They showed up on time, worked hard and completed the job in two days. They did an excellent job!

They did not require even one dollar up front. I signed some papers and in a week they started digging for the foundation which took two days. Then a big ol concrete pumper truck came in a couple days later and they started to put in the foundation. It all went well after I called Jerry to ask about the walkway in front that had not been dug out yet. Well, it took about 45 min after the call for that part to be ready for the cement! The men worked hard to get the cement all smoothed out and ready for the next phase. A couple days later the big truck with the wood showed up and they started to frame the walls. This only took one day to rough it all in! Then the roofers came and in a couple hours it was done. The electrical man was here and ran wires from the main elect. box for the house to the garage. He took 2 1/2 days and did the job well. He was quite experienced in it. Next the siding company came and it took about 1 and 1/2 days and while they were still here, the gutter folks did that part. Last was the finishing up of a dry walled South wall for a fire wall. The final inspection was on the 7th of Sept. The City man noticed a little problem with the last part but said he would pass it as it was minor. It went well for the size of the job. It is obvious they have done this before. There were few problems with it all. After the new concrete was pored the drain from the house would put a puddle in front of the car door as the water had no place to go. They fixed this by remounting the house downspout along the wall to drain away from the front of the garage. The gutter guys said it would have been nice to have a little U shaped drain in the new concrete to carry the water to the side when it was put in. And only one other thing is the people door has a screw in the jam that is right in line with the strike plate for the knob. This pulls the jam away from the knob and makes it just barely catch the strike plate. I'll take the screw out and put in a wedge to push the door jam back out to the right place and latch the door better. Funny the framers installed it this way and did all the rest so well. I've already gotten compliments on how nice it all looks!

An estimator (Holmes) was out within 24 hours of requesting information from Servicemagic. The price was reasonable and they could do our driveway replacement beginning 3 days later. Jerry (owner) called night before to confirm everything and came out himself with the crew the next morning to explain everything and ensure the crew understood what was to be done. Crew did great work and really good job on cleanup. Driveway looks great. I was defrauded by another concrete contractor 2 years earlier and after going through the process of resolving that found out just how prevalent bad concrete contractors are. Republic is a rare reputable company that I would do business with again without hesitation.

The price was fair. The workers were very professional. They were on time. They were very conscientious. Everything was done very well.

I contacted four companies for estimates: Two came out promptly, one didn't even contact me for weeks, and one never called me back at all. Of the three estimates, two were close in numbers, and one was $8,000 more than the other two. I knew right away who I would choose because I felt Jerry knew exactly what I was talking about and trusted that he would do what he said. I contacted Jerry and the process of getting permits began. Basically, the process went like this: the shed was moved which was in the way of the new garage; old cement was removed and the area was grated for the new garage; the cement was completed; the framing and the rest went up.

The fact that they did not need a deposit was comforting. At least I knew they weren't going to be dragging the project out if they hadn't been paid yet. The owner of the company was also my project manager and I had his personal cell number available throughout the process. The construction was completed within the expected range, good because we have dogs and a kid (neither of which likes to be kept from their yard). There were some design ideas that I had not thought of that Jerry's (the owner) experience brought to my attention. It was as though the company really listened to my needs and what I was after. I love my new garage and the wife enjoys the larger interior space.
