Description of Work: We received a bid from WD Yards for pre-emergent and post-emergent weed spraying in gravel areas. When we received the bid, it was for two treatments per year. Our understanding was a spring spraying and a fall spraying. We did hire them and were told when they would come. They did not show up for the first appointment. We called to tell them nobody showed up, and set up another appointment. They did not show up for the second appointment. No one ever called us to let us know they were not going to show up for the appointments. We had to call the owner of the company, and they finally showed up for a third appointment. They sprayed and left a slip of paper indicating what they did, and checked a box that indicated "Two treatments per year may be required to control all the weeds." This was exactly what we had been told, and expected. They did the first spraying around the middle of March. |Some of the weeds died, and some did not. However, within a month, it looked as though it had never been sprayed. We were out of town for a few weeks, so we did not call them until around the first part of June and told them of the problem. After someone came out to view the problem, we were told that due to the spring rain it would have to be sprayed again now, at $174. The employee who sprayed said it required a period of 48 hours without rain, and that after that it would be okay. It did not rain for over a week. We asked to have someone call us, which they did, but not in a timely manner. We again were told that the problem was due to the rain, and that it was our problem, not theirs. About a week later, that same person called to see if we wanted to have a second spraying now, rather than in the fall. I spoke to that person at length about my understanding. I was told that they probably needed to clarify their program. I was also told that we could do a second spraying now for $174, and a third spraying if the problem persisted, at another $50. I asked for that information via e-mail. He said he was busy and would do it the next day. About a week later, I did get that e-mail, now saying that the third spraying would be $50 - $75, and that if the problem persisted, they would do a fourth spraying for free, and any more sprayings after that would be, again, our problem and our cost. We are extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service, and will never use WD Yards again. |
