Home Depot were amazing. I got several estimates and they were the least expensive. Sears was $10,000 for the same job and I would not recommend them. Home Depot was extremely professional. From the minutes they came out, they took the measurements and gave me a timeline. They have a team and it was awesome. They were wonderful.

Home Depot, Greenwood Village, remodeled 10 simple kitchen cabinets. Sink and appliances remained in the same place, updated cabinets, countertop and sink. This is termed "Like-for-Like" remodel, where the existing floor plan remains the same. The work performed by HD was fine, the subcontractors were competent and willing to answer questions. The problem focused on HD's plumbing and electrical estimates. Their estimates specified code renovations not required by Denver City code, for a like-for-like remodel. These renovations amounted to more than the price of our new cabinets. The remodel began with a Design Consultant and a plan layout. This is the only HD employee, all others were subcontractors. A job estimator measured our kitchen. The estimator noted that our dishwasher drained into the garbage disposal and this was not to plumbing code. We later discovered, that for a like-for-like remodel, it did not require change. Electrical and plumbing estimators arrived at a later date. 15 days later, we met with the HD designer and chose cabinet styles. We were given floor plans, and 3-D views of the kitchen. The designer was pleasant, made revisions to the design quickly, and was patient while we made design choices. HD cabinet installation was $79/cabinet unit, included: shelves, fillers, scribe, toe kick, handles and knobs. Charges from the sub, not included in the $79/cabinet from HD: Install soft close hinges, cut holes for sink pipes, shim cabinet base to offset floor thickness, build up new floors under dishwasher ($466), install molding top/bottom of cabinets ($160), install range hood ($268). We removed other costs, doing work ourselves. ** We were required to pay HD, for all estimated charges, in advance of remodel. Day 27, received estimates from electrical and plumbing subs. We did not ask for any special code updates to our electrical or plumbing. Following are from written estimates, comments are in ( ). ELECTRICAL ESTIMATE - $2,168 including permit. Install duplex outlet left of oven, install duplex outlet for dishwasher, install duplex outlet for disposal, install GFCI protection, install duplex outlet for vent hood, install duplex outlet left of fridge, re-pull 240v circuit for oven to new oven location with a 4 wire circuit as per NEC requirement. Re-trim existing counter top outlets with tamper resistant outlets as per NEC. ( Oven location moved a few inches to the side, due to cabinet change, but the electrical outlet remained in the same position. There was no communication to the electrical estimator that the oven would be relocated. The new 240v 4 prong outlet was placed next to the original 240v 3 prong oven outlet ). PLUMBING ESTIMATE - $2,450 including permit. Re-pipe rough in for kitchen sink to bring to code. Cap off water and drain lines. Install new angle stops, p-trap and stand pipe for dishwasher at final trim. Install faucet, disposal, dishwasher. The estimator noted that the plumbing estimate was high, and if we wanted a lower cost, to find our own plumber. The estimator said the electrical cost was "in line". We hired our own plumber, and asked them to follow the work outlined on the HD plumbing estimate, at a cost of $1,600. Although I appreciated the advice regarding the high plumbing estimate, we chose HD as a full service remodeler, and expected them to hire workers that were proficient and reasonably priced, and not leave that job to the client. ** According to Denver Development Services, Building Department, City and County of Denver; the only electrical work required, for our simple like-for-like remodel, was to modify the 3 existing duplex outlets, within 6' of the sink, to GFCI. We chose to replace the hardwired garbage disposal with a GFCI wall duplex. This should have cost at most $700 including permit. A difference of $1,468 compared to what we paid HD to meet their electrical code requirements. ** According to DDS, replacing the sink, like-for-like, did not require a plumbing permit. To shut off water, cut pipes, and replace under new sink would have cost $400. A difference of $2,050 compared to the estimate from HD's plumber to meet their code. And a difference of $1,200 paid to our plumber, for work that relied on, and followed, the HD plumber's estimate. Day 47, HD's electrician roughed in 4 new wired outlets, 1 new 240v 4 wire circuit to main breaker box, updated 3 existing outlets to GFCI, and added 1 GFCI outlet that was previously wired (only the last 4 outlets required modification by DDS). No outlet fixtures were installed at this time (4.5 hours). Day 55, cabinets delivered. Carpenter installed 10 cabinets, moulding, and range hood (6.5 hours). The cabinets were accurately installed, the molding miter joints met flush. Because the range moved a few inches to the side, the range hood flue required an extension, this work was not done for the $268 range hood install. After cabinets were installed we found; 1 warped cabinet door, 2 wrong cabinets ordered. The blind corner cabinet was not wide enough, the pass through hole showed. The installer covered the hole with a sheet of fascia material and several moldings. A patchwork of materials, on the face of a new cabinet, was unacceptable, we reordered the correct corner cabinet. Counter top installed (2 hours). Day 62, HD's electrician installed 8 electrical outlet fixtures, including 240v 4 prong fixture for range. (3.5 hours). Our kitchen range was down 2 weeks until the 240v fixture was installed. Also needed was a 4 prong range cord. Day 74, HD replaced the warped door. Day 81, final plumbing installation. (14 hours total plumbing time.) Day 104, carpenter installed the reordered cabinet, and reused the old molding. Miters on the reused molding didn't match. At this point remodel was complete. ** Because of unclear and contradictory information from contractors, I researched city code requirements and found the Denver Development Services web site. On the Project Guide for Kitchen Remodel page, it stated; "In many cases, no permit is required for simple projects that only replace (like-for-like) existing cabinets, countertops, flooring in the same configuration, or replace (like-for-like) electrical, plumbing or ventilation fixtures". I emailed the Associate Plans Review Technician specific questions about our remodel. The reply: "Changing the electrical connection to the garbage disposal to a wall outlet does require an electrical permit. You do not need to update the rest of the electrical fixtures, except if there is an existing or new outlet within 6' of the sink; it needs to be a GFCI outlet. Replacing the sink, like for like, in the same place, does not require a plumbing permit." ** The City of Denver adopted the 2011 NEC requirements. We noted the discrepancy of code requirements, in a letter with the final sign off, to the contractor. No response. Copies of the email from the Code Department and original estimates from the subs. were given to the HD design consultant. Questioned a few weeks later, he said they were given to the supervisor. No response from HD. The work done was acceptable, we signed off on the work. But the necessity, of some of the work, was in question. We expected a large corporation as HD to have been current on city code, considering the requirements were on the DDS kitchen remodel home page. We relied on the information from HD contractors that specified our remodel follow code renovations. But according to DDS requirements, there was a difference of $2,660 in electrical and plumbing revisions that were not required, for our like-for-like remodel. Our detriment was also in material costs related to the revisions, 17 hours monitoring, repair and clean up after services that were not required, and the extra weeks that our kitchen was unavailable for use, following HD's code renovations.

