 + -1 moreWe have been using Jarvis at A Gas Man for over 10 years. He has always provided us with first class service at reasonable rates. One of our fireplaces is actually a composite of two units, very non standard. Jarvis has been able to keep this fireplace operational through tough problems caused by the hybrid nature of this fireplace. He always explains what he is looking for, what he needs to do and what he does. Jarvis puts down big blankets so that any work he does doesn't cause problems in the house. Fast and efficient, and a pleasure to talk with. We highly recommend him. I am sure that other companies would charge a lot more for this service. By the way cleaning the glass is not beneath us, he is there to service the fireplaces to keep them running.

 + 1 moreI moved into a new house a few months ago with two gas fireplaces already installed, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Both fireplaces were less than two years old. The living room fireplace was fine and the upstairs one was emitting a strange smell. I wanted to be safe before I continued to use them, so I called the Gas Man Inc, AKA Jarvis. Jarvis sounded very professional on the phone and asked me a lot of questions about my fireplaces. He also went on about how busy he was. However I was able to get an appointment the following Tuesday (I called the previous Thursday), pretty quickly. He only makes house calls on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays. He came to my house with his A Gas Man Inc. hat on like he was very professional. He made me watch him work on the upstairs fireplace and went into great detail about how to ignite the fireplace, something that seemed very self-explanatory and something I had done many times. Then he took out the glass and insisted that I clean it even though I was paying him and even though I had a crying one year old in my arms. Then he vacuumed out the fireplace with a 20 dollar shop vac. and dusted off the logs with an old paint brush (seriously???) When he took out the logs he asked ME if I could look up on my smart phone and find out how the logs should be configured. One would think he would already know how to do this since he was "The Gas Man," but no. Then he vacuumed the downstairs fireplace and made a big production about how to open and close the door to reach the controls (completely self-explanatory!!) Then, I had left the room and came back he said that he found a mouse nest behind the fireplace. I asked if I could see the mice but he had already conveniently packed up his vacuum! He then gave me a bill for $375 and went on about how gas fireplaces need to be "serviced," (in reality vacuumed), every year. My jaw nearly dropped!! I think it's fair to say that this guy, Jarvis (conveniently no last name or address), is a total charlatan who makes his living taking advantage of people. He seems to have zero training and his idea of "service" is literally vacuuming out the fireplace!! If you are reading this review, please seek help elsewhere!!! The Gas Man Inc. Is a total scam!!!!!

 + -1 moreI called to get a quote on installation of a remote control (that I had purchased) for my Brand new home's fireplace. He told me that the remotes do not work well for the Brand. He went on to say that it was a builder home and since it was almost a year since install, it was likely installed incorrectly and filthy from construction dirt. We have lived in the home for three months and it was empty before this. At this point he suggested a cleaning for $150 so he could make sure it was installed properly and ready for the remote. Really? I was not born yesterday. Do not go near this rip off artist. It was a total scam. He would not even come out and take a look to give me an estimate. Any decent contractor will at least examine the system before trying to bill.

 + -1 moreVince arrived just when he said he would, he made sure my carpeting was covered before he started working and he had all needed tools with him. His work was meticulous and he provided a great deal of information to me about how the fireplace worked and what could have happened to cause the leak which was likely an installation problem. He offered to give the information about what he found to the developer of the property should there be any questions when I contacted the developer about the installation issue causing the leak.
Description of Work: Xcel Energy had confirmed a "significant" gas leak in my gas fireplace and shut the gas off. Vince from A Gas Man promptly found what caused the leak and fixed it and at my request he cleaned and thoroughly inspected the fireplace.

 + -1 moreWe're very pleased with the professionalism and promptness of the gentleman who worked on our gas fireplace. The blower is very quiet and helps keep the chill off of the north wall the fireplace sits on.
Description of Work: Fireplace was thoroughly cleaned (had never been done since purchase of home in 2004) and a blower was installed. Price includes cost of blower.
