Avalanche Heating Cooling & Plumbing

Serviceman arrived exactly on time. Quickly discovered that there were no major problems but the condenser coils needed cleaning. Cleaned coils, turned the unit on and measured for correct temperatures at the condenser and at all the outlet ducts and inlet duct throughout the house., Temperature differentials were all within spec and unit now works perfectly. I especially appreciated the serviceman's plan to do just what needed to be done, not to find other things to fix just to be able to charge more. I also appreciated his explaining everything he was doing as he was doing it. The most satisfactory interaction I have ever had with service personnel.

Didn't use Avalanche--quote was too expensive for the small amount of work required.. Their quote was about $500, and Double Diamond fixed it for $200. Their quote included drain and refill the baseboard heater system ($180), and fix a minor wiring issue ($200), as well as a $59 diagnostic visit. All seemed to be just padding. Just shouldn't take a tech that long to fix stuff. (I'm an engineer, for what that's worth, so I can estimate time and materials pretty well) Took double Diamond about 2 hours to fix (including checking out the wiring) plus $50 in parts. Seems like Avalanche wants $150/hr for their service techs. I had Double Diamond quote another plumbing repair for replacing some old galvanized pipe with copper. Both were comparable in hours and materials.

Called them to set an appointment. They called to confirm and when the service man was behind schedule they sent another team to do the work as scheduled. Great job and good price. I would use again.

The fellow who came over was nice enough and quickly determined that my humidifier was not working on my furnace. He ordered a new one for me. My shower wasn't heating properly and he had to call another person for help and spent quite a bit of time under the house trying to figure out how to turn off the water. We had a valve in the garage. He charged by the hour for this work. I was frustrated because I didn't think I should pay by the hour for him to call someone else for help nor for the messing around under the house. When he brought the part back (which I saved time by finding online for him) he charged to install the part. He charged an hour for really only 20 minutes of work.

Overall, it went pretty well. They said that the smell from the new swamp cooler would go away in a couple of weeks but it never did. So they had to come over a second time, and they were very punctual and professional and had to do a treatment on the cooler and then we didn't have any issues after that. The swamp cooler itself works just great. I would recommend Avalanche to anyone, definitely. They are very responsive if you are not happy with something.

He's very professional, trustworthy and honest. He's an asset to Trane. The staff that came by to install the furnace and air conditioner was very thorough, efficient, and installed everything in a timely manner. They arrived at my house on time, and they an honest day's work. I couldn't ask for a better company to have done my furnace and air conditioner. The lady of the house has a chemical intolerance, and Jim and his staff accomodated my medical problem. Avalanche is 1 in a million and I would highly recommend them. I am very pleased with the job they did, and I'm very pleased with my furnace and air conditioner. I am extremely impressed and I give them the highest rating anyone could give someone. Marci, who answers the phones, was very pleasant to talk to and she followed through on everything. They are the best company I have dealt with. They were very understanding, nice, and thorough. They followed through to accomodate all of my concerns and needs and did it in a very professional way. They're easy to talk to, and address all your concerns in a professional manner. They bent over backwards to see that all my concerns were met. I am very grateful for Angie's List for introducing us to Avalanche. I'm very satisfied with Angie's List recommendations. I've had companies that have caused me problems, but this company did exactly what they said they would do and followed through. They are just an excellent company to deal with. Avalanche is top notch. I couldn't ask for more. I would highly recommend this company. They are an asset to Angie's List.

The installer was on time and was reasonably priced. He worked nonstop 12-13 hrs.

When the prior owner built an extension to our house the bathroom fan vent was covered up by the new roof. Avalanche Heating & Cooling came for an inspection to determine the best course of action to restore the roof vent. They provided an estimate in 7 work days and were on site to perform the work 1 work day after our approval. The work was completed professionally, they left everything spotless and the fan works great now.

Punctual, courteous and professional. Installers and office staff friendly and helpful. Installers were very clear in their explanation about what steps they had to do to complete the installation. Installation completed in a timely fashion.

They discovered that the system was freezing due to low refrigerant levels from the original installation. The system was installed by another HVAC company and is only two years old. They also discovered that the system's condensation drain line was improperly installed which was backing up into the crawl space. Left unchecked this could have caused thousands of Dollars in damage and repairs. I'm convinced that a normal HVAC company would not have been as thorough as Avalanche and would not have taken the time to inspect the entire system including crawl space condensation drain lines. I was very impressed with their level of knowledge and thoroughness in the repair. The techinician was early for the appointment and was very professional. I would highly recommend them for HVAC repair or service.

