. I will tell everyone my experience with Baseline painting and if it hurts their business, they can realize that their insistence on charging me more money, screaming and insulting and threatening me, has created an adversarial relationship and I will protect as many consumers as I can by telling the truth about them.
