Double Diamond Plumbing

I will never hire this company again. They didn’t pull the required permits and didn’t leak test the exhaust pipe on the furnace. The next day I started the furnace and one of my carbon monoxide detectors went off. I called the company and the owner who installed the furnace said no big deal and that it happens with new furnaces. I followed his instructions and changed some filters after opening windows and doors. The next morning I was awake and working from home when all my Carbon Monoxide detectors went off. I called the owner again and he had me climbing on the roof to check the vent pipe for birds nests and making all kinds of things for me to check. I did as he asked and asked him if they checked the vent pipe. He said, “we looked at it.” I told him I couldn’t find anything blocking the pipe outside and needed him to come back and look. He came back out and found that some rust inside the pipe caused blockages up to 50% of the pipe. When I asked him why he didn’t check the pipe or leak test it, he said, “sorry I don’t have X-ray vision to know something was wrong with your pipe. When I went in the crawl space myself to check it, there was rust on the joint and obvious that it could have leaks. He said the pipe needed to be replaced and would do it for a few thousand dollars. He could have killed me and didn’t really seem to care. Would never recommend this company.

Excellent. Very professional and timely. Very reasonable. Took three hours for three faucets including a trip to the shop for a fixture. No travel charge unless it was included in he final price.

Could not use them, trip would have been 4.5 hours each way.

I called Double Diamond Plumbing in the morning and had a service man (Mike) out that afternoon. Mike did a great job, very friendly and even gave my two dogs some treats. The price was very reasonable, on time, and will hire them again. In fact I have told my neighbors about Double Diamonds great service and pricing.

GREAT!!! I called in a panic, water leaking from the expansion tank. Mel knew exactly what the problem was and told me what to do to turn it off. Mike was here within 2 hours with a new expansion tank and finished replacing it in 1/2 an hour. Very pleasant and professional, was okay with my 12 year old, very curious and friendly dog! Will definitely call on them again should we have another problem!

The service man, Paul, was professional, smart and congenial. He spent four hours working on my unit. He did everything he could to save me from having to buy a new air conditioner, which I really appreciated!

They arrived early (though they called first to ask if they could), were friendly, courteous, professional, and quick! I now am able to use my hose connected, in-ground sprinklers. While the plumber (Tim I think it was) was in the crawl space he even noted the presence of some arachnid pests and recommended an exterminator. Yay!

Since the repair Double D did on our double oven in 2010, we've had no further issues!

We developed a problem with our in-floor heating system when we tried to turn it on for the year. I contacted 3 different companies and Double Diamond was the first to schedule me and were very punctual. The owner came to my home and looked over our system. He noted a couple un-related issues that should be fixed before they became dysfunctional. He was unable to diagnose the problem on the first visit but was able to limp the system along by diverting the boiler function to the in-floor heat from our hot water tank (which then left us without hot water.) He came back a few days later to spend some more time on the system. After 3+ hours, the problem was still not solved and he left to consult with colleagues. A few days later, he came back for a third visit. The problem still remained unresolved by the time he left. I then received a bill in the mail for $1056.00 and I was still in the same circumstance when I initially called Double Diamond. I called the company, spoke with the owner, and discussed the issue of the bill and the problem still exists. I was told sometimes these things take awhile to figure out and more time was needed. I did not have Double Diamond come back. I feel I gave the company the opportunity to make things right by calling but they did not act on that opportunity. I then called Avalanche Heating, Plumbing, and Cooling who came to my home and fixed the problem without incident (see my review of their company). I feel it is very important to know your own professional limits and fund of knowledge. In particular, if you don't know what the problem is or how to fix it, then say so and move on. I would have been perfectly fine with Double Diamond telling me they do not know what the problem is and they would not be able to help me. I would happily have paid the service charge and moved on.

We used Angie List for the first time. We called a plumber. The person answering the phone was very nice. David the plumber came out on time the next day. He was very professional and friendly. A part did not fit but he went to get another one right away. The price was great and service excellent. We will use Double Diamond again.

Mel the owner was very professional and provided a great service. He insured we were doing things to code and the quality of work and material would be long lasting.

Good job (see exception below) Paul was prompt, polite, and helpful. He fixed the leak in my hydronic boiler (it was a bad air purge valve at the top of the boiler) for a reasonable price. The only downside was the usual FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) approach to replacing my 1970 vintage boiler. He cited two issues: (1) flashback of flame when the pilot was re-lit & (2) knocking/banging of the boiler when it was re-started after several days. As an engineer (take that for what it's worth), I think the flashback was due to gas accumulating before the pilot was actually lit & the banging was due to a cold start on the boiler. I've observed the boiler for a week and the main gas flame starts without any flashback, and with the new air valve, it is quiet as a mouse. Al in all, I'd use them again, but would be skeptical of "this boiler needs to be replaced ASAP". I'd get a "second opinion".

I contacted Double Diamond at 8:00am and within about an hour their service man, Paul arrived. After explaining my problem, without hesitation he followed me into my crawl space to inspect the water damage. I had earlier made two trips under there to try and find the source of the leak without success. Within minutes Paul located the source of the leak. Paul was very courteous and efficient.

They gave an estimate but it was quite a bit higher than we found from another company. We did like the guy but the price was too high. The cost was a few thousand dollars more than we ended up paying.

Very pleased with the service we received from Double Diamond Plumbing and Heating. The furnace had gone down. Their response time was a few hours. The labor and part cost for the replacement of the ignitor was reasonable - $150.00 |The service tech spent a little extra time explaining general maintenance procedures with the tenant which was appreciated.

Paul showed up within an hour after I called (around 9 am) complaining of a problem with my residential boiler. Within minutes he identified where the failure was (no power at the flue valve) and started trying to locate a replacement board. While troubleshooting the problem, Paul identified that holding pressure against the plug to the flue valve, it would maintain power and the boiler would function. In spite of my suggesting that he could hold the plug and all was good, he fashioned a wedge to place between the wall and the plug to maintain pressure to allow the boiler to function, thus providing heat while waiting on his return later in the day. I even offered sandwiches and coffee, but he insisted the wedge would work, while saying something about "other customers". The price he quoted me was $8 over amazon's price, which was $232 below list, and he could get it TODAY! DEAL! He had to go to Clifton to get it (I'm in Fruita) and said he'd work his appointments back through the valley and take care of me between 3-5 in the afternoon. He called me a few minutes after 5 to let me know he was on his way. Paul brought a universal cable with him to try between the flue valve and the controller board, as well as the replacement board. He replaced the cable first and tried the boiler, everything worked fine. That saved more than $100 more! Finally, Paul honored the coupon for $10 off for Angie's List members. Great service! Great attitude! Friendly and honest. Well above my expectations!