We've had problems with the ice maker; it froze up. We had to shut it off because it totally froze my whole freezer. I am not real thrilled with my refrigerator. It was not as good as I was hoping.

I did the painting by myself. I went to their store to buy them, so punctuality doesn’t apply. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

Home Depot and the company they sub contracted for the installation were both great. I have a very large dog and many grandchildren they play on the floor all the time, and it was held up well over the 7 years. We've really tested it. They worked quickly and cleaned up well.

The Home Depot has just about anything that is needed for home improvements. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful about the products stocked, and will special-order items that are not normally stocked on their shelves. I shop at other home improvement stores, but Home Depot is a favorite, since they have such a wide assortment of products and provide knowledgeable assistance in finding just what I need.

I had contracted with Home Depot to install 17 windows and a patio door in my home. The fast talking salesperson convinced me everything would go smoothly from start to finish. I still had some hesitancy about the company but did sign the contract. The next day (still within the 72 hour right to rescind time frame), I wasn't comfortable with my decision so decided to cancel the contract. When the sales person was contacted and told of my decision he became upset, told us the windows had already been ordered and he'd be out the down payment from his own pocket. After much discussion with him I kept the contract, still not feeling right about it. Two weeks later I called to check on an install date and learned the windows had never been ordered! The sales person had not been honest with us from the beginning. I lost all trust in Home Depot's At Home Services. After writing a four page letter to the company I got out of the contract and am now getting windows with another company.

I did all the installation but they were fair on pricing and availability. I would purchase from them again for the house. A fan in each bedroom within the house.

Purchased insulation products to install myself. What can I say it's home depot- okay staff, always issues with getting someone to help you in there.