I called Avalanche heating to get a quote on installing a heating/cooling system. They provided me with a very competitive quote and they installed the unit. When I called to confirm the quote and set up an installation date, they gave me a time and date that was convenient. The day before they called again to confirm and their techs arrived as scheduled. The techs were extremely through and did an outstanding installation. Their work was done professionally and they cleaned up after they were done. I am extremely pleased with Avalanche Heating and will us them again.

They were excellent. The last time they were out they didn't charge us because my husband couldn't figure out how to turn the water heater back on and he just came out and get it free. They knew their business. They came up with a good solution for us because we only had a tiny little place where they put the heater in. The old heater was down in the basement and it was put in the basement before the house was built. So, no heater couldn't be taken down. So, they came up with putting a gas pump up on the roof which doesn't look any different than a swamp cooler. He had put in new vents in our heating and air-conditioning. They were on time, they worked their assess off. They charged at a reasonable price. They were pleasant and they know what they were doing. Everything was positive.

The different guys that came out were very knowledgeable. I've heard that they're very reputable. It still has a home smart program. If you have any appliances that would fall under their category, Avalanche is who they send out. I was very pleased with the price.

The whole experience with the Avalanche folks was great. They arrived when the said the would. Did the work very efficiently and cleaned up any mess.

We have a rental condominium where the tenant reported having no heat and no hot water. We called Avalance on a Saturday and they arrived at the condo 2 hours after we called. The technician called me after they assessed the situation and said the heat issue was just a breaker switch. As for the water heater, it wasn't working and we could replace a part on the heater (a part that had failed a year earlier) or get a whole new heater. I had them get me a quote for a new water heater, which they got in 15 minutes. It was very reasonable so I had them put in a new one which they completed that afternoon. So to sum up: very fast service on a Saturday at a fair and reasonable cost. They are the best HVAC company I have dealt with in Grand Junction, by far.

The heating was not working, my husband diagnosed the problem as being the pump. I called Avalanche around lunch time, they stated they could come at 4pm or, if I was flexible, sometime between 2pm and 3pm given they had someone in the area working on another job. I confirmed my flexibility. The repair person arrived around 2:45pm, confirmed the diagnostics ($59), replaced the pump (they had one in the truck) ($210) also replaced a leaky drain ($15) and the auto air vent ($15) and the heating was back on by 3:30pm. Prompt to respond, great service, very professional.

We had just moved here from Alaska and know nothing about A/C so we want to get it serviced and we had a gas leak in our hot water heater called one company and they said it would be three days for the hot water heater and they don't do A/C. I calls Avalanche and the where here by 1 PM. They had the gas leak fix in a jiffy and then serviced the A/C then spent the time to show me what suffices I should do. The service man was nice Professional and cost far less then I would have expected. Know doubt who I will use next time.

I talked to someone at Avalanche at the Home & remodel show at Two Rivers about getting a cooler and possibly a new boiler. I was so impressed I decided to go ahead with the installation of both but not until I had called about 3 or 4 times and asked about a million questions (probably some of them were dumb). I spoke with Matt each time and he never lost patience with me. Both the cooler and boiler were installed the same day and there was no mess afterwards for me to clean up and they went over and above by replacing a part on my water heater (which had been installed by a different company) that had been recalled. I would recommend Avalanche to my friends and neighbors I could not have been happier.

On one service call, I had my kitchen remodeled and Jim came by to plug off the plumbing so cabinet installers could do their job. Jim didn't bill me at the time. About 2 weeks later afer cabinets and floors were done, he came back reconnected the plumbing and installed the sink. I don't remember the exact cost but I know it was under $100. Matt and Jim are exceptional at service.

We use them for everything. They are wonderful; they are really good.

I needed a few radiant heat baseboards moved to install a garage door. I was quoted between 200-250 for about three hours worth of work. They were right on time, were very professional (they did leave a few marks on the carpet but it wasn't a huge deal since the carpet was getting replaced). they did everything they said they were going to. They ran into a few snags and went over the estimated three hour period but only charged me what I was quoted. Great guys, use them!
