The electrician was very professional. He had to go in the attic to set up the outlets because he installed a ceiling fan and there was nothing there previously. He was fair priced. He is coming back tomorrow to do my other ceiling fan because I was so impressed.
Description of Work: Installed ceiling fan.

I had arranged with a heating/air conditioning (HAC) contractor to have my gas furnace replaced and simultaneously have a new air conditioner installed. These were of the energy efficient types to lower my heating and cooling expenditures. The general contractor arranged for Tom Hughes of Atomic Electric to come and provide an estimate. Relative to some previous electrical work via another electrician (and company), I had no issues with the estimate. After agreeing with the estimate, Tom Hughes said he would initiate the job on July 27 (Tuesday) around 8:30 in the morning and I subsequently wrote this date down on the estimate form. Needles to say, he did not show up as promised, nor did he call to inform me as to why. This bothered me as I had taken a day off from work just for this purpose. Around 2 or 3 PM that afternoon, I called the HAC contractor and informed him that Tom had not shown up. About a day later, the HAC contractor called and informed me that Tom said he would come that Friday (7-30-2010) sometime in the early morning to get started. He did not arrive until close to noon nor did he ever call to inform me (or the HAC) as to his status in being late. The electrical work was partially completed when Tom suddenly left and did not return for several hours. Again, he did not inform me as to why or when he might return. However, the majority of the work was completed on Friday, enough so that the house electrical could be turned back on. He was subsequently paid the greater portion of the estimate and the following day, Tom completed the remainder of the electrical work and was paid the remainder. An electrical inspection was arranged and subsequently failed with 3 minor issues and 1 major issue. The minor issues I will not mention as they were minor indeed. The major issue was that the WRONG meter panel was installed for Jefferson County regulations. This floored me as I would have thought that the electrician would have been cognizant of the requirements for a county he was working in or at least call the county and inquire as to any new requirements relative to the type of work that was being planned. The correct meter panel required a by-pass switch and the meter panel Atomic Electric installed did not have the required disconnect switch. I called the HAC contractor and let him know what happened and he said he would call Tom and arrange for him to come out and correct the discrepancies. He had problems contacting him and Tom did not return his calls. I called Atomic Electric myself to speak with Tom but had to leave a message. I left the message that the inspection had failed and I needed him to come correct it. I had to call several times before Tom ever returned my call. He said he would come and fix the meter panel, but never showed up on the date promised nor did he ever call and let me know why. I again called the HAC contractor and let him know what was going on. He said that he would arrange for another electrician to correct the discrepancies and bill Atomic Electric. This way we could get the inspection completed and finalized. I was in disbelief that it actually required a minor threat of getting another electrician and billing Atomic Electric before Tom decided to actually complete the job. Tom finally showed up and made all corrections and the subsequent inspection passed and was finalized. He told the HAC contractor that he had been sick. I can totally understand this, but he should have called one of us and let us know what was happening. However, I cannot understand why it took until the last week of October for these corrections to be made. In my opinion this is a classic example of how not to do business and how not to treat your customers. Bottom line: I will never use this electrician again and will not recommend him for any electrical work. He does not show up as promised nor does he inform you of any status changes.
Description of Work: 1) Provide and install all labor and materials to upgrade the existing main electrical panel to a new 200 amp main breaker type electrical panel. Replace the existing meter housing with a new 200 amp meter housing. Ground and bond the new service to current NEC standards. cold water bonding will connect in the hallway closet. Refeed all existing electrical circuits. 2) Provide and install a new 240 volt dedicated circuit from the new electrical panel to the location of the new air conditioner condenser. Install the required disconnecting means and ensure a GFCI protected receptacle is within sight and within 25 feet of the air conditioning disconnect as required by NEC. 3)Provide and install labor and materials to add two receptacles in the patio area for convenience. Surface mounted conduit will be required, unless the receptacles are close to existing receptacles on the inside walls.

He came out once and said he needed to order parts. He never called me back. I had to call him a few times over several weeks. I eventually gave up and went with someone else. He is very unresponsive.
Description of Work: I had this company come to give an estimate on some electrical work.
